A lot of states have licenses (which is against the "supremacy" of the 2nd amendment I've been told about) but theyre as easy to get as asking the sherriff for one. Thats their opportunity to require a legitimate reason to own a gun.

@unbeatable
I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. The Constitution has in it was called the Supremacy Clause. It states the Constitution is the highest law of the land and NO state shall make laws which negate anything in the Constitution and that they shall obey what is written in the Constitution. The Bill of Rights, which contains the first 10 amendments of the Constitution was also drafted to further cement the individual rights granted in the Constitution. The the Constitution grants those rights and limits the states and federal governments from infringing on the and the Bill of Rights which was called redundant at the time it was drafted further spells out individual rights and freedoms.
That said states issuing licenses or mandating licenses for the ownership of fire arms is very likely illegal considering the Constitution and Bill of Rights both state that right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Notice it says “the right” not “the privilege” of the people to keep and bear arms. Requiring further licensing for firearm ownerships is infringing on the rights already granted. Individual states don’t get to override what both the Constitution and Bill of Rights grant to the individual by requiring all kinds of mandates to exercise the granted rights in both documents.
Additionally many states who are controlled by leftists have appointed judges to interpret what the Constitution means. Those judges have arrived at numerous conclusions regarding the 2nd Amendment by playing sociopathic word games. Some of those judges have tried to say the National
Guard IS the militia and they can be armed, but not the common man. I find it interesting that’s not what the framers of the Constitution and Bill of Rights stated in their own political essays, journals, and letters that the militia is defined as the entire populous of the common man. In fact the second Militia Act of 1792 MANDATED all free white men between the ages of 18-45 - +1 y
MUST own a musket and powder horn and bayonet and other essential military equipment.
No one in 1792 was hemming and hawing about the common man owning arms when that bill passed through Congress. Now all of a sudden in modern times, some judges have managed to determine in some states that outside of formal service in a militia it’s questionable as to whether the common man can own fire arms and further define the militia as the National Guard only. I find it very interesting they can “interpret” the Constitution in that manner despite the abundance of writings left to us by the men who wrote the Constitution which state the opposite. I further find it conspiratorial they manage to overlook legal prescience, as with the Militia Act of 1792 which mandated gun owner ship by all able bodied men and would in fact clearly define who the militia was. Just exactly how some corrupt judges can manage to “interpret” the Constitution and come to a completely different meaning from the men who wrote it is beyond me.

They just wanna line their own pockets. Republicans and democrats alike neither give a fuck about you. Why do you think people are struggling right now? Because both parties fucked everyone and sent 95% of the relief bill overseas to shit they probably have their hand in the pocket of whoever got the checks. Noone is afraid of changes. Nice try. We’re not talking about the past. I only mentioned the past to demonstrate that Judges whose job it is to interpret the Constitution are liars if they come to the conclusion the Constitution does not support the common man owing guns.
What you’re doing is comparing apples and oranges. The Constitution is the law of the land here. Doesn’t matter if it was written over 200 years ago. It still applies today. Your analogy of burning witches does not even apply.
In regards to your statements about hillbillies doing anything against our military…. we’ll let’s look at history again when a bunch of well armed farmers basically wiped out an entire regiment of Hessians near Saratoga. Quit listening to China Joe. The Viet Cong gave our military a long and vicious fight in Vietnam and guess what…. they were a militia.

