Yes. Let nothing impede him. The instant he is silenced in any way the GOP will unleash their stockpile of messaging they have lying in wait for that moment, to try to claim his victimhood as their own. They know they can't get the Maga base any other way than either by nominating Trump or by making a martyr of Trump. And the republican party despises Trump so they really want to make a martyr of him - thats why they are holding debates, after all, in preparation for when trump is silenced.
@exitseven the problem republicans have is no one wants to vote for their disastrous policies. So they have to make people mad enough that acting on anger is more important than making wise policy decisions and, as you implied, Trump does that better than anyone. Short of maybe dumping steroids in the water for some roid rage there just aren't any other options for republicans, being outnumbered and all..
Am I remembering incorrectly? I thought a felony conviction precluded holding the office. If not, sure he should be allowed to, because the law of the land applies to everybody. Hahaha... okay... no seriously... it SHOULD apply to everybody.
Nope ofc not. Biden as well, apart from the fact that everyone is corrupt, they are old as f!

The whole idea of the presidency was to give the various states, if enough of them were of the same mind, to have a powerful executive figure in government that could frustrate or break up oligarchy. So let the electorates of the states decide. If they think the candidate is unworthy for office, they won’t vote for him. If they think the charges are politically motivated, perhaps they will.
Why not? It's been done twice before. Once in 1992 (no not Clinton suprisingly😆), and once in 1920. It's just never made news because neither candidate was a viable threat to win.
So if the powers that be try to do this it will be SPECIFICALLY for Trump.
I think it matters what the charge and sentence is…but I believe there is a clause against criminals.
No the ass should stay in jail like he belongs
According to the Constitution he could even run from the big house.
according to the 12th amendment there is only an issue with the vice president is disqualified to run if he would not be qualified to be president. Things like being 35 years old and a natural born citizen. Nothing says that he could not be president from prison and many legal scholars have confirmed this.
He's not actually wrong, for normal crimes.
However, the 14th amendment specifies that he's ineligible if he, "having previously taken an oath... to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof". Which he has done.
Determination of that case does not require a conviction, it merely requires election officials to make the determination that Jan 6 was an insurrection (a dozen people have been convicted of seditious conspiracy against the government for Jan 6), and that Trump engaged in it. Trump would then have to sue to get on the ballot, and even Federalist Society lawyers are saying he should lose.
@goaded It has not been proven that what happened on Jan6th was an insurrection and even if they somehow stretch the truth that far it cannot be proven that President Trump participated in it. He told people to march "peacefully and patriotically" and he was the one that wanted to deploy additional national guard troops.
The fake Jan6th committee has shredded all material from their investigation. Why do you think that happened?
It was an insurrection and it has been proven in court.
A New Mexico judge removed an elected official from office and banned him from elected office for life for participating in the insurrection; the state supreme court upheld the ruling.
Nobody would have been there on Jan 6, if Trump hadn't called them there. Nobody.
He knowingly sent an armed mob to the Capitol that he'd convinced with his lies that the election was stolen and that they had to fight. Five of the people convicted for seditious conspiracy were Proud Boys, the people Trump had commanded to "stand back and stand by".
@goaded he did not "send an armed mob to the capitol." Domocrats and their propaganda organization will repeat that over and over again and people like you will believe it. If enough people repeat it enough times it will become internalized by the masses. Look how many people do not thinkvtheclast election was not stolen even though common sense alone would say otherwise.
Look at the charges and the timing of all this and the kangaroo courts that are being assembled. Look at the timeliness of when the indictments occurred. They line up perfectly with something Biden needed to distract the public from. Of course the election was stolen. They are trying some of the same things the did before. The sudden surge in illegal aliens streaming into this country now is just a way to increase their voting base. Pennsylvania has just announced that people are automatically registered to vote by getting a driver's license. Next they will be giving illegal aliens drivers licenses. Pennsylvania is a swing state. Can you connect the dots?
Wow. Do you know what DARVO means? ↗
"he did not "send an armed mob to the capitol.""
Yes, he did. He gathered his supporters, he knew they were armed (“They’re not here to hurt me. Take the f---ing mags away.”), he sent them to the Capitol to fight.
"[Democrats] and their propaganda organization will repeat that over and over again"
That's because it's the truth. You're the one believing lies. (Are you still waiting for the proof Trump and Lindell promised you over and over again?)
"people like you will believe it." Oh, the irony!
"If enough people repeat it enough times it will become internalized by the masses. Look how many people do not thinkvtheclast election was not stolen even though common sense alone would say otherwise."
Your "common sense" disagrees with every election official in the entire country, Democrat and Republican.
"Look at the timeliness of when the indictments occurred. They line up perfectly with something Biden needed to distract the public from."
Reality: Republicans make baseless accusations against Biden every time another indictment occurs. (There's still no indication that President Biden has broken any law.)
"Of course the election was stolen."
Reality: Nope. Trump and his Republican allies in Congress had a good go at it.
"They are trying some of the same things the did before. The sudden surge in illegal aliens streaming into this country now is just a way to increase their voting base."
Reality: Non-citizens are not allowed to vote in federal elections. (Some, in some places, are allowed to vote in e. g. school district elections.)
"Pennsylvania has just announced that people are automatically registered to vote by getting a driver's license."
Reality: people are automatically registered to vote WHEN THEY GET a driver's license and have the necessary PROOF of citizenship.
"Next they will be giving illegal aliens drivers licenses."
Maybe, but they still won't be entitled to vote.
@goaded did you see or hear a single video clip of Trumps's speech. The one where he said March peacefully and patriotically to the Capitol and let your voice be heard. ? That's right, the fake news never ran that because that is the truth about what really happened and does not incriminate President Trump. Stop watching The View all the time and maybe you will learn something besides Orange man bad
"the fake news never ran that" Yes, they did. On the day, the precise words of that "perfect" speech were overridden by the actions of the people he'd called there and sent to the Capitol thinking the election had been stolen and they had to fight for their country. They fought. They fought the police.
There's a transcript here, and I've seen a lot of it, it's been shown on many platforms, many times.

