But good cancel culture. You can’t hate cancellations you disagree with. It’s gotta be equal across the board.

No, it's not cancel culture, because this isn't about simply disliking someone's random comment about someone or something.
Maybe if there was only one or two women making questionable random sexual accusations against Andrew Cuomo instead of 11 women, or if the stories against him were constantly changing, then I might agree, since he has frequently banged heads with the leftists in his own party (like Bill DeBlasio) in New York over the years. However, the investigation and report from the New York State Attorney General substantiated all 11 women's sexual accusations, including the accusations from a New York State Trooper, and accusations of witness/whistle blower intimidation. One of the accusations is also being investigated criminally by the Albany County Sheriff's Office.
Then on a totally separate issue, Cuomo also needs to answer for all of the seniors that died because he decided to cram Covid patients into nursing homes like sardines, and then tried to cover it up with more intimidation and by changing the state's statistics. This continues to go underreported, which is shameful.
Despite all of this, anyone who really believes that Cuomo will serve even one day in prison is just as crazy as anyone who believes that Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will ever go to prison.
Thanks for Most Superb. 👍
Since Me Too started, of all the high profile celebrity/politicians who have been accused of sexual misconduct, I can only count one who was proven not to have been guilty of what he was accused of. Cancel Culture is this idea that we're somehow getting rid of an innocent person without provocation on just an accusation or that we are not giving a person another chance to redeem themselves after an accusation has been proved true, but why should we in these cases of guilt?
If a boss or anyone is sexually abusing or harrassing others, why the hell would I pay this person to stick around and "hope" he or she gets better especially if s/he's been at it for months if not years or in many cases, decades. You don't need 'another chance,' you need therapy and perhaps to work from home only. I want a politician, leader, teacher, priest, entertainer who does the bare minimum in life, which is keep their hands to themselves. That is not a huge ask. These are not incompetent individuals who don't know right from wrong. They do these things because they believe they are powerful, that no one can go against them or if they do, they are blackmailed or blackballed out of jobs, and they think they will never get caught. MOST WO/MEN are good people who don't do these things, please remember that always. We should reward them as such, and rightfully prosecute and send to therapy those that cannot seem to understand what it means to be a decent human being on planet earth.
It's my understanding that he was presented with the option to resign, or fight the allegations. He chose to resign, so that makes me think they had something he knew he couldn't fight. It's not cancel culture when you face the consequences for criminal behavior.
The way I see it, he didn't resign because people were calling for it, as is common in cancel culture. He resigned because he couldn't escape the consequences of his criminal behavior. Yes, it's my opinion, which is what you asked for, people's opinions. No one said you had to agree.
His own party is threatening- I mean "advising" him behind the scenes. He doesn't care what the people say about him. He does care that his own state AG as well as the DOJ are ready to hang him in the public square, though.
He did such an atrociously bad job with COVID among other things that they need to bury him and pretend it didn't happen. Making him resign (with full benefits, by the way) lets the party put on a show of "holding their own accountable" while simultaneously letting him off the hook for far worse things.

You're confusing the standard for a criminal conviction (pleading guilty and accepting a conviction or being found guilty at trial) with a political process (impeachment) and the standard for that. You're also ignoring whether a punishment is appropriate in "cancel culture". Cuomo didn't just say something that offended someone- he sexually harassed women and apparently retaliated in at least one case against a complainant. Cuomo could have fought it in an impeachment trial, but he chose not to, and in fact offered to not run for re-election if impeachment was taken off of the table. For apparent state and federal criminal violations. And AG James is a Democrat, just like Cuomo.
AG James' Cuomo sexual harassment investigation
I don't think so. But let's humor you and assume that they have- what was the criticism for? Was it for sexual harassment and retaliation or actual crimes that are prosecutable, or were they cancelled for something they said or wrote? And yet the Virginia governor and AG are still in office despite their blackface scandals.
If you've committed actual prosecutable crimes, you can't avoid prosecution by claiming you're being cancelled, which, on the other hand, is a fair claim to make if you're fired for having made comments years ago someone doesn't like today, comments which are actually legal.