+1 yThe Constitution is there to limit the power of the federal government. There is also the Bill of Rights which is the first 10 amendments of the Constitution which grant individual rights, the right to bear arms being one of those rights.
The two primary reasons the founding fathers wanted the right to bear arms was to 1. Enable the American citizen to resist its own government should it become tyrannical. 2. For the purposes of militias. At the time the Constitution was written the founding fathers preferred militias to a large standing professional army which one founding father referred to as “the bane of liberty” for national defense. The Militia act of 1792, which was federal law clearly stated that ALL free able bodied white males between the ages of 18 and 45 were considered part of the militia and the legislation further mandated they own a rifle, bayonet, powder horn and other essential military equipment.
Considering these facts I find it amazing some judges have managed to find leeway to limit gun ownership. We can read the statements of the men who wrote the Constitution and Bill of Rights and they clearly state they meant for all men to be armed and defined them as the militia. The Militia act of 1792 further exemplifies this as by law all able bodied men were mandated to own weapons and some basic military equipment. Some how these judges have managed to determine that’s not what the founding fathers meant at all and manage to rule in favor of laws that infringe on gun ownership, despite the numerous statements of the framers of the Constitution to the contrary in their own letters and writings and despite the fact there is legal precedence mandating gun ownership by the common man who is defined as the militia. Recently Texas and Iowa have gotten it right in favor of Constitutional Carry laws which is exactly how the founding fathers intended things to be.
Other purposes for owning firearms are clearly self defense, and sport for both target shooting and hunting.10 Reply
+1 yQuestions like this is the reason I STRONGLY believe every American should be required to live in a 3rd world country for a year around their 18 or 21 birthday. The constitution asside, having autonomy over your own safety is EXTREMELY empowering. When your own personal safety is dependent on powers outside of ur own, it makes u docile and dependent. When u ban guns u're only banning guns from law abiding citizens, criminals don't abide by laws. Lemme u something, do u beleive the black market is a myth? Because that's where cocaine, meth and all the wide variety of illegal substances that are outright banned and yet they are so easily accessible. Do you think banning guns will be any different? Unless u are real good friends with Thanos in his prime and he can just snap them all out of existence allong with all knowledge of them, by banning guns the only thing u achieve is disarming law abiding citizens and arming criminals. Before coming to the USA I lived in a country where guns are illegal and only the policenand military is allowed to have them. Yet I have witness with my own two eyes one guy with a. 38 special with just 6 rounds terrorize and entire community of over 10,000 people. He would walk around and go into anyone's house he wanted, take whatever he wanted and rape whoever he wanted. He raped and little girl and her mother in front of the father and the father went insane that very day and hasn't recovered till this day. If people had firearms to defend themselves, do u beleive that would have happened? This is the reality for most of the Western world outside of the US.
Women are no physical match for men, a woman who is single and doesn't have a man in her corner whether her father or a romantic interest is extremely vulnerable. We discourage men from abusing this advantage they they have but not all men abide. So the only option a women has to defend against a male attacker is the great equaliser called a firearm. So in reality the biggest victim to banning guns is women. Which would set us back a couple hundred years in progress. Most people are reactionary and can't visualize the inevitable future outcome of a scenario. U have to experience in order to relate to it or even think it's possible. That's not a good way to operate a society.
The media and television never talk about how guns save lives and protect people because they need u I'm a perpetual state of panic to maintain ur attention so they can show u ads to sell u stuff. Don't beleive everything u see in the media and TV.
Since the beginning of time humans have be geniuses at figuring out how to kill each other, the gun is just one of many iterations. I've seen people kill with rocks and their bare hands. Rest assured the tool isn't the issue.
To just wrap this up quickly, if there's something that can give one man an advantage over another, u either give it to all or u give it to none. And being that u can't control it to that extent then don't limit it. Guns will come into America one way or the other, so make sure good people have access to them too.04 Reply- +1 y

- +1 y
@unbeatable I've always been irritated by the constitution argument because it doesn't explain why the constitution exists in the first place. It's like debating a Christian and they keep saying "Well the Bible says". OMG nothing pisses me off more because they reveal that one has done ZERO independent thought analysis and also poor reasoning ability.
1. Self defense (banning them won't stop criminals from getting them).
2. Protection against government tyranny (there's plenty of examples to look up of people holding off the government, including the Texas land grab and Sanctuary cities; even the January 6th storming of congress happened without guns and those were just a few dozen boomers).
3. Hunting.
4. Leisure.
5. Peace of mind.
6. Constitutionally protected.
7. To prevent crimes when the police can't save you.
8. To protect life (of others).
9. To protect property.
And no offense, but almost 100% of the time, the people who think the US doesn't need guns are the people who will never have to worry about protecting anything or anyone from danger. Whether that be liberal women or 140 lb Progressive males who have never had a bit of hardship a day in their lives. Almost every single time, the ones who complain about the US not needing guns have never been in a position to help or save anyone. Maybe the weakest members of society shouldn't be telling civilian police, security, and ex military they know more about protecting and saving people more than the people whose jobs it is to protect and save people. Just a thought.

