Ah, see the thing is, our society always had issues. They never stopped, but more so evolved.

One thing that's really interesting though is that most issues in our society are connected (depression and insecurity - social media - promoting unrealistic beauty standards and expectations - mainly those of the western world (more specifically, I'd say the United States) - globalization and the access to internet - human thirst for power and world domination).

I don't think it's even possible to pinpoint one specific thing that is an issue and that can be solved without taking care of other things first. But the biggest issue is probably that the GLOBAL issues indirectly affect normal people and their daily lives which sucks and unfortunately, there will never be a society without any problems because the problems we have today will evolve into something more.

At this point, I just think the issue is us, the human race. We should just restart the entire thing.

I hope I got my point across, this is kind of messy lol. Interesting question though.

@allaboutyou2 humans evolving into a new species? I'm not really sure. Like, I don't think there is an ethical way to do so. The first thing that comes to my mind is erasing everyone's memories and starting over, but that's not really okay, nor practical, nor realistic. So, maybe some day if we were to get blown up like the dinosaurs, a human species smarter than us could start over. That's what I'm thinking.

@allaboutyou2 I don't think we're not smart. Quite frankly, I believe that we're very intelligent and have the ability to create so many things to fix so many issues, but we don't because they won't benefit big corporations or world leaders, cause we are greedy. By more intelligent species, I meant humans which won't care about money and be hungry for power, who won't care if someone is black or white or pink, purple, whatever color there is or how someone looks like, but who will focus more on making the world they live in a better place for everyone. It does sound very much like a utopia, because it is, which again is why I don't think our society and humans as they are now are not capable of such thing.

I try to make the world a better place every day, so do many other people, I think the solution is to change our leaders, if we replaced them with people who actually cared for the people they are supposed to serve more than power and money, we could have a better world.

@allaboutyou2 I support that, but sadly, not everyone is like you and a lot of people just don't give a damn. Replacing world leaders is a good choice, but you'll always have opposition and radical politicians on the other side that may stop the society from progressing towards a better future and such.

Everyone is so focused on their individualism and “proving” something to the world that they’re valuable when in reality we all are valuable in our own ways but mostly in how we are compassionate and connected together. Yet, we all run on ego and have been bred into a society that congratulates and motivates you to “do better” for some made up system that is supposed to define our worth, and we’re stuck in a reward system that will never be fulfilling. And then, don’t get me started on social media. That all just reinforces the idea of the individual and how “important” we should all try to be. So everyone is constantly trying to show off how cool or talented or financially well off they are or pretty, etc and what’s sad is that 1) no body really cares/the only one who is so focused on you is you and 2) everyone has just become like everyone else and it’s all so robotic and programmed... I don’t think people know how to act like humans anymore. We just are told how to think and react and feel based off of something we read or watched online or tv. It’s all so dumb. And relationships are suffering because everyone is so focused on themselves. I hate it all.

Oh and also all those “mental illnesses” and “trauma” younger generations are claiming to have. What’s the disease is individualism and believing that going through pain is what makes us unique and valuable because it brings us attention. And we’ve been shown through media that when we know someone has been through something difficult we put them up on a pedestal for overcoming it. So now we just have a bunch of people exaggerating any negative thing in their life and making into some sort of hero story that they’ve overcome yet now they have so much “mental trauma.” I know so many people who base their entire personalities off their “mental illnesses” that really don’t even exist. They just want attention and to feel special and rewarded by others for being strong having been through “so much.” Being edgy and emo makes you unique because happiness means you’ve had it easy and it’s almost become scary to just be happy for these people because then where’s the attention? The validation? The drama? What’s left of THEIR life?

Communists are using Active Measures to literally destroy America, and by extension, the rest of the West, through the means of censorship, social justice bigotry, corporate control over the government, and other Divide and Conquer methods, and the stupidest, most retarded everyday people in society are happily helping them do it. The ones who'll suffer the most are Third Worlders when China conquers them, the few non-retarded Millennials out there like myself, and the Gen Z'ers who can see how messed up the world they're growing up in, is. All because of evil Communist scum and the people too stupid to deserve voting rights or the ability to reproduce.

