What do you think of a society in which aliens eat humans?

In The Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man", an alien species called the Kanamits insist that they have come to Earth to make peace with humans but instead have evil motives. How would you react if you found out that an alien species came to Earth only to consume humans?

In fairness there are lots of human beings; if the aliens came from a small planet with a world population of 50 million we could be a very reliable source of nutrients that could last a long time.

It’s probably the only thing that would unite the majority of the world. I say majority as they would still be those wanting to make money out of others and sell them to Aliens in their restaurants etc.

pre Covid we had a very drunk chat among my social group about the likes of vampires.

In the UK someone is reported missing every 90 seconds (incident)

it works out circa 170,00 people missing each year (actual).

this is reckoned to be vastly under reported with around 5,500 never found.

found is location confirmed alive or dead.

What if Vampires did exist, walked among us and these missing people were simply food….

we were drunk and googling stats at 2am globally lol, it’s still a shit load of people that often are never found.

I think they have exotic tastes.

I figure that there are two most plausible routes for aliens to go. Route A would be that they keep getting more and more benevolent through understanding their own minds better, and getting better and better sociological and psychological knowledge, and they'll either treasure the rarity that is life, or want to assist it for benevolent reasons due to an endless craving for purpose which leads them to wander the universe spreading joy and assistance.

Route B would be they get perpetually more bored over time after they've solved all their problems and develop perpetually more perverse and odd forms of entertainment to sate that boredom, such as eating sentient tool-using social organisms like humans who have a firm understanding of death so that we can fear it, and that fear making the aliens' dining experience more pleasurable.

Highly doubtful aliens would come here with impunity. Every creature born on Earth is born OF this Earth, with all the good germs, bad germs, antibodies, and radiation layering to survive and flourish here. Aliens coming here would be wracked with illness immediately and likely wouldn’t survive. Think of the Native Americans when the White man showed up, the Native Americans were wiped out by smallpox, kind of a bad comparison, but think of the Native Americans as aliens and the whites as the human race.

That is no different than humans eating sheep. Regardless, it was unrealistic as it is impossible to travel between the stars with inhabitable planets in a human's lifetime at least before the human aged and too tough to eat.