Trump's call to be peaceful (written by his script-writers) was as serious as this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVznerpOkTI
As opposed to democrats telling the 2920brioters to get in Rrpublicams faces and demonstrations are supposed to be violent. ? There were others that contributed to the billion dollars wort of damage and the loss of life that was 2020 yet nobody was prosecuted because, well because democrats.
@exitseven Honestly true, in the abstract or absurdum, there’s no direct statement on Trump’s part. His inaction to Pelosi’s begging to send the National Guard etc, not sending a cease and desist tweet…are suspect.
But the point: He’s toast in Georgia. Probably on documents too. That fckin recording…

SO…if these cases earn conviction before Election Day 2024, we might have a Constitutional crisis. Even out of office Trump can’t stop pushing the limits. Honestly I love it.
This is like our country going to the gym after years of couch surfing…lol
Are you suggesting Trump would be such an idiot as to explicitly say any of those things? The evidence that he caused all of those things is that he called his supporters to an event that would normally not have been attended. How many protesters were there on Jan 6 2001, 2005, 2009, 2013?
www.merriam-webster.com/.../be%2Fget%20in%20someone%27s%20face
"to criticize or shout at someone in a very direct and angry way"
Over ten thousand people were convicted of crimes related to the BLM protests (there were tens of millions of supporters of the cause).
It was to prevent the Trumps of the world from becoming dictators. 44 presidents passed over power peacefully, then came Trump. How can you not see this?
No matter how upset or cheated a losing candidate felt, they ALL congratulated their opponent and exhorted their supporters to work harder next time. Except Trump, who said they had to fight or they wouldn't have a country any more.
@exitseven lol, I love your zeal. It’s cultish, which i never get. But there’s ZERO evidence of Biden’s corruption. And Trump’s swamp so very deep he will drown…unless he’s elected and pardons himself. Lol
@goaded therexwas never a more crooked election where there were irregularities of so many different kinds. Besides all the fake mail in ballots there was the spiking of the Hunter laptop bu the news media and Twitter. The phony statement bu tjise 50 stooges who said the laptop was Russian disinformation, the in action of the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to investigate any of the more than a thousand complaints of voter fraud, the voting machines that were tampered with and then wiped clean despite orders from the state to not wipe the hard drives. How the news media was so quick to dismiss all the fraud that went on right in ftmrontvof their eyes. The number of times Trump had the lead and then truckloads of mail in ballots were delivered and when the demicratsxwere finished counting it looke like Biden was the winner. The mail in ballots in some cases were 90% for Biden and the down ticket elections were left blank. That is statistically impossible. And then we have a candidate who ran on a platform of raising taxes, taking away your guns and shipping your job to China or in the case of people in the energy sector, eliminate their jobs altogether. Who would vote for that? Has anyone ever thought about that. One candidate can fill a stadium of enthusiastic people and also attract just as big of a crowd outside and the other candidate can barely get a couple of hundred people to show up. The whole thing just does not add up.
@goaded watch out for the spam!
