Olivia took a Flu vaccine in 2019, and it left her paralyzed from the waist down for a month. Her doctors warned her to stay away from his Covid-19 vaccine, because the risk is just too great.
Her dream school is out, as is her $200,000 scholarship.

I don’t wanna pick A and I was ready to click B and then I read it and I don’t agree with that either. I feel for her, I do, but it is the state law and you can’t change that, even though I don’t agree with forcing everyone to take the vaccine. But then again, she’s medically exempt from the vaccine so she should get it. But she can be a carrier and spread it to others if she goes. Oohh, the more I’m typing the more I’m torn between the two options. I get why hawaii is saying no, they are separate from the rest of the states and allowing her entry could be potentially damaging for others
It's strange how Hawaii is afraid of letting someone into a university without the Covid shot, but the federal government just let in a million illegals without Covid shots.
Also, since BYU is a private university, then what's to stop Hawaii from making a law where you can't go in any private business without the vaccine? No food for you!
This is proof that communism is about to take over all over again. Anybody who wants to deny you basic rights to an education all because you refuse the shot is a communist. People wake up! I am not taking that shot and people both friends and family has had adverse symptoms they never experienced before because they took those shots. No way. People have choices. But to deny her a scholarship she was picked for is wrong. I pray she is able to attend else where even if it's online. What they are doing to kids and people is wrong. It is crime against humanity.
I agree with you 100%. You should see the stats on how many billions the communist Chinese government is pumping into American universities. Once you see that, it all makes perfect sense.
The government doesn't know the best.
They are people just like everyone else that makes mistakes and wicked assumptions/decisions.
Focus on getting vaccine to those that want's to take it instead of forcing people that doesn't.
It's gonna turn out better that way and aren't gonna trigger higher risk of civil war and contempt towards society and those that are at power in the top.
Basic psychology is.
Forcing people to do thing's never really work in the long run.
It's gonna trigger resistance since it's oppression no matter how we angle it.
Now they're going door to door in North Carolina, to make sure you take the vaccine
@Asker
Highly doubt they can force anyone at your doorstep.
High potential that some gonna use their right that they see them as intruders and shoot if not leaving property. if the law still are like that there.
Personal wouldn't I even open the door to avoid any police misuse and abuse to get their way.
Have no tolerance for people that comes to my door and tries to pull manipulative talk to get their way.
Had enough with jehovah witness in my teens and messing with their heads.
Have enough of my own mental and physical issues to get back from that probably is partwise caused by covid-19 that did only have minor effects on me when I had it.
Have noticed that I can't get it probably because I already had it.
vaccine is just a waste of resources on someone that can't get it. use that on someone that actually needs it like someone like my neighbors that have heart failure and diabetes.
Sounds a bit extreme to absolutely require a vaccine, with proper precautions, the risk of contracting covid can be minimalized to an extreme degree, and even then at her age and weight she has very little risk of being hospitalized due to it. Given that the risk of getting the vaccine and dying or being maimed by it is much greater than contracting or even being hospitalized by covid.
Good point.

