West Virginia is a third world shithole by the rankings and yet their clueless governor worries more about trans athletes than the actual issues. He signed a bill to banned trans athletes from women sports

I think that we as a society have lost any sense of true priorities.
We often emphasize issues have very little importance, while largely ignoring most of the bigger issues that ultimately lead our country in ruin.
On top of this, we discuss politics as if its totally one sided, and through a very specific lens.
It is difficult for political pundits to recognize that other people outside of "White Americans" are capable of self decision making...
They fight for equality, but often under the assumption that no one else is capable of thinking for themselves... That anyone outside of their own self described "privileged" class is simply incapable of producing positive results without great aid (which ironically is a very prejudiced concept)
These issues often become the center of entire campaigns... and tend to be short sighted... they take very complex issues and simplify them in a very black and white way (pun intended). In the process (along with the educational system, media, entertainment) they dumb down issues to the point of having no real truth.
Political pundits, and politicians alike often highlight only the issues that they believe creates the most appeal... whatever can bring in the most $$... or votes.
Often times, these issues lack any real influence on most peoples lives, but we are told that they are matter? If you don't vote in a certain way, or believe a certain thing than you are bigoted

So then we get a world where a country that is one of the most progressive and open nations on the planet, and helped usher in one of the most peaceful eras in history
is now considered perhaps the worst and most evil nation on the planet

Who does it service?
No one
Sure as hell helps the enemies who actually want to take advantage of that system and abuse for their own desires (which happens almost nonstop.. both from domestic and foreign actors).


So take a look at West Virginia
yet another case
a state that clearly ranks terribly in a nation that seems to continue to sink
and the most important topic is Trans Athletes?
an issue that will not only negatively influence thousands of female athletes
but will also gives preferred treatment to a very small minority
^ something oddly familiar to the exact issue people claim to be fighting against


Sometimes I think we are living in one of those funny dystopian novels that are too stupid to be true...

What's there to fix? There's nothing there but trees. It's not fair to compare it to a city or industry state. Is it even worth having schools there? They just give kids false hope
