Since I moved to Alaska I've met more than a handful of racist native alaskans (im white by the way).
As far as actual Indians go, the less than handful of ones I've met were very polite and well mannered. It's my understanding though that India is the most racist country in the world but my experience with Indian people has been pleasant thus far.
'It's my understanding though that India is the most racist country in the world..'
May I know the knowledge behind your understanding? You heard that from someone or?

Where did you meet Indians and in what way were they polite?
@slightlyeccentric Are we to believe that survey? I have trouble believing Pakistan is better off than India or South Africa is better off than France.
@Asker the only Indian family I ever interacted with was a family of three (husband, wife and their 10 year old son) who came into the hotel I work at looking for a place to stay while on vacation.
They ended up not staying but they were all very polite and well spoken. It was a nice little interaction.
Oh okay. You haven't interacted with many.
@Asker well I did say less than a handful
Got ya
@SlightlyEccentric damn that does make some sense. As an Indian, I can see some truth in that.
I don’t have much experience, only with immigrants or children of immigrants. And immigrant families are usually pretty cool. They sacrificed a lot to make it over here and have appreciation for everyone.
Have you interacted with many of them?
Great to hear your experiences have been nice.
As limited as it is.

There is racist people in every race.
What is pretty scary is that whenever a white supremacist tried to take over the world, it actually took other white people to stop him. For example Hitler.
Have you had any experience with Indians?
Towards black Americans... moreso on average than other races are. I’ve experienced an unbalanced amount of racism from Indian/Pakistani people.
Can you share something about it?
That surprises me Don
@SuccessfulHornDog Why do you say that?
because I know a lot of Indians and they have never disparaged black people within my earshot
@SuccessfulHornDog That's nice man
Well... they mostly bigoted idiots, from my experience
Are there many where you are? What have you experienced with them?
Many tend to do the 'Brown Sahib'. But it's rather dumb, than racist.
What's brown sahib?
An Indian imitating 'Western' lifestyle - or believing even that he's equal in it.
What's a western lifestyle? You mean speaking English or going to western countries?
Well - originally it had been imitating the English colonial bosses: Clothing, housing and stuff like 'having tea time'. Meaning that they adopted ways of living -and using status symbols- that weren't their own culture, but gave them a feeling of -emm- being in a better position compared with their own countrymen.
Which indeed can be interpreted as racism (against one's own kind).
Going abroad while knowing who you are or where you come from isn't the 'problem'.
The 'problem' begins when people believe to be (or have become) what they actually aren't; and when they glorify or vilify certain limited groups or features.
I haven't heard of Indians having tea time. Don't they have their own clothes, food and movies? What's your experience interacting with them?
Tea-time: that was some time ago and I used it as one example (perhaps not the best one :) )
...
My own experiences with Indians: entirely negative or disappointing, except for two men; of whom one died recently.
Care to share these experiences?
I can sum it up (an extended version would take too long):
In the 'lower ranks' - dishonesty, a tendency to thievery and sliming in favours.
In the 'higher' ranks - 'businessmen' often have approached me with shady and sneaky proposals (not even trying to find out beforehand if that can be discussed); also throughout being opportunistic.
The two good ones: a writer and tutor in philantropy/humanitarianism; and a journalist (world wide, incl. war zones)
Okay
If they are then they hide it from me. Are they racist against a specific group or against all non-indians?
I'm asking. They seem to keep to themselves.
Which Indians do you refer to? Those from the Indian Sub-continent or the various First Nations in the US?
There is only one Indian people. Native Americans are Indigenous Americans, not Indian Americans.
I'm not trying to sound politically correct but I thought we were all smart enough to know that there is nothing accurate about calling Indigenous native Americans as Indians.
Columbus wanted to find India by going west and he just referred to them as Indians and no one has really had the intelligence to say "well that's not right." Really it stems from an ancient identity misunderstanding.
@SlightlyEccentric OK, only wanting clarification, Indian society is run upon the Caste System so their attitude to you will vary on how they perceive your level in society see the attached page for more information as I only have had a passing contact with it.
Chaste Systemhttps://www. BBC. co. uk/news/world-asia-india-35650616
Yeah I was asking about Indians from India. @bolverk What's your personal experience with them?
On engineering projects?
How does the caste system work in that sort of a professional setting?
When you say Indians do you mean dots or feathers?
Which one do you think? Aren't the "feathers" called Native Americans?
