I only care that people I have known for years upon years and have been close to give an honest assessment of me. I don’t really care much what they say, so long as it is truthful. I don’t like when they lie or gossip with speculation about me. If they don’t know, they should say they don’t know not talk out their ass. Anyone else, I don’t care at all.

It depends on who it is. If I don't care about them, then no, I don't care. Most people are completely wrong in what they assume about me. But if I care about them, like my students, then yeah, I do care and don't want to leave a bad impression.
Yes... I guess. Sort of. I think it's cool if people like me and the things I do but I ain't going to bend my ways to make them or attract anyone towards me. I'll do what I do and others can follow if they want.
But they're going to think of me then they have to know me you don't know me then they can't think of me or having opinion

Sometimes it's not even about attracting people from the opposite gender, it's just about building up friendship, I should care of what they think of me. I don't live inside a bubble.
I used to when I was younger, I guess we want to be liked by our friends and people we work with but now in my 6th decade, I still like to be liked but I care not about whether someone dislikes me for whatever reason.

That makes sense, because caring what others think presumably has a lot to do with maintaining or improving your place in the pecking order.
