Why do people abuse animals or neglect them?

because they are selfish, irresponsible, abusive, like being bullies taking everything out on an animal that normally cannot defend itself. my dog is from the pound he is a westie and they abused him he was 9 pounds when i got him growled all the time and didn't like hugs or anything, now at a healthy 16 took about a year for him to like hugs and affection, he is spoiled at my house, he has his own bed with special furry blankets, but can sleep in mine or on the couch, has a tv on when i leave to keep him company, gets home made dog food made for him. he has the life so no matter how short or how long i have an animal before they pass, i keep in mind i took really good care of everyone of them. the people who neglect animals think its cool for a few days then realize oh jeez this is real work, pets need love and dedication and time put in to teach them. i never get peoples logic with animals.

thank you and i work as a caregiver for the elderly, i'm an artist and diyer in my spare time, i also have done things for children kids cancer since i was a young kid. i'm a loner and huge introvert trying to get out of that a little bit.

oh wow tou seem amazing and a wonderful person i really like to get to know i was a REGISTERED Nurse 17 year's till i had a injury from work so im retired now i go around to children hospitals and i dress up as a clown being silly for the the children I OWE SO MUCH TO ROBIN WILLIAMS for the inspiration he gave in the movie patch Adams if you have not seen the movie please watch it i did just about everything in that movie to make my residents and children laugh i have a gift of doing that and i do it well when i go home i have s huge smile on face knowing i made a difference in the children and residents lives you treat a disease you when you lose but you treat a person you're guaranteed to win every time and that movie took my career on a whole new level for the last 17 years of going and traveling to hospitals nursing homes and entertaining children with cancer and I love it and I enjoyed it and it's the best thing I ever do and that sets a great feeling and knowing that I can make a difference and somebody's lives

Also not everyone see animals as deserving of protection because they don't have a value for animals life.

So before I say this i want you to understand I completely agree i hate seeing animals harmed but yet will eat meat because as American this was how we were taught.

Here is the facts when you think about it.

Here in America it is disgusting to neglect animals but we kill and butcher cows and turkeys, and chickens, we rip their eggs from them and eat them.

We pick and choose which animals we think deserve our respect and which don't.

Other countries do it to. Other countries find what we do to cows as disgusting because they are sacred.

Some countries think we are ridiculous for caring for dogs and cats.

It really depends what animals you find value in.

You know what I mean?

I mean what we do to cows, chicken fish and other animals, is it really any different?

Because they tend to have many issues going on in their lives, and animals tend to be the easiest thing to lash out at.

They could always cook the animal and wear it's skin. That's fine.

It does depend on the lifestyle I’ll admit that.

I think back of all my pets that were neglected and abused. Why? The lifestyle of it. It also taught me a lot from it too. Since I probably wasn’t ready for a pet even though I tried to educate myself on them and spoil them.

But my parents didn’t want them inside the house and saw them as a chore and disgusting creatures. To which my pets ran away and were put down by the shelter.

aww im so sorry to hear that i went threw some abuse so did my pets my parents got me a puppy when i was 7 bit dad always beat me and the puppy till one day pepper didn't take it anymore and bit my dad then dad gave him to shelter where they put pepper down and even in past relationships i would come home from work women would give my dog away to get a cat they wanted never ever caring about me if i found a woman that actually cared about me i would have a ❤ attack

I think kids get abused worse than animals do sometimes. Animals may get abused by their owners but some parents kill their kids by their abuse.

In California, where I live, animal abuse is a felony as it should be. Animal abusers are the only type of patients I cannot bring myself to treat.
