When crossing the street, do you wait for the pedestrian walking signal to come on to start crossing or not?

Personally, I’d like to wait for the pedestrian walking signal when it’s higher traffic hours.

If there’s no one on the street, I don’t wait for the pedestrian sign to come on, I just cross whenever it is reasonable.

Where I reside, it is utter chaos and completely dangerous.

People rarely think, let alone care for pedestrians. Best to wait until a pedestrian bridge is installed at a crosswalk rather than for the signal.

Wait. Seen too much crazy on the road locally. Depends on the area though. In some city's around the world people do just walk out in front of traffic, so it’s expected.

Depends on the road, street type.

usually just go across road if traffic is not that heavy / fast.

if it’s fast or heavier then will find a crossing and see if need to wait for lights or not.

Depends, Most of the time, yes. If there's no traffic, I may go on the red hand, or when all traffic lights turn red, to get a 1 second head start.

I walk so often down the same streets I know when the lights are going to change so I just go for it.

Half of the cross walk machines in my city don't work properly, so kinda have to just look both ways and be sure it's clear

I usually wait for walking signal unless I'm walking at 2 or 3 am then there only a car passing by every 5 minutes or so.

I'm an American. I don't walk, I drive. But yeah I wait for the light to turn green.

No, I look at the traffic lights.. because drivers , aren't going by the crossing... signal.. and always look both ways