"Why haven't state governments completely banned guns yet?"
Because it's my right to own a gun.
"What do people use them for?"
Personally, sport and protection. Guns are really fun, I'd urge you to at least go to a range once and fire a couple of rounds. I go to the range about 2 times a month with couple of my friends and it's a hoot. As for protection, that's mostly against animals where I live. It's the countryside here, and my first neighbor is a coyote, he's followed by bears, wild boars, big cats and other things that you really don't want in your home.
"Take guns away from policemen too."
This is a monumentally stupid take. Firstly, you would not have cops anymore. The new ones would quit case they wanna protect themselves and the old ones are dead because they couldn't protect themselves. This situation would go down very differently without armed cops."If you want to talk about the supremacy of the constitution why not mention the supremacy of the king of england."
Only a retard would think that a document that ensures your human rights are comparable to an unelected monarch.10 Reply
+1 yIf I could find a genie’s lamp and wish for every gun in the entire world to disappear I would do it. But banning guns in the USA is about as wishful thinking as that. There are more guns than people in this country.
Passing more gun control legislation just hurts the law abiding citizen plain and simple. No matter how much the government tries to intercede and melt down guns there are way too many guns in circulation. Criminals don’t give a rats ass about gun laws. They will have no problem getting armed.
Now I know we occasionally have examples of some true pos psychos out there who legally obtain guns than going on shooting sprees. Anyone who lost a loved one in those incidents would obviously have a different opinion on all of this. I can respect that sentiment given what happened.
But if you disarm law abiding citizens all you are going to see increased incidents of emboldened (usually armed) criminals burglarizing homes and cars. There were be more incidents of homicides and an overall higher death toll to innocent people.
I own two handguns. I hope I never have to use them. But if someone breaks into my house I would 1) call the police 2) yell at them to gtfo 3) put a fully loaded magazine in my sig. should he entire my room he’s going to get a hot lead as a warm welcome.
Now that day might never come. But I rather be armed and never need to use my gun vs. not being armed and having to need it in that moment.
Also last but not least I find it incredibly asinine that the same people who want gun control are also all about “defund the police.” Not saying the QA is like that but still to the people who are... were you people born missing a chromosome?00 ReplyDid you see what happened to Sweden 8 years ago?
You can’t have guns there.
It’s gov invited Criminals which they called them refugees.
Those criminals started raping girls and attacking stores and etc..
It’s GOV told its police to stand down. They start having no go zones.
And it’s people had no way to fight back.
One Muslim
Refugee recorded him raping a girl aftermath telling the public who’s goanna stop me while laughing.
2nd) Australia passed a strict gun law within the first six months the crime went up 400%.
3) Watch the movie Schindler‘s list. You’d understand what happened in the end when the gov owns all the guns.
4) criminals love gun control!
5) in Canada if a criminal shoots you, and you shoot him back. You’d get to jail 4 times longer then the criminal.
Founding fathers were absolutely geniuses. Even the order the way the Constitution was written to put number one and number two the most important ones first there’s a reason why.
6) America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, all had the same opportunities why is only America with the constitution?
Because America is the only resistance country in the world.
They fooled Canadian, Australia and New Zealand, with their charter of rights so Tyranny would be easy.
Look at current situation lots of criminals are being dumped in America if you guys have no Second Amendment you get fked 10 times faster this has been repeated in history is called Trojan horse.10 Reply
+1 y1) Self defense. Police show up after the crime has already been committed. 2) the only people who will follow the no gun laws are the ones who already follow the laws. People who commit crimes won't care about the no gun laws. That puts law abiding citizens at risk because they have no way to keep themselves and their families safe. 3) Go back and study WW2. The only reason that they were able to get the Jews on the trains and into the concentration camps is because before they took them they took their guns. If we give up our guns we are putting ourselves at risk for the same thing the Jews went through. People can't take over our country if we can defend ourselves. Take away our guns and we're sitting ducks.

So I do like the idea of having something to defend yourself. I understand guns are different but the principle remains the same.

In the meantime, we have a Constitutional RIGHT to own weapons. It doesn't limit us to owning "just" guns. Being "armed" includes (but not limited to), bats, clubs, knives, swords, guns (of ALL types), cannons, bazookas, flame throwers, as well as owning (Biden's recent stupid comment) - F-15's.

I would not object to federal tax payer funded 'free' training though, as I see any sort of cost the same as a poll tax on a right. However around here back in the day, up to early 90's kids used to bring guns to school for what was called hunter safety or gun safety classes... to learn how to clean and use them right. We kept them in our lockers, many guys had rifles mounted on the back windows of their trucks. No shootings ever, even accidental. As liberals started to move here from other states, people freaked out so schools stopped teaching safety, now I'd be more worried about people not having a free choice. - +1 y
ok honestly sure get a carry permit etc but in my opinion that should reguire regular training and courses🤔for example in your case I dont know how experienced you are with guns but imagine there was someone who barely knows not to look in the barrel and they get attacked with a knife and in the resulting panic they manage to shoot not only the assailant but also a innocent bystander so in short you wanna carry in public you should be trained proper

Point 2: Some states, or rather cities like Chicago, had tried full on gun bans and have been dunked on in court because it turns out gun bans aren't compatible with the second amendment.

