Fourteen members of these two groups have pleaded guilty to or been convicted for seditious conspiracy for their involvement in the insurrection. Trump saw them and encouraged them again from his vantage point nearby, and told them he was coming to join them. During that speech, Trump went off script to tell the massive crowd, many of whom he knew were armed and prepared for violence, “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol” to “fight like hell.” The only thing that kept him away was that his secret service driver refused Trump's orders to take him there and instead took him back to the White House.

All that he said to the crowd was televised and available for all to hear. Your refusal to accept that it was said is your own alternate reality. The crowd that came due to Trump pushed at police barricades and used various poles to beat and stab the police. They broke into the building and damaged many items inside and stole many others. They all were intent on stopping the lawful actions of the Vice-President in certifying the true election results. They even built a gallows that they threatened to use on Pence. Trump refused to tell them not to do that and much of what he said encouraged them to continue the lawlessness.

Ayres had gone to the Capitol because, as he put it, “the President got everybody riled up and told everybody to head on down. So we basically was just following what he said.”
What did Trump say later about the violence? Trump celebrated and justified his mob’s violence, tweeting “These are the things and events that happen” when a so-called election victory is “unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots. … Remember this day forever!”

Interestingly, though, assuming he uses New York as his residence, he would not be allowed to vote... for himself or anyone else... until he serves his sentence, and that hasn't been determined yet.

Pick NY Governor Kathy Hochul as his VP running mate, on the condition that she pardon him before the election. Then, he wouldn't be a felon, and Hochul might bring along some Democrat and Women votes to his side. Besides, polls show that New Yorkers don't like her anyway. Could help her political career.

First of all this has nothing to do with Florida, this is a New York state case.

Secondly it is absolutely correct. This is a matter of federal law and when the case is pending appeal his voting rights are intact.

This is all according to the US Vote Foundation, a non-profit organization.

OK, well, Trump was convicted in New York, so now we need to determine if Trump, a convicted felon, can vote in New York if he lived there.

"You lose the right to vote while incarcerated if you are convicted of a felony. If you are on parole, probation, or have fully completed your sentence, you may register to vote and cast a ballot. Your voting rights can be revoked again if conditions of your parole are violated."

So, to me, the key thing here is "while incarcerated". That seems to be an extra condition. So, even if Trump is currently a convicted felon, he is not yet incarcerated.

HOWEVER, he will be sentenced on July 11th.
If he is incarcerated then, then he would not be allowed to vote in New York and thus not allowed to vote in Florida.

Since the election is 3 months after the sentencing, we really won't know an answer to this question of Trump's suffrage until July 11th.

So, my takeaway is this:

It would be an outrage if this crooked judge, who has massive conflicts of interest and should have recused himself before the trial even started and had so many appealable Constitutional violations in the course of this case would sentence President Trump to one second of jail time when no other defendant would receive such a sentence given the same circumstances of being a first time "offender" for the lowest level of felony involving an alleged misdemeanor white collar crime on which the statute of limitations had already expired before the charges were filed and for which the prosecution cannot even name the felony on which the jury found him guilty.

This case is a sham, a kangaroo court, and an outrageous violation of President Trump's rights and a disgrace to the entire legal system. The only people who should be going to prison are the corrupt government employees who brought the case in the first place.

Yes! There is nothing about felony convictions prohibiting a person from becoming The President of The United States of America, in the US Construction. The only requirements listed in the Constitution for eligibility to become president are:
1). The person must be at least 35 years of age.
2). They mist be a natural born citizen.
3). They must have resided I the US for 14 years prior to running for president.

Not sure where you’re seeing these poll numbers but my initial impression is we just don’t know yet. They could improve among his base, but i also think that independents and the nikki haley conservatives are gonna just not vote for him altogether over him being a convicted felon (I recall maybe 10-15% saying a convicted would matter). They may not vote Biden but may just sit the election out altogether. We’ll see all the poll numbers real soon.

The rest of what you said there, ill admit im no lawyer and the intricacies of the case i may be ignorant of but i watch all sorts of lawyer people and prosecutors, people involved in the justice system and most i watch say this case was pretty straightforward and the defense in particular had no real strategy beyond just attacking cohens character.

In our constitution (Australia) there is a section that allows parliament to make laws on eligibility. In recent times on a constitutional basis some elected representatives were disqualified due holding dual citizenship in another country.

A conviction with imprisonment for one year or longer would disqualify a person from being in parliament. It would be a bit strange if there wasn't something similar in yours.

Just because New York Calls him a felon does not mean he is nor that any other state agrees. The New York "justice" system is more of a political inquisition has been for many years, which is why they have soo much crime.

The New York 'conviction' depended upon Trump being guilty of 1 of 2 other laws for which Trump was never even charged, neither of which was specified.
Thus it was impossible for him to defend himself against either charge and was simply presumed guilty of both without trial.

Its not a question of if but when it's reversed. Sadly the New York appeals process which Trump has to go thou is long and slow enough as to all but guaranteed it won't happen before the election.

1. I don't think there's any law preventing a felon from receiving national security briefings, especially in this case since it was white collar crime with no direct victims.
2. The Commander in Chief is not a member of the military, so it should be okay.
3. One of the options is house arrest. Legally, a President could continue to serve, but his effectiveness would be limited if he can't travel.

I have another question that I don't know the answer to. Does the Republican Party's rules and bylaws allow a convicted felon to be nominated, or win the nominations. If the answer is no, would Trump convention delegates be free to vote any way they wanted, or would they have to vote for Trump on the first ballot, then have that ballot invalidated, freeing them for later ballots?

And one more interesting question. The US Constitution leaves it up to each state about how to assign electors to the Electoral College. That would allow some states to pass legislation that a felon cannot get any of the state's electoral votes, which means that Trump could carry the state and still not get any electoral votes.