This is really unfair, but what’s the be done? The school is in the state, and the state has their rules. Even a year post-covid, countries/states/etc are still trying to navigate things like this. I’m sure her story is amongst many other unfortunate results of covid, along with other people have lost a lot and been devastated greatly. Only difference for hers is that it made headlines. Anyway, I’m sure with enough protests over this there would be reconsideration of her admission, but to do so for her would require fairness to countless other individuals demanding the same response. Ultimately it would be fair to her, but it would be like breaking the floodgate. Many others would demand fairness and such (since she got it), and this just cannot be done. It’s an intricate situation that doesn’t seem as simple as “just give the girl a break”, then everyone would demand one too.
I don't think she got in the spotlight to win this case. I think what she was doing was exposing the government for something that the majority of the people don't want. This is supposed to be a government for the people and by the people, but those days are gone.
I am having same problem in New York City. My grand daughter wants t go CUNY NY but they are requiring you be vaccinated but they will not give her the right to sue the system because of possible damages done to her body by the vaccine. She is required to take the vaccine unproven and was given emergency approval for use and told she has to take and not be able to sue. If you are forced or mandated to take the vaccine for any reason you should have the right sue you have been given an untested vaccine against you will.[required mandated ]
Good point! If this vaccine is so fucking safe, why can't you sue?
I don;t know what the answer is to this. We can extrapolate that the Covid vaccine may have an adverse effect on her and give her an exemption but there is no way to be sure that she will not spread the virus if she does become infected. But we are working towards herd immunity and hopefully someday this will be a bad memory so maybe they could give her an exemption provided she get tested regularly.
The strange thing is that the university did offer exemption waivers to not take the vaccine, but somehow she didn't qualify. So I can't imagine what it would take to qualify. Maybe no one qualifies, and it's just a bunch of shit.
I hope the university gives her that big scholarship and lets her take it to any university she wants to.
Brigham Young has universities in Utah and Idaho as well as Hawaii, so it could work out.
She should sue the shit out of them. That is illegal (disabilities discrimination act). These people are just massive pieces of shit and this has gone on for way to long.
Well, I saw her on TV so she is certainly getting her revenge in the court of public opinion.
I personally think they owe her that scholarship money, and damages for having to go after a different school and for trying to endanger her health and well being. These people are insane.
I think she will get the scholarship but she'll have to go to the same University in Idaho instead of hawaii.
not surprised. Hawaii has always been a liberal dick riding state. Wonder when the people will say they've had enough of this totalitarian government. Even California governor Gruesome Newsome is trying to back off on the mask thing to save his political career and to stop from being recalled. Meanwhile, people who've been fully vaccinated continue to get sick so...
I hear that Gruesome is now even giving away free money in Cali.
i think it's funny how they're literally pushing this to become like "the mark of the beast" in the Bible, even though all these people don't believe a word of religion or in any god other than power and money. Maybe, just maybe, the Bible is right after all.
They don't believe in any of the shit they shovel.
i'm starting to think they might actually be eating babies covered in gold leaf as some sort of sacrifice. that's how bat shit crazy they seem to me these days.
That especially applies to Pelosi. She's 81 years old and she's going to lie and cheat right up until the end.
I am 100% for vaccines. I think they should be mandatory. But I would make exceptions for people with severe medical conditions that are likely to be made worse with a vaccine. In her case I would make an exception. My question though is why is BYUH not making classes available over the internet?
I'm sure they are, but it's pretty hard to do chemistry over the Internet.
considering she has a medical professional saying she should avoid it for health reasons, then this is BS
She actually has a team of medical experts that submitted documentations to get her a waiver, but it didn't fly.
I thought the US was supposed to be the land of the free.
Another total load of bollocks.
That's the old America, this is now the Chinese version of America.
Everywhere is going in the same direction. Silent and cowardly people who know this is all wrong now need to wake the fuck up.

It makes me sick to think about it.
Most of the time I'd slam someone not getting a vaccine, but this case is different. If she can't get the vaccine for medical reasons, give her a fucking break. The government is brutal.
Whatever lawyer will take up her lawsuit is going to make a killing off this. I hope her and the lawyer bleed them dry.
I'm very pro vaccinations and would encourage everyone to take the vaccine, however people like her are exceptions and should be exempt from having to take the vaccine.
Attempting to force a mandate for a medical treatment without FDA approval will get shredded in court. The tenth Amendment is not allowed to overrule the fourth. If she pushes it, they'll back down.
vaccine compensation is only a few hundred million every year not to worry about. Autism and narcolepsy is no big bother. American parents awarded compensation for autism
Supposedly you can't sue over the Covid vaccine, per the government forcing us to take it.
no the companies are exempt its the taxpayer who pays the bill. I don't know if your unable to sue over it.
Sue the state and seek damages for lost income for her entire lifetime
No. The private school can deny her entrance as its their right but the state shouldn't.
Yes, the the private school wanted her to come.
That's a clear sign that it's time to leave Hawaii
If you're talking about Olivia, I'm not sure if that's where she lives or not. But it's pretty fucked up that Hawaii jumped on the communist band wagon so easily.
Wow- that's messed up.
China is doing a good job taking down America.
Ikr? It's sad.
This is ridiculous.

Look familiar? LOL
