Whether or not you agree with the verdict, it is what it is. Whether or not it will be overturned, it hasn't. Trump was on trail and found guilty. Because of who he is, he isn't awaiting sentencing in jail.

You don't have to be sentenced to be convicted. The jury (or judge in cases without a jury) finding you guilty means you are convicted.

I hold the election of public office to a high standard. Since colleges can deny applicants who have a criminal record, I feel that a criminal record should also prevent you from holding public office.

People who aren't convicted don't lose their trial. That's literally what it means when a defendant loses a trial such as this, they're convicted of the crime they were accused of. Until it is overturned on appeal or Trump has served his sentence, he is a convicted felon. Trump doesn't even deny this, he says it wasn't a just trial and it will be overturned on appeal, but he doesn't argue that they convicted him.

Not exactly, a sitting president can't, and before the recent SCOTUS ruling, all his actions in office were not immune from prosecution. It's recognized that as POTUS, he may need to do things things that would be illegal as a private citizen. However, Trump's actions regarding Stormy Daniels happened before he was president and a nominee/candidate is not immune from prosecution, nor are actions happening before or after taking office.

If you go to court and the jury finds you not guilty, you aren't a convicted felon. You are considered to have been wrongly accused. Trump was accused of falsifying buisness records to pay off Stormy Daniels. He was found guilty of that. If another politician pays off someone by falsifying business records, in order for them to be a convicted felon, they need to go through court proceedings lime Trump had to. The jury needs to find them guilty. We operate under the legal belief of "innocent until proven guilty".

However, until it is overturned on appeal (which may not happen), he's a convicted felon. If it's overturned, he isn't, but you can't know that the appeal will overturn the conviction.
