First off I don’t trust the CDC after this last year, 2nd violent crime has risen in Portland it rose by 800% in Chicago 108 people were shot over July 4th weekend. Not to mention in places like L. However, if you do away with welfare now mothers have to work instead of watching their children and on top of an (overblown) absentee father problem you also have an absent mother problem. However, if you have a social safety net people don't have to save their money and can instead spend it spurring economic growth. And a 2012 study indicated that the more you tax the rich, the more jobs are made (demand side economics work, supply side ones don't).

Government programs have solved a lot. For example (ironically) poverty rate is down from 20% to 15% since the war on poverty was launched. You see, an issue a lot of people in the US have grasping (because they've bought into the "America was made great by self made men who lifted themselves up by their own bootstraps" mythos) is that a bigger cause of black-white inequality wasn't the government holding black people back but offering help to white people that it didn't provide to black people (such as the Homestead and Federal Housing Act).
It dropped even faster after the war on poverty began and only stalled when Nixon launched his war on drugs.
And we know that in the US demand (versus supply) side economics works.

No, we are arguing for the disparity brought about by denying African Americans access to government programs like the Homestead and Federal Housing Act (White America was never made great by self made men who picked themselves up by their own bootstraps) and hurt by programs such as red lining.
