Why is the crime rate so high in the Americas?

And by the Americas, I mean the entire Western hemisphere.

I noticed a lot of crime, when it happens, usually it's St. Louis of the United States of America, Tijuana of Mexico, Caracas of Venezuela, Vitoria de Conquista of Brazil, Kingston of Jamaica, San Pedro Sula of Honduras, Cali of Colombia, Guatemala City of Guatemala, etc.

I noticed they all had one thing in common: they're all in the Americas. North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean. The Americas.

What is it about the Americas that make people want to commit crime? Is it the colonial legacy that caused poverty and corruption? England owned the USA, Jamaica and others. Spain owned Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras and others. And Portugal owned Brazil.

What is it that makes the Americas a cesspool?

Fairly complex and loaded question in my opinion. I think it has to do with the totality of what makes these countries unique from the rest of the world, meaning, their history, law enforcement, economics, society, justice systems, etc. Also, not all countries label or measure crimes in the same way or similarly for that matter. It can be hard to pinpoint why a country has more crime than another and more of a specific crime than another, when both do not measure or label crimes in a similar or comparable manner. One can look at the history of these countries, specifically pertaining to why people from all over the world would travel to live in these countries. A lot of crime comes from gangs and and many gangs have their origins in immigrant groups that came in the Americas, specifically the US, many years ago. There are a lot of things to talk about and consider when it comes to why crime is so high in the Americas.

What about Mexico, Honduras or Guatemala? There's not a lot of immigrants there, why are they so violent? Same for Jamaica, Haiti or the Bahamas? Or Brazil, Colombia or Peru?

Well yea honestly it was colonialism that destroyed the indigenous population. Destroying their way of life al because of god. And when they couldn't handle them anymore they just left them all to their own devices. A lot of those countries have poor government leaders or no government at all. Maybe the past year, or so but, from what I understand, it mostly happens in other countries. We don't normally rule by the gun, like we did 150 years ago, although, because of Biden blundrer of allowing anyone into the country, I'm hearing Texans can't even walk out of their houses anymore without having a gun strapped to their leg!! So, it IS like the old west again, down there. And we've cracked down on drugs a LOT since the late `70's. Gang violence was rampant back in the `50's and again in the late `80's & early `90's but, I don't know that there's still much of it going on, anymore. Most of the arsons I hear about are when some idiot ignites a forest fire out of stupidity in California and I don't know that rape is as rampant now as it was in the `70's.
