There's a lot of factors.
Historically, this has long been the case due to higher infant mortality, as well as the need for more hands to work the farms and such. The merchant-class
In a modern sense, most "middle-class families" and higher involve both parents working on a career, so they start their families later in life and don't have as many kids as a result. This was my own situation growing up, too. There's also an increasingly large number of couples who do not have kids at all, and couples who don't formally get married and pretend to be "single mothers" in order to take advantage of welfare programs. Both of these skew the data quite a bit. When you look at a household where one parent works as a fairly high earner with a stay-at-home wife, they tend to have larger 3-5 kid families despite being "wealthy and educated." The one exception to this I've seen are usually immigrant families from Asia who often have only 1-2 kids.
Since we are talking about education, let's also address what that even means: are you omitting people who go to trade schools instead of getting a four-year degree? That's an odd way to see it, because according to both data and multiple now-retired tradesmen I know, they're actually largely doing better than most. In fact, one works for me now as a part-time employee solely because he's bored at home; he is worth a few million and doesn't actually need to work another day in his life if he didn't want to. He still only had three kids spread out across three divorces too.
Another pretty important data point is that the general birth rate in the US has tanked pretty hard in the last few years... We are far below replacement level, but this is despite the fact that the so-called "wealth gap" has expanded rapidly, and the population is increasing solely due to immigration.
A major problem I've noticed in the USA is that people really, really, really suck at budgeting priorities. It's almost a tired joke at this point, but people blow absurd amounts of money on dumb stuff. There's a lot of people who could feasibly support larger families without any kind of assistance if they were more conscious about their time and money.

So some of the most brilliant minds in human minds didn't come from the best backgrounds. The idea that if a family who does not live up to your standards is honestly illogical and if applied to human history it would cause irreparable damage. It could not only mean many past generations would have never exited. Heck as a species we might be a small group of hunter/gathers living in cages. Oh and well educated people do judge people as individuals. Because judging people as groups does more harm then good. Human history has made this very, very clear and well educated people do learn from history.

Oof such misinformation. It isn't that they aren't educated to know kids require food. Also, what the hell does feminism have to do with this?
Let's make this super simple for you. In some cases the easiest way to bring in extra money for some people is by having a kid thanks to government assistance. A kid should not be a paycheck and yet here we are. Another large part of this is, when you don't have a lot of money and can't go out all the time for entertainment you find other ways to pass the time.
What is something a lot of us enjoy and doesn't cost much to do?
Sex.
Sure, the after costs money, but the before is pretty easy to do and entertaining.
They have a lot of kids because the more kids they have, the more the government gives you more money (welfare), thousands of dollars in tax credits and the list goes non. They do it for the benefits! Period!! 😲

Well educated people tend to have good jobs which translates to more wealth.
The more wealth you have, the more you desire to keep it to yourself and enjoy it.
Thridy, people with a lot of wealth like to think they are going to live very long lives and think ahead with finances and how they are going manage it long term.
Lastly, poor people tend to be very short sighted and live for moment type of philosophy as they don't have much resources to sit around and ponder about the future long term.I think a lot of those individuals had their first kid in high school, while they were kids themselves.
Then it kind of went from there.
Happened to my sister and a lot of my high school friends. They all have middle class families and parents, but them themselves end up poor.Opportunity cost- a woman who earns more money has a greater incentive to avoid pregnancy. Furthermore, if you have a large number of kids, you can receive SNAP, the EITC, ATC, WIC, and other benefits for them, plus one day one of them might be successful enough to help support you in your old age. It's actually not a crazy strategy.
Because the well educated live lives of quality, thus, children cost more to them, so they can't have as many. They may also subscribe to quality chuldren-raising, not quantity children-raising, meaning you focus all of your attention onto a few children, rather than spreading yourself too thin among many. There are many other possible reasons, as well. One of which is the incentive for poor people on welfare to procreate to be rewarded with more money for doing so.
I think it’s because hook up culture is more popular in poor areas because sex is a possible way of making money / also is a stress relief
In many states the more kids you have , the more welfare you can collect. It is called reverse Darwinism.
uneducated people just have more time to have kids. They get started sooner and reach their point of stability sooner.
Lack to access to birth control and affordable abortions
To be fair, the well educated can see the hapless cycle and say no.
The poor wander in blindly or perhaps pushed by religions who do the thinking for themLack of awareness about contraceptives and population explosion and nuclear family. Plus educated ones can't afford to get pregnant all the time
BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZES THEM FOR HAVING KIDS AND TAXES ANYONE WHO’S NOT POOR TO PAY FOR IT

Please, do not procreate at all.
More free time to make poor decisions
Get more from welfare so they don't have to work.
Because they can?