Too many diverging opinions on how people should lead their lives. Too many different values and religions always clashing with one another as well as the non religious going after them. Mostly has to do with gov sanctioned divisive operations if you ask me. They never know and us to get along. If we did there would be no is vs them mentality and they'd quickly lose relevancy. Internet is great for a lot of things but also a double edged sword. Our biology and our technology are completely out of sync and we are advanci too fast for our species to catch a breath. Social media is basically cancer for the most part.

They [Young People] have exalted notions, because they have not been humbled by life or learned its necessary limitations; moreover, their hopeful disposition makes them think themselves equal to great things -- and that means having exalted notions. They would always rather do noble deeds than useful ones: Their lives are regulated more by moral feeling than by reasoning -- all their mistakes are in the direction of doing things excessively and vehemently. They overdo everything -- they love too much, hate too much, and the same with everything else.

Social media are partly to blame. Everyone, even the most uneducated people can post something and as always there are people who follow. Soon a stupid/toxic challenge, trend or ideology spreads around like a wildfire. And this is just 1 thing.
There are many other problems in western society: feminism for example, there is a female privilege (they can babytrap men, they can take away everything from a guy after divorce, their crime punishments are way tamer compared to men's etc.) The toxic mentality of the self entiteled women who deserves a throne, a perfect prince charming etc.
Also the (American) mentality that they are the center of earth, they are the vips and not care about anything but themselfes and say f*** climate change.
    There are many more points...

Whats wrong with modern society. Simple you spoiled children haven't had to face any hardships and so you make up shit that you think is bad. If the worst thing you have to face in life is someone saying mean words to you and having to deal with a restaurantnot offering a glutenfree option. You need to be dropped into the woods for a few days with nothing but a knife so you can experience the joy of finding off bears and wolves whilst barley scrapping together enough calories to survive. Like you ancestors had to.
Suddenly modern society dosent seem that bad does it

A lot honestly. I dont know how to like say it all but just things like racism, judging others for their looks, etc, etc, just growing far apart instead of coming together, spreading out love. also there's this one ariana grande lyric saying "If we give a little love, maybe we can change the world" and its so right in so many ways honestly.

civilizations go in 3 phases. barbarism, stability, decadence.

barbarism: where we commit genocide to establish the norms
stability: we live off the fruits of our violence but the violence is present in our minds. so our institutions remain stable because we remember when they were not.
decadence: we are so far removed from the violence that we have forgotten the consequences of letting things fall apart. so we begin to act irrationally and avoid all short term negativity even if it makes things bad in the long term because we can't see long term

In a lot of ways it's the same issue that it's always been. People forgetting a pendulum swings both ways. We could find some middle ground where the pendulum could come to rest. But now we have turned a pendulum to a pendulum saw. One side is doing their best push it into the other side. Only for that pendulum to be pushed back at them. In the end it's a seemingly endless fight and both sides are deeply cut open.

Same problems new looks. Humans have never worked right in any society funny thought.
Literal social creatures meant to be social have never worked socially together correctly.

Creatures also don't work well socially together so like how do we expect humans to do so? You can put your laws and morals there but we are all just creatures.
The very existence of bactira the thing we are from, causes fundamental problems among creatures that live.

The question should be what is not wrong with it, its like we get our freedoms but now if you have a unpopular belief, idea or talk out of turn you won't get in trouble with the government but the people will sure as heck make sure your fired and never work again.

They enjoy making you homeless or the death penalty. Were losing our freedoms and without any government regulation causing it, just plain social media and public pressure.

My hand cramps up at the thought of the list- here are a few- - - - - - - -

It's become too "modern" for its own good.
(scientific) progress exceeds our mentality to cope with it in humane/sane/responsible ways.
Fostering lack of personal responsibility, gov't handouts which = govt control.
Do nothings feeding off the work of others and expecting even more!
    Progressive media control.
    One world order = globalism.

