I vaguely remember an expression from long ago now, from early 2020, the months March to June or July. How did it go again? Oh yes - "flattening the curve". We were told that all we had to do was put up with a little inconvenience for a couple of months (at most), in order to ensure our hospitals weren't overwhelmed, and our doctors and nurses over-worked. Then it would ALL be over! Yay!
Well, we did it. Didn't we? It's now August of 2021. What's taking so long? Helloooo... ? When will we be released from home detention, when will we be able to live our lives again? Never? Is this the "new normal" now? Are these stupid questions?

In March of 2020 I was told, " Two weeks to flatten the curve." This is the longest two weeks of my life! The two weeks turned into, "We need to get the ERs ready." Then the vaccine, then they want 100% of population vaccinated, now a third shot and a new "variant". I don't see an end to these "two weeks".

Rather than doing what is logically the best way to protect ourselves and our neighbors some turned it into a backwards-ass fear-mongering don't-tread-on-me political movement to avoid masks and vaccines. The reason it’s taken so long is that people didn’t apply those protective measures. So, now that it’s getting better, we cannot just throw away all that hard work until we have an effective solution/it’s been eradicated

@Lyubyets The common cold is a collection of around 200 different viruses of different types including corona viruses. Not sure why this matters since corona viruses are a major viral family, it is equivalent to the hominids or "great ape" family humans are part of.

In other words one coronavirus is about as similar to another as a human is to an orangutan.

Also just as how we are quite efficiently pushing our fellow cousin species into extinction so too can we kill of Covid19 if we actually tried.

@Lyubyets No, I am quite serious here. The whole idea of "The strong survive" is false. The further you push a population to an extreme such as "strength" the weaker it becomes to changes in its environment.

When a species thrives it does not push for more "strength" but for more diversity, even if it might be less optimal because you never know what might be required in the future. You would do well to look up the history of the Banana and see why the "perfect" fruit is almost going extinct.

I mean.. do I have to go through every way you can destroy a car such as throwing a cider block through the window, slashing the tires, setting it on fire, cutting the fuel line, putting it into a car compactor etc? The way a virus can kill you is pretty much endless. If you want some examples then sure.

EBOLA for example makes you internally bleed to death. Rabies inflames and disrupts your brain to the point where you die. Rotavirus causes severe diarrhea and kills you mainly from dehydration.

Viruses are not weapons designed to kill you, it is just that they are compatible with your body and can often interfere with the normal functions that keeps you alive which by extension, kills you. a lot of the time the killer is even your own body such as with fevers and inflammations.

Glad to see someone waking up to what’s going on. It seems the only way to get it back is to fight for it, whatever “fight” means will depend on what the context is down the road.
