Why do people care so much whether others vaccinated or not?

For me, I just don’t care. If you’re vaccinated cool, if not then cool too.

If you’re someone who runs an your own establishment and you REALLY want everyone inside to be vaccinated and/or wear a mask, then I understand why you would care.

But I’m talking about everyday folk or citizens.

They may say they care because those who aren’t vaccinated are endangering everyone else’s lives but I think this is false moralizing.

These people don’t really care about others’ lives like that.

It’s more about control/being different

It’s like, “why do you have to be different?”

Or “why can’t you just follow everyone else?”

Per the data coming from the CDC, the UK, and Sweden, the vaccines gives you a 3 month period where you have a roughly 1/3 reduction (7 days to just under 5 days) of being contagious if you catch COVID and reduces the average length of infection also by roughly 1/3, compared to not being vaccinated. That's really what you're getting for all of this insanity. AND... those who have already had COVID or were exposed but fought it off will have the same antibodies in their systems naturally and are just as protected.

The vaccine doesn't stop you from getting COVID, doesn't stop COVID from mutating, doesn't stop you from spreading it, etc. It simply makes it easier to manage for about a 3 month period. This is why some countries are now talking about a FOURTH booster. Essentially, they've put your immune system on a subscription system, and thus want you to be under indefinite restrictions - forever!

in my opinion, if you believe that's a good idea - to allow yourself to be subject to ever more restrictive limitations, mandatory medical treatments, and having to show your medical papers every time you go anywhere or do anything, then in my opinion you're embracing a kind of slavery, and not just for yourselves, but for everyone. Oh, and NY wants those vaccine passports to now cover a mandatory flu shot and measles shot. Hopefully New Yorkers accept this further infringement of their rights, so that the government there can continue expanding what information you're required to show your barista or your WalMart greeter. Can you imagine mandatory STD tests and walking around with your results that you have to show to everyone? That's not far from stars and triangles on your sleeves. And don't think that the Left isn't anxious to expand and aren't already coming up with reasons why these things are "must-haves for the public safety."

COVID is never going away, and COVID almost certainly WAS created in Wuhan with funding provided by Fauci - who lied to Congress when asked directly about this, only to have the NIH provide documentation otherwise - because Fauci has been obsessed with gain-of-function virus research for decades, and since he couldn't legally do it in the US, he funded it in China with US taxpayer money.

If you want to debate, or attack or yell or blame.. here I am , you can throw your stones. the vaccine for covid 19 introduced in the united states is not a mere vaccine, infact the definition was changed so that it would fit the description. There are traditional vaccines which are not offered here in the U. S. this is not a lie. Every alternative or prospective alternative that is sought or found out gets put under the glass.. just so this shot is perceived as acceptable . IF there were objective (and there are) alternatives , people would choose the one with the best outcome, least risks. The current shot has more risks.. and its death count is higher than all the rest through out history. Why is it important to me.. well i don't shrug and say hey it doesn't matter. I remember a colleague telling me that they didn't want to get the shot because a friend who was triple vaccinated got sick. I turned to them and asked well how & why did this person get triple vaccinated when triple vaccinations weren't approved and for all we know by taking the vaccine improperly they damaged their immunity. The colleague didn't have an answer worth much of anything.

And that is the typical aspects of people who don't get vaccinated. They're ignorant. Uneducated. Usually on the outskirts of social norms anyway, aka social rejects. I've heard everything from the shot gives you AIDS to it giving women extra periods and that anyone unvaccinated who hugs that woman will also get extra periods. Like use thy teeny brains.

Now don't get me wrong. If you don't want to vaccinate go ahead. Just stay out of my business and away from my relatives. If you cause an outbreak in my business or one of my relatives to become sick... You'll get sued for every penny. And people who are unvaccinated but claiming they are, etc are getting sued for one. In Canada a member of a sports team who fabricated his vaccine card is being sued.

I often wonder this myself, considering no one cared about forcing other vaccines on people. When is the last time you heard someone say, they have to take the flu vaccine or wear a mask?

pre-covid saw lots of sick people in public, runny noses, coughing, red and flushed and no one gave a damn. Even employees at restaurants or other jobs.

I hated that at my work sick people would come to work, rather than stay home for a week to get better. Instead they wanted to share whatever plague they had with everyone else and no one cared.

I personally hope mask requirements stay around after covid for food workers, and I hope restaurants still continue to do enhanced cleaning/sanitation. Wish they had done in the first place.

Besides if someone is fearful that someone without the vaccine might hurt them, can't I be fearful that someone who might just have the flu could hurt me and force them to stay home too?

What is stupid is vaccinated people can still spread and help mutate the virus, the best thing they got going is the symptoms are less and they recover faster if they even have issues.

I think people just like to control others.

First of all there's herd immunity, where a large enough percentage of the population is immune that the virus can't spread to members of the population that are susceptible to it. Second, it's not that the vaccine "either works or it doesn't", it decreases the probability of contracting the virus. So say the vaccination is 80% effective at preventing someone from contracting the virus, if only you are vaccinated you have a 20% chance of contracting the disease if there's an outbreak. And while many have speculated about potential long term impacts of the vaccine, even 2 years out from the outbreak of the pandemic many long term affects of COVID have been documented.

Second, a fight against pathogens are an arms race versus a timed dash to a finish line. They mutate into new variants and if more people get infected because fewer people have been vaccinated, you're giving the virus new chances to mutate into new variants that vaccination is even less effective against.

I understand your thoughts, but also we have to look at the potential problems antivaxx create for both unvaxx and vaxxed.
When unvaxxed you can carry the disease and allow it to mutate into a new deadlier version that could make the vaccine worthless
I usually stay out these convos, but tbh, not getting vaccinated can cause problems for everyone.
Just like trying to get a doctors appointment at one point was hard, going to the hospital for an emergency was like a marathon because of all the unvaxxed has overwhelming the medical field making what is already an unpleasant visit 10x worst.
I mean they wanna refuse the vaccine why they going to the doctor and hospital asking them to save them after refusing to do what the doctors said would prevent it.

I work in healthcare. We have immunocompromised clients that contracting Covid would probably kill.

I'm vulnerable to Covid. Contracting it last year nearly killed me and ended up costing me six months of my life and my right leg.

In my business you wear a mask - properly so it covers nose and mouth - or you leave. You sanitise your hands or I'm not opening the security gate to let you in.

This is non-negotiable.

Staff, including myself, are vaccinated and will have boosters as needed to keep immunity.

1. Covid vaccines aren't effective at stopping you from catching any version of covid, so they aren't real vaccines, and no new version can be effective until we get accurate testing, because the test for whether or not you have covid gives false positives/false negatives most of the time.

2. Even if an effective one gets made, coronaviruses mutate too fast for it to matter.

3. Even if you ignore facts 1 and 2, any effective vaccine that you take would make you immune, so people who didn't take the vaccine aren't actually putting you or any other vaccinated person at risk. The only people who might be at higher risk of infection are ones who can't take the vaccine (because herd immunity), but because of facts 1 and 2, that doesn't matter.

This is not a liberal-conservative or NFL team discussion. We are talking facts here. Vaccines are the most effective tool right now to avoid both the spreading and the killing of the virus. Vaccines are not perfect but are much more effective in keeping everyone alive than anything else we got.
