Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yBody Language cues of someone Lying
The signs however, aren’t foolproof — These are not 100% but indicators that someone maybe lying –Accuracy comes with experience.
Body Cues
The hands: Liars tend to use gestures with their hands after they speak as opposed to during or before a conversation. The mind is doing too many things including making up the story, figuring out if they’re being believed and adding to the story accordingly. So normal gesturing that might normally happen just before a statement happens after the statement.”Itching and fidgeting: Rocking the body back and forth, cocking the head to the side or shuffling the feet can also be signs of deception.
Facial Cues
The eyes: Someone who is lying might stare or look away at a crucial moment, says Glass - a possible sign they’re moving their eyes around as they try to think about what to say next, people sometimes look away briefly when lying. Those who lie are more likely to stare at the people they were lying to, than those who are truthful. The mouth: Rolling the lips back to the point where they almost disappear could be a sign someone is lying by omission, people tend to do that when they’re holding back emotions or facts.
Change in complexion: Ever notice someone go white as a ghost when speaking? This signals blood rushing out of the face.
Sweating or dryness: Autonomic nervous system changes can trigger liars to sweat in the T-area of the face (upper lip, forehead, chin and around the mouth) or have dryness in the mouth and eyes - the person might excessively blink or squint, lick or bite their lips or swallow hard..
Tone of Voice
A high-pitched voice: When people are nervous, the muscles in the vocal cords might tighten up (an instinctive response to stress), leading the voice to sound very high-pitched. You might also notice a creak in someone’s voice. Clearing the throat, a means of coping with the discomfort of the tightened muscles, can also at times signal dishonesty, she says.A sudden change of volume: People who fib also tend to raise their voices, they’ll get louder because they get defensive.
Content of Speech
Phrases such as ‘I want to be honest with you,’ ‘honestly’ or ‘let me tell you the truth’: These can be signs someone may be trying a little too hard to convince you of their honesty.Using words such as, ‘uh,’ ‘like’ and ‘um’: speaking with more vocal fillers can be a common indicator of deception. People tend to use these words more when they’re trying to buy time to figure out what they’re going to say next.
Slip-ups: Most of us are not natural-born liars. So sometimes, they’ll let the truth slip out. Notice someone saying things like, “I was fired - no, wait, I mean I quit” or “I was out to dinner with So-and-So - wait actually, I was working late.” You might have a liar on your hands.

Actually none of that is telling of if they are lying or not, most people do those things for many reasons, even when being truthful, and many people can lie without doing any of that.
The only way to tell if a person is lying is through evidence of the contrary to their claim, coupled with evidence that they in fact knew the truth (It is nearly impossible in most cases to find the latter).
Opinion Owner1 y@TheSpaceGnome I did say that they are INDICATORS, reading body language takes time and experience, that points you in the direction to look for evidence, that is exactly what police do.

They aren't indicators, again. people do them for many reasons that do not involve lies, thus they indicate nothing.

1 yNot relationship wise but like I got lied to a lot I don't really find out after because my friend tells me he's a real friend. Have a learning disability though to where I am extremely slow at Learning. My parents are going to put me on disability when I get of age.
I have to be honest though just because I have a learning disability doesn't mean I don't understand things. It hurts when my parents say they wish I looked a certain way because some people look a certain way and I don't have their mental illness it's like that's a whole different thing compared to me. I get why they say it though it's so that way people would be more understanding. I'm just dumb pretty much to put it mildly. Lol

1 yA liar will always look you hard in the eye. People think liars won't look you in the eye so liars knowing this will actually look you directly in the eye. If a person is making more direct eye contact than normal I'd be suspicious.
People make mistakes or forget little details when taking, we all have those little brain farts. But liars seem to recall things to clearly like it's rehearsed and no piecing together an actual memory. If their natural speaking style changes be suspicious l
Reputation is the best guide, once a liar always a liar. Try asking a question you already know the answer to see if they answer honesty and if they lie how they go about it10 Reply

1 yThe one I focus on the most is during cry fits. If the mouth is turned up like a smile (yes even with tears), it's fucking fake dude. Real cries have an actual frown. The corners of the mouth will be down... just like me talking about my child abuse as a kid.
I know a lot more tricks of that trade but that one just really stands out to me. It's like the fact that they're using trickery to fool people about how they feel, actually makes them smile. While someone that's sad, like actually sad, it requires more muscle flexing to actually make a frown. But something makes them feel enough pain to actually bring pain to their face.
The fakers basically smile in your face even when they're pretending to be sad.

Hmmmm child abuse? If I remember right, @horndog_harry kicked his sister in the boobs and then protected his daughter from Joe Biden's claws.

The movement of their eyes can be an indication they are lying , just as well as their body movements , as well , usually if someone is speaking very highly of themselves and acting like their shit don’t stink they are usually talking out their ass and lying about who they truly are , to make themselves come off better than what they actually are. The crazy thing is some liars are good at lying , they pretty much mastered the art of lying and sometimes it’s hard to tell if they are lying or telling the truth. So it’s best to be wise and have common sense when it comes to talking to people ,

1 yTypically a professional liar it would come out naturally to them so it would be very hard to know and sometimes impossible.

When I was a kid, kid eyes would get big when they lied.
Later as I grew , I typically saw liars stories many times didn’t add up , so check if the story adds up.
Here’s a link to a YouTube video explaining more details of know to detect a liar.11 ReplyHope the video helps

1 yYou never really know unless they confess. But experts in deception tend to agree that the likelihood of deception increases with every identifiable tell. Those whose safety and/or career depend upon the ability to detect deception generally increase suspicion after recognizing at least three of the most common indicators. There are about a half dozen that any schlub could learn and apply for themselves. You should really closely examine your motivations for doing so though. You can’t unlearn it once you know how to spot lying. People you have trusted for a long time will suddenly be exposed to you as liars, possibly habitual liars at that. If you’re not already comfortable with the idea that a LOT of people lie a LOT, learning to detect deception could hurt more than it helps.

There is a book written by FBI psychologist (I don't remember his name), it's worth reading if you want to know how body language of people who lie looks like.
"Do eyes reveal lies?"
Yes, but not only

1 yEveryone has a tell. You have to learn what each person's tell is. It could be a change in breathing, eyes blinking, looking away, getting flushed, fidgeting, scratching themselves, body position, etc. That's what makes it hard, since everyone's tell is different, and often subtle.

Watch the eyes, in the moment.
Over time, watch their behaviour - nobody can live a lie consistently over time.10 Reply1K opinions shared on Other topic. Sometimes they do. But sometimes you meet a good PUA or con artist and the eyes don’t give away their intentions.

1 yPinocchio effect. Tip of the nose turns slightly red. Not a reaction one can control. Also maintaining eye contact. They HAVE to see if you believe them
10 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Other topic. These days it's almost impossible to tell the difference between someone who is lying and someone who earnestly believes a lie. So, I just look for inconsistencies and attempts to be objective, then assign credibility based on that.

1 yLike with a boxers next punch, they will often make a slight move before each one. People give tells when talking/expressing themselves. Learn a persons tells and they speak volumes over what they want you to believe is truth.

1 yLooking someone straight into their eyes when asking them a question, very few people can lie whilst looking back at you directly, UNLESS they have been warned to do so!
01 ReplyFailing that, listen for tonal changes in their voice!
Do like I do, be brutally honest and tell them the truth, even if it hurts their shitty feelings.

1 yYou would have to find proof that their claim is wrong, and proof that they new it was wrong when making the claim.
