In what ways are politicians corrupt?

I keep hearing this phrase. What do they do that makes them dirty and/or corrupt?

in order to get elected must have a LOT of $. that usually comes from a few big donors whom want to influence said politician. it doesn't take much to get someone to fall this way or that off the knife edge of decisions... after they receive funding, do some dinners, fly on a private plane, etc.. Access to ones ear is a powerful thing.

This why they charge $25,000 plus dinners! can you imagine. the process is corrupt... by $ throw person in... they are quickly consumed by the quick sand in spite of any ethics established before.

They take money from large corporations and foreign counties in exchange of favorable treatment by the government. Joe Biden's family has raked in millions from foreign countries. Ukraine especially. His son and a position at a Ukraine energy company despite knowing nothing about energy and nothing about Ukraine, His salary was $83,000/month. Which if my math is correct $996,000 a year. Fast forward a couple of years and the US is sending billions to Ukraine and supplying weapons in its war with Russia.

Insider trading. Pretty easy to fix just have the elected forbidden to trade stocks directly or even work anywhere. Then set up a blind trust pension.
