Absolutely NOT!! What would be the point of it? Companies start paying employees more money, that means, for them to be able to do that, they HAVE to start charging more for their products/services!! That means the people that were already making nice money won't be able to afford that stuff anymore so THEY ask for a raise from THEIR company! They get the raise they needed to continue to get by but THEIR company has to raise THEIR prices, now!! The people that were buying their stuff can't afford it anymore and ask for a raise, they get the raise and that forces THEIR prices up so now, the first people that got the raise can't afford THEIR stuff anymore so, they ask for ANOTHER raise!! So, THEIR prices have to go up, again and you're right back where you started!!
STOP being so fucking GREEDY!! MAYBE, if you didn't think it was PERFECTLY FINE to pay $200 for a fucking pair of sneakers just because it has a specific insignia on the side, you could SAVE some of that money you make!! In one of my last jobs, about 8 years ago, I was only making 7 or 8 an hour and, after just a few years, I was able to save up over $20,000!! I had food to eat, clothes to wear, the bills got paid, the dog got fed, and I would splurge a bit every so often and was STILL able to save up a lot of money!! I'm not a fashion save so, I couldn't give a flying fuck what insignia is on my clothes!! As long as they do what they're made to do, that's good enough!! Just because you HAVE some money doesn't mean you HAVE to BLOW IT!!
No. It should be set by the states, as it currently is. If you absolutely HAVE to raise it federally, though, then for pity's sake, have the sense to do it SLOWLY. Doubling it overnight would cause even MORE inflation, and we're already reeling from that.
It hasn't been raised in 14 years.
@WalnutButter And even then, it was lower than it should've been. That doesn't mean raising it too quickly now won't have even worse consequences.
It's nearly $16.00 in my state, and nothing has really changed. Let's dump all unions to make up for it.
@WalnutButter That would make wages go DOWN. The era of responsible purchasing is long gone.
That makes no sense.
@WalnutButter The only reason wages are as high as they are is because union protections kept monopolistic companies in check- the minimum wage didn't even EXIST (in the US, at least) until 1938.
The company does not have your best interests at heart. The government does not have your best interests at heart. Today, they're probably in bed together. The bet outcomes will result from the distribution of power; a system of checks and balances, just like in running a country. Unions are the third leg of that table- responsible consumers are the fourth, but that leg fell off long ago. A three-legged table can stand, if unsteadily; a two-legged table collapses.
The guy pushing a broom at General Motors, shouldn't be making 5 times more than the guy pushing a broom at Target. Dump the unions, and then dump minimum wage. People who are anti minimum wage, always say that the market should decide the wage. I agree. Dump the unions and then let the chips fall where they may.
@WalnutButter And they'll quickly fall into people unionizing again. The chips HAVE fallen where they may; were you under the impression that modern economics was handed down to Moses on the stone tablets?
In my state, if your young child wants to change from a girl to a boy, and you don't allow it, the state can take your child.
I don't want to hear about chips falling or laws. Having classified documents in your garage is OK with libs. Unions are allowed and worshiped by Dems, because of the donations/bribes.
It should be higher than 7-whatever it is but 15's a bit too high
It hasn't been raised in 14 years. I wonder if congress voted to raise their pay.

It should be higher than that. This is only good if the companies are not allowed to raise prices. So a price and rent freeze is needed. This is the only way the working man can enjoy his gains. Goverment intervention or some forms of Democratic Socialism are going to be needed in the future as the rich get richer and poor get poorer. This is the only hope for the working man/wage earner as technology kills more jobs and capitalism gets more and more out of control as we become more and more like a Latin American economy. AI and global warming are symptoms of out of control capitalism. Use it, drain it, sap it till it cannot put out then sell it to the highest bidder. Capitalism is a form of Social Darwinism.
But the working man WON'T enjoy his gains if companies have to raise wages without raising prices, because then the companies will go out of business. All that will remain are the companies that can afford to bleed money for a while, until they either become strong through monopolization or simply bribe enough officials to change the laws.
You can't decry capitalism for making the rich richer and then advocate for a program that would do the same faster and more thoroughly.
Depends. Not many Americans are worth 15 bucks an hour.
No, that doesn't make sense. If you guarantee a higher hourly wage it just means employers will pay you for fewer hours to cut costs.
That's not true at all.
Nope. I don’t want even more people under the poverty line
Some states have already done that, so yes I think so.
It's close to $16.00 in my state.
@WalnutButter Sweet.
Everyone said that no one could afford a hamburger. Wrong. The lines are as long as ever.
Like we need more inflation...
I asked a financial expert what really causes inflation. It wasn't what you think.
@WalnutButter Haha..."financial expert" is one small step above "influencer" or "entrepreneur". Oh well shit. That one was the correct one.
You give everybody a million bucks you don't think prices go up afterwards?
You went from minimum wage to a million bucks. I think you should be an influencer.
@WalnutButter Haha touche. It'll be my third career along with towing the planes at the airport in those little cards.
Cart, not card. Stupid speech to text.
Prior to Biden, unions caused inflation. Mafia-driven wages are way worse than a decent minimum wage.
@WalnutButter I believe federal minimum wage laws interfere with an individual's right to contract. I'm not going to pay you $15/hour to water my plants trim the weeds. I WILL pay you ten though. But now you're not eating tonight and my yard is a mess because "the government says I have to pay you $15/hour"... but that's not really what the government is saying. Now I'm not paying you anything and where's the government in that conversation?
The government sets their own wage. What a scheme they have going. And water your own yard. Trust me, you will be the one losing. Why should government unions be legal? Why should any union be legal? It's a scam.
@WalnutButter I agree with all of that, except I travel for work and my plants need water. If they don't get watered, i'm losing, yes, because they'll be dead.
Dump the unions, and then dump minimum wage. People who say it should all be market-driven, hate when I say union jobs should be market-driven. You can't have it both ways.
@WalnutButter You got my vote.
Absolutely not.
Yes.