And in the case of impeachment, the standard is whether you violated laws governing your conduct in office. You aren't supposed to be impeached for saying something someone doesn't like.
There’s no way he’s resigning due to cancel culture. Look at all these politicians do to get elected and re-elected. Some of them would sell their souls if they thought it would help.
Most people act out of self interest most of the time. Do you think Cuomo is all “sure if that’s what the people want” or more like “I’m stepping down because it’s in my best interest.”
I think there’s some real serious dirt on him. Way more serious then the sexual harassment allegations. Possibly relating to the nursing home scandal. We may never know. What we can know for certain is he isn’t doing this out of the goodness of his heart and isn’t doing it because he’s altruistic. He’s also not doing it because people called on him to do it. He’s doing this because it benefits him somehow.
I wonder if we’ll hear apologies now from the left wing media who promoted him. He even got an Emmy.
That’s a cool jam. I met John Fogerty before. Also met his older brother who is his manager.
@Exterminatore Then why are you such a prick?
Prick? Take it easy Rambo, you might hurt my feelings.
Granted, there is no defense for lecherous behavior. That said Uncle Joe has been repeatedly caught on camera groping and sniffing girls and women. The fact that Cuomo was taken down while other politicians who face credible allegations are not suggests politics are involved. I suspect the Clinton machine, who has been pushing Kamala Harris as their favored candidate since before the primaries, viewed Cuomo’s presidential aspirations as a threat to Harris, who is generally disliked even by Democrat voters when they are given an alternative.
No. Don't be stupid.
He resigned as it's the only way he could avoid impeachment. So can keep his mayor residence and come back into politics in the future.
it was not "cancel culture" as the courts have seen enough evidence that they can prosecute on, if he went down that route.
I'd say its still the same things, allegations are made that have yet to be tried in a court and someone had to resign over it. Thats part of a cancel culture tactic of piling on claims to get rid of someone. Some claim this might be to allow Deblasio free reign with his tyrannical mandates.
"Good cancel culture" - There is no such thing. It's NEVER good, because even someone like this governor whom I had never even heard of before this happened, deserves the benefit of the doubt and the presumption of innocence!
I don't know. Maybe. Or maybe he just doesn't want to be in the spotlight anymore, maybe he's tired of being governor, or maybe he thinks he'll lose anyway because the SJW sharks are circling, and he knows his political career is over even if he's found innocent.
He canceled himself when he engaged in pervert behavior. He admitted to what he said and stated it was inappropriate. He wasn't canceled he resigned because he knew he was going to get impeached anyway
No not cancel culture, but it isn't justice. Now that he resigned for his sexual harassment, lets bring him up on murder charges for sending COVID+ patients into nursing homes.
He knew they had the votes to impeach him. His resignation avoided that spectacle.
Don't like the taste of your own medicine, Fredo? Oh my heart is bleeding for you.
I don’t know who is telling truth and who is not,
One thing I know from friend is that women make false claim , specially in court with sexual claim to win.
how I know , my female friend did same and won in divorce.
This is not"cancel culture" this is an asshole thug getting booted from office.
@OddBeMe
So mob demands are always right? Just because the mob demands cancelation doesn’t mean whoever they want canceled actually did something bad. You haven’t noticed with the left how there is no room for dissent. Anyone who disagrees with anything the left promotes is promptly labeled a homophobe, islamaphobe, nativist, xenophobe, racist, sexist, or some other cute term with a twisted meaning from what the actual word means and then are attempted to be shamed into submission. If that doesn’t work then they get canceled. So it’s agree or else.
They canceled JK Rowling (author of Harry Potter) for voicing her opinion that transgender rights will possibly negatively effect women’s rights. Was she right? Yeah, cause now women have to compete against trannies in most sports and beauty pageants in several places.
Abraham Lincoln was canceled by San Francisco public schools, among other presidents for ties to racism and Lincoln freed the slaves!
So just because they try canceling people doesn’t always mean they’re right.
