Is this a little annoying from gays?

This is pride month right? Ok. Based on that. I dont know if it happens where you live or with gays friends you may have. But wehre I live things like taht happen specially on social media by gay friends I have. I rspect them and tolerate them and they are nice people, but certain gay attitudes or behavior really is annoying. Do they do this to draw attention or want to piss people off.

Since it is pride month. The gay friends I have,. very often this month, post everyday things related to pride month, like bombard their social media accoutns with advertising about gay rights, here and there. They can't stop posting gay related stuff, whether is products advertising, gay movies,, gay memes, , etc. But they flood and push the agenda almsot everyday with things like that. I mean really? Is it really necessary to do that?

People already know their rights and stuff, they dont have to repeat straight people everyday about them and shvoe it in our faces.

So 11 months of the year we have to see examples everywhere of straight couples and people talking about straight pride parades and people denying services because of who we love, but one month a year lgbt members get to stand up to say "hey we exist too" and that's a problem? This month is here to give hope to others who may be afraid to come out because of dangerous living conditions. It is here to celebrate those who fought and died before us so that we could even be where we are. It is to help normalize a marginalized community. It's to give role models that we can look up to that identify as we do when we go to see movies or listen to music. Most importantly it is here to have some fun.

As in every group you will always have the ones who really go all out and it can be overwhelming, but let us just have our month.

But I have seen soem gays exxagerating on things, and act like drama queens to draw attention to them. I mean stop acting like drama queens and grow up.

No one cares if you're gay or lesbian, but why does your sexual preference need to flood out into the streets? And why does it seem like these events attract complete morons? I have both gay and lesbian friends and some don't act like circus freaks, others do like they do in parades, just to draw attention to them Also some don't go over the top about what they do.

Why should there be just an LGBT pride month? Why not a straight month also? gays, lesbians and bisexuals are nothing new, they've been around since ancient times.

You are absolutely incorrect about nobody caring. You don't care, don't generalize for the entire rest of the world. It doesn't revolve around you.

Again, it is about normalization and acceptance. I agree we shouldn't need a month, we should be accepted all year round. Having a month just means corporations get to slap a rainbow on their product and get money or free reputation for a month.

And a month of stupid lame pareades that gays do just to show off and draw attentiong to their outfits. Those paredes do not fix any problem or any rights that they are fighting for. The parades are just stupid.

Yeah? Pretty sure it does and until you better understand the subject perhaps you should consider making softer statements instead of declarative ones as you are doing now.

Let me give you an example.

When you say "one month does not do anything to fix the problem", you are making a hard declaration as if your opinion were fact. Now as an lgbt+ woman I can counter your claim that it does nothing because for me it did. I know it has for others. There are those of us who also don't think it should be confined to a month, but here we are.

Don't take this as an attack but this is an article wrote by someone who's biased to begin with I see tons of this every day. What I want is a live example from someone that's currently in a gay relationship. You personally, have you ever been denied any rights or services just because of who you're seeing?

I understand pride month in 1952 when being gay was a punishable offense but today there is none of that and yet you still shove this month once a year down everyone's throats with flags and parads that have absolutely no meaning and belong in a museum

@ZackBan Pride has never only been about fighting for equal rights. The fact that gay people can get married now and aren't being thrown in jail for being gay doesn't mean everything is fixed and LGBT people are treated as complete equals. And it doesn't change the fact that our rights and protections are still under constant threat of being repealed. Look at all the shit Trump did in four years, from banning trans people in the military, to allowing adoption agencies to turn away gay couples, to saying he would appoint supreme court judges who would overturn marriage equality laws.

Adoption agencies can turn away any couple they don't deem fit to be a parent. Allowing them turn away gay people is not the same as forbidding them from giving a kid to a gay couple and regardless those are minor issues not reason enough for full month of demonstrations and protests

@ZackBan Turning away gay people SPECIFICALLY because they are gay is discrimination. It's not the agency saying "We checked out out and your jobs/income/house don't meet our criteria for you to be parents" it's agencies going "You're gay so we won't even consider you as potential parents"

Also, minor issues? The minor issue of not being treated the same as straight/cis people? That minor issue of not having the same opportunities as others solely because of sexual orientation or gender identity? Those are minor issues?

But you know it's not about just the job and income.
And the irony is that adoption agencies can't give a child to a couple who will potentially take him to a pride parade where the kid will be exposed to all kinds of things that he is far too young for. This is a basic example of why gay people are being denied easy adoption it's because the LGBTQ+ community has built itself a reputation of being too sexual and too eccentric in everything and that's not an environment that a child can grow up in without seriours mental damage and identity crisis.
By toning it down a few notches and giving the public images that aside from sleeping with someone from the same sex gay people are totally normal people you will be treated as such. That's why I find pride month counter productive
