Democrats are more corrupt, but the Republicans are too, as seen by their cooperation on lots of things and the Republicans' lack of interest in actually keeping the Democrats from violating people's rights and doing a lot of dumb stuff.
As a independent who leans conservative, I find they are both corrupt... Republicans are less though and not very good at getting away with it. Democrats are professionals at it, and super good at getting away and covering their tracks.
It's not so much that "Dems bad", "Republicans goooood". It's that Progressivism is fundamentally wrong and leads to corruption.
Both Republicans and Democrats have progressives. Progressives on both sides are corrupt. The difference is that the Democrats are pretty much all Progressive now and it's a matter of to what degree of Progressive.
While the Republican Progressives are also corrupt but they have a fuck ton of Libertarian Republicans (Conservatives) who aren't corrupt. Then there's the Libertarian purists that broke off to form their own party that no one takes seriously.
Progressives on Right and Left believe in big government. They just disagree on where to point the government gun. George Bush bailed out the banks and fucked us.
Obama forced loans to be allowed to people who couldn't pay them and that fucked us. What do they have in common? Progressive policy.
Power is scary because it can be abused. That's why you don't make people too powerful. People are fallible and this country has only lasted as long as it has because the founders recognized that and setup a system that made it fuckin hard for a corrupt person to get in and do damage.
I'd say democrats but Republicans definitely are not innocent. Lately though the republican party is going through something of a populist uprising and is getting changed from the lower ranks going up. The Democrats by contrast are still just corrupt politicians using thier positions to make themselves more wealthy. But kinda like the republican party you are starting to see something of a populist uprising starting. However on the democrats side that populist uprising supports communism sooooo yeah fuck that.
Democrats no contest. They are so far and beyond corrupt I cannot understand how any one would say otherwise. Republicans, while having a lot of corruption in their ranks don't even come close whether that is because they are less corrupt or are so pitifully weak, spineless, pathetic cowards that they couldn't commit to what they want to do, I cannot say.
There's a lot of corrupt democrats, but they can't hold a candle to the corruption in the republican party.
We need better ways of preventing corporate interests from corrupting politicians. It's always going to be a huge problem as long as getting elected relies on your election campaign being funded by huge corporations.
I wouldn't say liberalism is the problem. Authoritarianism is the problem. Classical liberalism calls for respecting individualism and personal choice and responsibility while also looking out for your fellow men.
Doesn't matter what type of liberalism is employed, whether classical, social democracy or neoliberalism, they all lead to the same thing. It's a dog-eat-dog world, businesses are in competition and seek to crush other businesses to make more money, and once a business grows large enough, it starts entering in competition with the government; with regulations, laws, buying off officials, lobbyism, corruption, it's the inevitable evolution of liberalism. When I say liberalism, I'm not speaking against its philosophy of individualism, but rather the economical aspect of it.
There is truth in corruption evolving as result of a lack of regulation, but economic liberalism with the correct laws and regulation still beats fascism and communism where the economic system is essentially centralized by some totalitarian rule. But hell, I don't think the democrats want capitalism in our country anymore; they want fascism, aka the lucrative merger of corporation and state. All the while republicans cry about the matter but do nothing to stop them.
Currently? Without a doubt, Democrats. They stole an election and conspired with big tech to oust their political opponent, Trump. They are scummy to the core.
I'd say the democrats are worse as of now because they are ones supporting segregation and race-based policies. Republicans are powerless spineless fools that blow hot air, bring nothing to the table, and don't stop the democrats.
Whoever's in power... that's usually who the more corrupt are. That's one reason I really support term limits. No one should be "in power" for decades. Corruption is too easily spread.
@Dragonpurple: What that graph shows is what everyone in the DC area knows- the DOJ is full of leftists that want to criminalize their political opponents. It's interesting that the spying abuses in the Obama Administration didn't get prosecuted- I wonder why...
But the FBI covers up Democrat illegal activity. The media also makes excuses for them. Take Biden's baby boy have sex with minor girls. And Biden sr touching little girls breasts. Never got charged. Biden selling legislation is a serious crime, never charged.
Yeah, now look up those "crimes" and you realize. . . . none of them where crimes. I mean one guy was arrested because he "lied under oath" because he made a statement that was inaccurate about something that happened years ago. Another was literally black mailed and had his child threatened by the FBI by their own admission. Trump was impeached for. . . no reason as he is the only president in history to be impeached without a single crime being cited. Leftist claiming that the right is corrupt is laughable, because all they do is paint conservatives with the sins of the left (they have been sucesfully doing that for over a hundred years now and I doubt it will stop now).
@Avicenna Lets not forget the whole email scandal that Clinton had where she openly admitted to destroying evidence which itself is like a twenty year sentence. Or the denying conservative organizations non profit status when they where nonprofits which was illegal and nothing was done about it. Imagine the dirt turned up if republicans had done everything in their power to destroy his life like the democrats did to Trump, up to and including admitting to framing and blackmailing people to hurt them. Obama would have ended up in prison.
I'm independent there are decent people on both sides, but the problem is, you can't see them for the battle raging in this country. In the last election, my thought was, which lying, cheating, thieving , two faced back stabbing, mother or father fucking son or bitch of a bitch gets elected next !!!
I don't like the questions that cause even more political polarization. But if I were to answer it honestly, I think it's unknowable. I believe this whole two-party system has got too comfortable for both parties and they're increasingly becoming bolder and bolder.

Every politician, especially in the U. S. A, is corrupt. I know this question was quantifying, but I choose not to reply to that because it's just divisive.
The media has a narrative to call out Republicans and ignore everything bad the Democrats do. For instance, they call the January 6th riots an "insurrection", but they call the BLM riots a "mostly peaceful protest".
No, both were caused by violent protestors. Someone else's death or someone's speech is not at fault for riots. The rioters are the only ones at fault. My issue is that certain rioters are given special treatment because of their political beliefs. That is wrong. All violence should be prosecuted.
