If a person is messed up enough to abuse an animal, then a fine or year in prison is not going to deter them from doing it again. How many times could they have gotten away with it before they were eventually caught and fined/put in jail for a year? So they will do it again. Or do worse.

But you also cannot condemn someone who made a mistake and he won't do it again by a prison for life, these days some people are committing crimes against other human beings and they aren't getting a lifr sentence, how about an animal, in the end it's just an animal...

I guess we are different and yes i believe that a person who can kill an animal might be able to kill a human, i don't like to hurt any lifeform but humans are on a totally different level, i cannot apply the same punishments for abusing animals and abusing animals...
