believe it or not I was a far left-wing person most of my life. I'm sure that with the smugness of today's kids involved in that saying that they would try to laugh that off because nothing is far left enough. but we were about actual tolerance, Free Speech, against any kind of racism I'm just held true to the values that a liberal always has been about. Now that they have the majority of power when the left they have no need for free speech anymore or all of the values that we stood. if they if you don't agree with them they want to shut you down and they behave exactly like wouldn't you know it A NAZI! the thing they claim to be against. they don't even realize that because they do not know enough about history to know what an actual Nazi behave like. before you dismiss me I want to point out that I am very well-versed in the Germany I would go as far as to say I'm an expert. And saving remarks about that study Nazism because I like Nazis. that's just retarded and I'm sure you wouldn't say that about one of your beloved College professors oh, but then again the only standard of the leftist is the double standard. sorry to be so nasty but you support you and ideology that was bought with the precious blood that I hold dear to me and I'll take this very seriously. I'm ready to go to war with the left left, men paid with precious blood this nation and its culture. We are the greatest nation that has ever existed upon this planet. We have plentiful Harvest and shelter if you know about history would understand what I'm saying. It has not always been this way and what a shame for a bunch of twits to totally Overlook that and not appreciate it. Whenever someone tells me to chill out or take it easy I point out that I hold this dear to me and I take this very seriously. I'm ready to go to war with the left literally. And I trust my judgment for once in my life. I used to not trust my judgment because I always doubt 2 months ahead of everybody else, right. And I know that something bad is coming to this country if these Progressive slugs achieve complete power. If you are a progressive and you are not aware of the things that I'm talking about or if you disagree with me I'm not saying that you are personally a bad person, you may not understand or fully be aware of the total picture. Am I? Absolutely and I'm hundred percent sure of it and I never say that never have said that about many things in my life but this this I'm sure of

I was a victim of cancel culture and had to give up a almost 10 year career because some triggered feminist piece of trash went on a witchhunt and wanted me fired because I pointed out their sexism.
I don't think that "cancel culture" is a form of "thought policing," but rather a form of holding people accountable for their actions. Many times, victims of what people call "cancel culture" have been disrespectful towards certain people and/or, in many cases, violated the policies of their employer or codes of conduct. If a person is a public figure and does choose to be publicly disrespectful towards others, such people have the right to stop supporting him or her. If this person publicly violates company or government policy on social media, which could potentially result in bad press, the company or government the person works for has every right to terminate the person from employment. In addition, I've noticed that "cancel culture" seems to have some racial or otherwise cultural or political bias. For instance, people only seemed to have named it "cancel culture" when others began holding White people accountable for their actions, such as getting them fired after making public racist comments on social media or refusing to support celebrities after making publicly making disrespectful comments towards other groups of people.
However, when the NFL player Colin Kapernick, for example, took a knee during the national anthem, the NFL "canceled" him by not offering him a contract, as well general public for not supporting him despite him being within his constitutional right to kneel. Such is extremely ironic for a country that prides itself in free speech. "Cancel culture" is a phenomenon that people seem to support or oppose, as long as the person in question expresses a viewpoint that matches their own. As soon as the person in question gets held accountable and disciplined for something that their supporters agree with, suddenly "cancel culture" becomes a problem. Thus, my issue isn't with "cancel culture" itself, but rather the bias surrounding it. That means if you're, generally speaking, a person that doesn't support cancel culture and truly believe that it is a form of "thought policing," then you ought to support any action that people have a right to engage in as well, which includes taking knees, peaceful (Black Lives Matter) protests, not supporting religion, or supporting any political or cultural viewpoint that doesn't match your own without them facing consequence or unfair treatment.
ah, cancel culture. i understand it when the person did something especially horrible, but if it is taken out of context and twisted/misinterpreted, i have an issue. thing is that there are so many pathetic people in the world who hate their own lives and can't bear it when someone else has a little bit of success.

It is, if you're worried about what someone or some people will do to you for speaking your mind, then they are infact policing your thoughts and what you say.
