I watched the above video about the murder of a barrista. It was really sad, in particular because she offered no resistance to that bastard who killed her.
I don't blame her for not fighting, but it got me thinking, are we too docile these days?
I hate that in here Canada honest folks can't have guns for self defense. But I've always at least got my gentleman's folding knife. This kind of story reminds me why I carry it.
Could you find the courage to fight or would you just go quietly?
I don't think I'd go quietly I've had to face scary shit in the past so I'm fairly confident I'd least try. But these days I suspect I'm in a minority.
If someone takes you to a second location in a violent situation statistically you're already dead so for fuck sake fight.
It takes a lot longer for a gunshot from a pistol to kill you than people realize unless it hits a vital spot. If you have to take a hit to land three even with a shitty pocket knife or a screwdriver then do it, you just might win and pull through.
Even if you lose you'll have done it on your terms and there's going to be a body for the fucker to move and injuries that will tip off the police and medical people about what went down. You might save the next victim.
This kind of story really freaks me out as a parent, we have to teach our kids when and how to fight because they're are monsters out there in the dark.

Apparently suggesting that people defend themselves makes me a "gun nut extremist". Despite not owning a gun. Is it just me or are the far left getting dumber by the day?
Honestly, I don't know. It's easy to talk about it but it's another thing when it's happening. Each serial killer has his own type of victim and they usually don't move a muscle unless they are sure they can dominate the victim. They are vicious hunters and catch their prey in an ideal situation. That would make it a hundred times harder for the victim to react. The situation might be so bad for you and ideal for him that you'd just freeze. And it's surprising for you becsuse you never thought about this particular type of person but he thought about some kind of an archetype of you maybe for hundreds of hours. He knows your type.
Still, I like to think I will fight back because I have too many people to love and too much to lose.
Yea this is why I am a strong proponent for civilian self defense and firearms training.
You also need to get in some full contact sparing and airsoft or paintball so that the motions of combat become an automatic action otherwise you'll struggle to act in the moment.
I've trained and even I get the fear/adrenaline shakes in a real cluster fuck, but usually I can still keep it together enough to talk fight or shoot. Just don't ask me to do anything requiring fine dexterity for a while after.
Psychos though, they're usually much less bothered by the situation and function at full capacity. One more reason to train until you can defend yourself by instinct.

A rolled up magazine, a pot of coffee, a coffee cup, a pencil... if that girl knew what he was going to do to her she would have fought. Offended pansies are the left. They'll fight you over how you voted but call you a threat to society for wanting to defend yourself and your family. They'll get what they deserve in the end and it will be too late.

Haha nice. Me I used to lead a little schoolyard gang, we got into lots of fights, some of which were actually pretty serious.
After that I was a bouncer and a guard for a while, so I suppose I am braver than most people, but sometimes brave isn't enough. Still though it's better than nothing.
Fucking hate guns though, very cowardly to threaten unarmed people with. Had one pulled on me once when I was working at a bank, I was at least able to convince the guy to leave the hostage which is good because I wasn't looking forward to having to try to tackle him.
