Why do people judge a person without even knowing them?

Like the first time they meet briefly and one look at them they already start hating & judging. Not talking about relationships/genders. Talking about in general in regards to people

Jealousy and fear. I learned this lesson long ago as child. Plus I am Christian and Jesus said Judge not Or thou shalt be judged. One incident comes to mind. I worked in Health Club and I newest salesperson. Well a woman came in that use to walk by thE club everyday with a grocery cart full of trash. She also wear raggedy cloths, altough she did not smell. She wanted to check the club out. No one wanted to do it so I got too. I treated her like any other guest and by the time I was finished with the tour. I found out her husband and her owned most of the land around the club and she was picking up trash to keep her land clean. I sold her a membership at the time you could sell lifetime memberships, and it cost $1800. We walked up the cashier to pay, she pulls out a roll of $100 bills. I just smiled at the other sales guys. Later I told them never judge a book by its cover. Plus I also remembered a saying, My mother and family friend said' Be careful how you treat others, you never know you could be entertaining an Angel"

I like this question because this happens to me quite often I'll be at work trying to finish something up somebody will show up that I know introduce me to this person and I'm busy I'm working I'll say hi they're trying to talk and I'm just yes no I'm paying attention to what I'm doing they leave and maybe a week later I will run into the person that was introduced to me and I will start talking with them and they just kind of like look at me and the smile go what's up with you and don't say what do you mean and they will say well the day that I was introduced to you I thought you were kind of cold and you were kind of an asshole you really a nice guy I said no I'm sorry I was at work I was working I had to get my job then but for that whole week I was known as the asshole the cold guy rude whenever LOL but now they want to be best friends I've never got it never understood it myself

In my job we ain't paid to judge, we have to treat everyone neutral.. if I wanted to judge anyone I'd have gone into law or be a dance teacher...

People make split second judgments about people because as a species we have to assess danger. We haven’t evolved enough away from that yet.

As a woman, it is a lot more essential to our safety. Sometimes when you meet a guy for the first time they just creep you out. It’s not about how dorky they are or their interests, but our own safety. Of course we aren’t always correct, but being wrong is better than taking the risk of rape/murder.

We are social beings, we judge everything and everybody. I haven't found a single person who has not judged anything at all.
We make 100s of assumptions and linger on to the closest match, but yes it changes once you know more about the person.
But there are some things one should never judge a person on... Clothes, money coz no one can ever have any idea what that other person been through.

I only do this if that person is of a racial, ethnic, religious, political or national background that has repeatedly wronged me. That's how society is today. Everyone is put on the stand and judged. Personally, I never judge a book by the cover. I like to look inside and read the whole book before I review it. It's better to be open minded than closed book