The worst form of cancel culture is when the government cancels people for various reasons (Example: Whistle Blowing)
If a person sees it's government doing evil, and they are afraid because they have seen the consequences of exposing that evil, that's the government having control over your thoughts and actions.
Cancel culture it's really a new thing, it's been there forever.
Noise makers screaming online, while dangerous, it's still a lame form of cancel culture because it's not really as dangerous as the former. A person is in much more danger when thier own government or authority figures cancel them... Could even lead to a "sudden accident" which lead to your sudden death.I think it's just a bunch of teenagers with nothing better to do and their heads up their own arses.
Cancel culture is voting with your dollars buy on a big scale. Also you can cancel something youndont support most of the times. Also if you or your product is too good nobody cares longer than a week
People cancled funamation becuase of the sexual assault lies.
Gay People try to cancel chick fil la but the chicken Was too good
Republicans tried to cancel captain marvel and star wars but still went to watch it.
Black people tried to cancel kanye but dont realy care or kanye base is more suburb white kidsIt can be and I'm distressed about it. I don't think we should tolerate outright racism and hatred, but neither should we go out of our way to find long-ago quotes, or to take words out of context. Mark Twain's "Huckleberry Finn" is full of the n-word, because he accurately reflected the speech of the time. It's one of the greatest anti-racist works in American literature.
Interesting thought. Hadn't thought about it like that. It kinda looks like the thought police version 0.0.1 tho. They don't seem to use logic and are just hunting for all the small thinga that might cancel someone. I'm sure it originally came from a good place, but nowadays it just seems like a way for people to throw their anger at random people they know nothing about
I think it's only fair. I feel no remorse towards celebrities or influencers who get cancelled over racist past comments for example. They are "INFLUENCERS" they "INFLUENCE" that's literally their job to know how to treat the mass watching them. Plus they're mostly millionaires, and they will continue to be so, why am I -a simple woman who works over 40 hours a week for minimum wage- to worry about whether their brand would be affected by their OWN behavior or nor?
Public figures, particularly politicians have plenty of time to write speeches, ones that are often proof read by their team. There is no excuse for saying things that could be misinterpreted. However they do like to deliberately make things a little fuzzy just to be safe so they can wiggle out of any backlash.
I seriously hate the cancel culture , especially the ones of Tiktok. They just want to make a drama out of everything and make useless opinions.
I support voting with your dollar, if you don't like the way a company does business then it's your money spend it where you want. There's too much corporate leniency. Of course I also believe in fact checking and due diligence.
No, it's action police for things that aren't technically illegal but probably should be. Like sexual harassment, racism, hate speech, etc. Thoughts are fine. You can think about being an asshole all day. It's only a problem when you actually act like an asshole.
In 2003 "The Dixie Chicks were blacklisted by thousands of country radio stations, and the band members received death threats. The backlash damaged sales of the Dixie Chicks' music and concert tickets."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_Chicks_controversyNo. It is anarchism. Unlike Nazis and Commies, they have no utopian vision. They just want to tear things down and burn them.
Companies should have the right to choose who they want to work with. People have been fired because of dumb things they do or say in public since ages ago, not sure why the SJWs are being triggered by ""cancel culture"" now :))
By definition yes. It is the removal of media or speech for the reason being that it goes against what they want you to think and frame it as if your removal is you being a bad person, you can’t even challenge the narrative.
Well... no, since it-- "cancel culture"-- doesn't exist.
This is also a grave misinterpretation and misunderstanding of the term "thought police," which would only be asked by someone who has never actually read "1984," from which the concept originates. There is a world of difference between thought policing, and finding certain speech or activities unacceptable in civilised society.
For speech, people may have the right to say whatever they want, but they do NOT have the right to the support of others when doing that.
When all of society doesn't support speech, it still can happen, but ranting on a street corner doesn't generally bring in the crowds.Sometimes, but sometimes the person legit said something horrible
To many people getting offended by petty shit. They need to just do what generations have done before and just move along.
Don't be so insular and small minded.
So called "cancel culture" is itself just a manufactured controversy. Mainly by old White men, and entitled Karens, who don't want to face up to their gaslighting.Yea they are the worst. Stop trying to cancel shit because you are offended... you offend me cunts but I can't cancel you