+1 yI am sad that you don't understand the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution. Gun rights are necessary yet largely unpopular with people that don't realize that Amendment secures our ability to take up arms and protect our Lives, our freedoms and liberties from a tyrannical government that takes up arms against Us! Any government that readily & easily maneuvers to eliminate or restrict our Constitutional rights and civil liberties obviously has an agenda that does not include democracy with power being in the hands of We The People.
00 Reply3.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Lawbreakers and criminals will always have guns…so law abiding citizens should be able to have guns to protect themselves from those “bad guys and gals”.
Anti-weapons laws essentially punish law abiding citizens, placing the “bad guys and gals “ at an advantage.
What fucking sense does that make?00 ReplyTo protect yourself and to protect your family, and that's why you need one in every room of the house, because criminals have guns, and what you gonna do if they break in and yours are locked in the safe?
It's the same reason why every American should own their own RPG, an anti-aircraft gun in their backyard, and modern army tank to do the school run in, just in case.
American gun culture is fine, it's everyone else who's crazy.00 Reply

+1 yI feel like this, after all this time with guns it wouldn’t be smart to take them away, criminals don’t care about getting guns legally, they will just buy them off the black market, so let’s say guns are illegal and someone breaks into your house with illegal guns, you have no way to defend yourself, now don’t get me wrong I feel like some control measures should be put on guns but banning them really isn’t going to stop crime in the long run
02 Reply- +1 y

Where did you get that from me saying that people need guns because criminals will still get their hands on guns no matter if they are illegal or not

Americans are kind of idiotic in regards to guns and you made a good point about the prison system there.00 Reply

#2. Insurance, oh you mean, so if I do something wrong people can get paid? Don't worry about it, I have financial assets. I'm self-insured.
Okay, not wasting any more time on you.
What an ignorant question!! I have a gun for protection! You want it so the only ones that have guns are the criminals (no person or Police)! Are knives next?

As long as we have different mind sets/thoughts, emotions as fear/agression/greed, there will be wars. Weather it would be with guns or with fists, it will happen. Its not the gun that is evil00 Reply Self defense. Most cops are criminals. You don’t need a criminal record to be a cop thug. After the George Floyd situation any black man could get killed by a 👮♂️. I also wouldn’t want people calling me a criminal if I were killed by a 👮♀️. Your statements are way too simplistic and naive. Not sure who Usa is but in the USA, we value our God given rights, including the right to defend and protect ourselves. FYI - our cities with the strictest gun control laws have the most gun related deaths in the country... by far!

its far more common than you realize. you just aren't used to how dangerous the world is. you live in an age of decadence and safety. an age that is almost over

@007kingifrit Check the obesity rates. Your citizen army isn't even fit enough to go on a march. Let alone battle all day, 24/7.
- +1 y
that's a totally irrelevant point, that still leaves 100s of millions of non obese people
you didn't check any obesity rates at all. you're just an idiot child who heard one stat and decided to do a single factor analysis
adults do not do single factor analysis - +1 y
To answer that question…most mass shootings and gun deaths, happen at areas that don’t allow guns.
Many tourist areas and more liberal regions of the USA don’t allow guns…so law abiding citizens listen to the law and don’t take their guns there. But criminals, who don’t follow the law, DO bring their guns and gun down the law abiding & unarmed citizens.
The most pro-gun areas in the USA have very, very low gun casualties and gun deaths per capita. Why? Because when criminals know citizens are able to wield guns & said region has a strong gun culture…. that area is a riskier place to commit a crime. Why? Because the criminal will get shot and killed quickly!
+1 yI own several firearms, legally, because it is my right under the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution, it is for defending my home and my family both from criminals and also from the Government should the government become completely tyrannical and try to impose military rule over my fellow citizens
00 ReplyEither you should live in a country where no one has guns, or everyone has guns. The main issue I feel is that people should not be left out and potential violence shouldn't be one sided.

@007kingifrit sweetie the government control the army... You think your piddly little guns are useful against a tank? If the government wanted to kill you they could instantly.
- +1 y
oh dear you are so uneducated. the U. S military has NEVER won a war against a geurilla fighting enemy
you know nothing of the logistics of tank movement, tanks cannot be transported or used on the continental u. s in a time of war. there isn't enough fuel and those tanks are measured in gallons per mile... not miles per gallon
50% of all casualties in iraq for america were on fuel convoys
and that's assuming more than half of the military doesn't defect... which it would
please stop being dumb - +1 y

Mexico has done of the strictest gun laws in the world. You can go to prison for 5 years for just having a single bullet (no gun) in your possession.
But oh yes it’s such as “safe” country compared to the USA. Yeah. - +1 y
Where did you “check”. Because maybe you need to double check.
Before the BLM riots the United States was enjoying a continual drop in violent crime rates since 1994. However violent crime did shoot up last year and that had nothing to do with gun control.
London was more dangerous than New York prior to 2020. Knife stabbings is a huge problem over there.
12K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. People need guns to enable us to defend ourselves from a rogue government, like ours is becoming. It is NOT there for the federal government to follow. It's there for them to fear.

actually you just supported exactly what i said. you have lived in the age of excessive peace