Good question young buck. At least in America.

    #1: No fear of God.

#2: Promotes immortality such as abortion, homosexuality and whoring.

#3: Politically very unbalanced and divided.

#4: Corporate greed. Low class workers not getting paid enough to live with dignity.

#5: Serious lack of common sense especially among the youth.

All of those other people you're talking about are being pretentious - they are trying to project an imagine that they think other people will like. We need a great reset back to stone tools. Globalism is a cancer that can only be stopped by an asteroid or a super volcano.

@allaboutyou2 that was true in the past, the times have changed. There’s nothing free about the fact that today Americans are the most overworked developed nation in the world.

The U. S. is the ONLY country in the Americas without a national paid parental leave benefit. The average is over 12 weeks of paid leave anywhere other than Europe and over 20 weeks in Europe.

At least 134 countries have laws setting the maximum length of the work week; the U. S. does not

Americans work 137 more hours per year than Japanese workers, 260 more hours per year than British workers, and 499 more hours per year than French workers

What is free about that exactly?

We are free to decide whom we work for, the while concept of capitalism is if we aren't happy with our employers conditions we are free to leave and work for another employer whose conditions we approve of. Absolute freedom.

Technically no, if we don’t like the conditions at your workplace than the only other option is to be homeless. Getting a new job is not that simple, it’s also not a viable option for most people.

Capitalism also isn’t the only economic system that allows that so it’s not like it’s unique.

Capitalism offers people the illusion of choice, the illusion of freedom.

There is no federal laws requiring paid sick days in the United States.

Using data by the U. S. BLS, the average productivity per American worker has increased 400% since 1950. One way to look at that is that it should only take one-quarter the work hours, or 11 hours per week, to afford the same standard of living as a worker in 1950 (or our standard of living should be 4 times higher). Is that the case? Nope. Someone is profiting, it’s just not the average American worker. This isn’t freedom

I have had the freedom to change jobs to improve my situation multiple times. Being dictated to by a government is far from freedom. The government is to blame for spending our tax dollars on special interest groups that give the politicians a kick back. There is nothing wrong with capitalism, the problem comes when only certain people in power benefit from capitalism. The system is being manipulated by corrupt politicians.

nothing you just named is a problem with capitalism. you just want paid family leave. just say that

also; don't compare america to other countries. those countries will fall apart soon enough BECAUSE of their lavish social spending

    • doopayo

@007kingifrit countries in Europe that have implemented paid family leave are doing Way better than America. That’s an empirical fact

While America spends about 11 percent of its national income on social programs, France spends almost double that amount ; Nordic countries spend even more. Relative to GDP, Europeans spend more than five times what Americans do on unemployment insurance and other labor market programs. Not only do Europeans spend more on social programs, they also regulate more in attempt more or less successful to protect workers against business interests.

The differences between the US and Europe and in particular those concerning social protection and welfare is their beliefs. 60 percent of Americans believe that the poor are lazy ; where as only 26 percent of Europeans share that view.

Capitalism is failing, it worked in the past but it’s not working today. That much should be obvious to you if you’re working class in today’s world.

This is the result of the “innovation and efficiency” capitalism gives us

      thegrocerystoreguy.com/.../

43 billion lbs of food, thrown away by grocery stores.

      www.businessinsider.com/fast-fashion-environmental-impact-pollution-emissions-waste-water-2019-10

The fast fashion industry is responsible for 10% of our carbon emissions,

85% of all textiles go to the dump each year

Capitalism is not the answer to innovation and advancements. It’s going to make us end up in a corporatocracy.

countries in Europe are not "doing way better" they are collapsing. their systems will not exist in 10 years. the birth rate in Europe is so low they won't have the tax money for most of these systems soon

but you know? im not against paid family leave. you want that? ask for it. don't screech about capitalism

capitalism isn't failing. the world is better than ever with a lower % of people in poverty than ever

you want to help the working class? ban immigration
