Businesses that can afford to pay more have better workers, yes, but businesses that have it forced on them disappear. When walmart lobbies for min wage increase their competition goes bye bye. Doesn’t happen. Economic literature these days a) shows very limited inflation increases when minimum wage increases and b) there is no definitive agreed-upon effect on employment, often no change after minimum wage increases