@Exterminatore so what are we to do when celebrities say deplorable things? is it not the free market?
Oddbeme
Well first of all I’d have to say what is considered deplorable? That’s part of the problem. Leftists want to usher in a post Christian, post traditional society along with a socialist/communist economic system. With those concepts have come new definitions of right and wrong. I do not endorse any of the new concepts of what’s considered socially acceptable or what is right and wrong. Most conservatives don’t either and many in the middle are not in favor of woke politics. Additionally the left has adjusted the definition of many words to fit their agenda. Like tolerance…as it pertains to gays. No one was burning gays at the steak. Since at least the 80’s homosexuality maybe didn’t have broad approval but they sure weren’t impressed. That’s called tolerance and it’s been that way my entire lifetime. Now tolerance means: if you are against homosexuality even mildly for any reason and if you don’t fully embrace it or celebrate it…you’re intolerant. Another word is immigration as in ILLEGAL immigration. We just dropped the word illegal to make it sound as if these people have legitimately none here and now many leftists refer to it simply as immigration. For example they may ask: “what’s your stance on immigration.” Sounds much more acceptable when it’s phrased like that. Gender is another word the left has changed. Gender has always meant male or female. Leftists try to say it means the degree of masculinity or feminity a person has in their constitution. That’s not even the meaning of the word let alone a legit concept.
That’s the whole problem. What the left considers deplorable is not to most people. You can’t go changing societal structures and norms over night then shame people who have lived their lives under different rules. You can’t change definitions of words to fit your purpose.
So what we have with cancel culture is mob justice. It’s bullying everyone into accepting their way of thinking or not voicing their opinion.
Politicians, celebrities and public figures of all types are certainly subject to public option and criticism.
However the very question you just asked displays perfectly the mind control and cognitive distortions present in leftist ideology.
You just asked: What do we do when celebrities say deplorable things?” As if you don’t have an idea what to do. As if destroying a person who has a different idea than yours should be treated differently. So what do you do? You do what I’m doing right now with you. You state your case and criticize where needed. What you don’t do it throw a fit like a spoiled teen in need of an ass whipping and attempt to destroy the persons life and career over minor differences of opinion. So, for example if a celebrity mentioned they were devoutly Catholic and therefore cannot endorse homosexuality what you don’t do is try to have the person blacklisted and you don’t try to slander them and destroy their career just because they said something you don’t agree with. That’s what cancel culture is. Narcissistic bullying demanding compliance. Like 65% or better of people are sick of it by the way.
@Exterminatore if the fans make enough of a stink for celebs publishers are studios to question their relationship, that’s the free market.
Neither labels are BS and that’s not the free market that’s Nazism.
@Exterminatore actually you want freedom from consequences for people you agree with. That’s fascism.
@OddBeMe
No. I don’t want freedom from consequences. What I want is first for us all to return to sanity. Let’s go back to actual right and wrong.
Like rioting the entire summer and burning down half the country would be wrong, not defined as making gains for racial injustice. Swiping Nikes to get justice for Freddie Gray would be called stealing not Social Justice. Declaring several square blocks of Seattle an Autonomous Zone and a new nation would be called an insurrection not a “peaceful protest.” Intentionally allowing as many illegal immigrants into the country while refusing to uphold laws on the books would be called being a traitor because it’s putting the interests of foreign nationals ahead of your citizens. Saying things like: “there tends to be more crime in black communities” wouldn’t be called racism but rather the truth…. because it is. Having trannies read stories to kids would be called teaching degeneracy not education. I would like everyone in the country to return to the correct standards of right and wrong.
Acting like spoiled children trying to destroy the lives of people because they dared disagree with some Marxist tenant is not ok. Beating people up for wearing a MAGA hat is not ok. Canceling someone (Pop star Sia) for casting someone in a movie to play someone with autism instead of casting someone with actual autism is not some grave offense. Canceling Lea Michelle for displaying microagressions is ignorant. Canceling Ellen Degeneres for having a toxic workplace culture is also silly. How would any of the cancelers know what kind of work place she had? Did they all work for Ellen? Oh I get it, someone said it was so and that must surely be the truth. There isn’t 2 sides to every pancake after all.
@OddBeMe. How about the kids cartoon "Paw Patrol" because one of the fictional dogs was a "police" dog? Look what it took to FINALLY "cancel" that grade A son-of-a-bitch Cuomo? The left moves to cancel anything other don't like buy it takes (almost literally) an act of Congress for them to act on one of their own.
@Exterminatore Amen brother. Fuck the left and their "cancel culture". Of course the real pussies are the people who act on the lefts demands to "cancel".
@Exterminatore You guys keep forgetting the free market. If Ellen's audience dries up you want the Govt to fund her show?
@OddBeMe
I don’t know why you keep bringing up the free market. Ellen isn’t an economist and a bunch of punks trying to destroy her career has nothing to do with economics. Free market is an economics term. Also how would this relate to a free market when the media and big tech are in the pockets of leftists and do obey the mob? It’s like: “oh a bunch of little whiny bitches demand Gina Carano be canceled because she said something they found deplorable.. take away her contract.” There nothing that relates to a free market when the media becomes the enforcement arm for a bunch of bullies.
@krackin
That’s right brother. This guy is talking about free markets…. when the media and big tech are in the pockets of leftists attempting to control information, spread propaganda, and alter people’s perceptions. That’s not free it’s called gaslighting. If that’s free then Joseph Goebbles is and the Brown Shirts are freedom fighters.
@Exterminatore the free market is a market free from govt control. Its always funny when you right wingers want big govt for your personal issues but freedom to everything else like guns.
And Ellen’s show dried up because her studio thought her an unviable investment. You want big govt to force them to fund her show?
It would be one thing if he just flirted, but he became really weird with his staff. And the Cuomo's as a family are jerks.
The way it happened, yes.
He should have resigned 50 times already over other shit, and the fact that this is the breaking point still makes it very much cancel culture.
Being called out for sexual harassment and mishandling Covid Is not being a victim of cancel culture.
Not a shred of real evidence, yet off with his head.
@OddBeMe I thought about it and I think teaching CCR and CRT should be taught in all schools.
1. Because everyone should believe in and respect struggles and equality in other's.
2. CCR and equal treatment rocks.
3. What person hasn't been down on the corner or the street at some point, has not felt trouble on the way, and has not saw a bad moon on the rising at some point.
So I'm willing
No--it's a dude deciding to get out before he's found guilty.
Gives a whole new meaning to the term Tricky Dick!
No. He's a douche and needed to go.
That's called he knows something we dont
Exactly.
He cancelled himself.
Its a golden parachute.
You did it, and you'll do it more.
thank you!
@anylolone No, just racist.
No, all, everything, and you know it.
And the best thing of it all, I love it.
I kinda really love it. Of course, it "could" be better, but I understand the limitations of reality.
Unfortunately, the need to suffer you to learn.
So, like in SA, they gonna get their guns. Knowing full well that I'd love to save them from such trauma, but if I take their charge they become cuomo and it's the same issue for the next generation.
You mean your enemy?
Yes, he won, as he should.
Funny thing is that, all victory is the world means nothing if you don't properly guard it, which is how his children keep making him twist in agony at his grave.
But like mandela, I understand why he couldn't have seen further.
Luckily I can. I'm am standing at the shoulders of giants, after all.
Them included.
I can see how alchemy is bullshit, and how, no matter what, you can pick your allies.
The prophet martin taught me such.
So I'll judge his children for the content on their character, as he willed, and find them lacking, specially after being begotten by such a giant.
Well, one of the biggest problems with capitalism is the offspring of the successful.
Yes, depending on the circumstances, yes, a lot.
"Do you think MLK would have loved children shooting thugs?" Yes, of course he would have preferred the adults to do it.
At his time, violent thugs getting shot were common place and he had no issues with it.
As MLK said, jeasus said to turn the other cheak but you have only two cheeks.
It's stupid, he should have had his day in court.
I like some of the 70% argue this question
yeah
