Capitalism doesn’t involve coercion and therefore it is just. It happens to work very well at lifting people out of poverty and creating areas everyone wants to move to so clearly something is working for it
Its not socialism. That's what's good about capitalism 👍🏼
You didn’t even read the question
Capitalism is great because you just go to the store or go on amazon and get anything you want. there's lots of varied products that compete with each other so many choices. And there are many opportunities to earn more and more money.
What is your opinion on companies like Amazon being wasteful by throwing away products that are in good condition just because they aren’t profitable?
www.fastcompany.com/.../amazon-is-destroying-millions-of-unsold-goods-from-smart-tvs-to-laptops
And what opportunities do you believe are available for people to gain more money if in a capitalist system the earning of money is always in favor of the capitalist as opposed to the workers.
I have no opinion on what amazon does with their inventory... because its not mine.
In modern information era, becoming a capitalist (im assuming a business owner or investor instead of an employee or simply self proprietor) instead of a worker is easier than ever and available to everyone. Build a website or app. Or invest in stocks using an app on your phone. Even people in 3rd world countries are making millions doing these things.
Most people do not want to be capitalists because its stressful or are just too lazy to do more after the work day is done.
I did both of these things. I taught myself to code and made a website that make me a lot of money and then sold it all and bought a few other businesses and investments including a nice stock account. Now i dont work and just collect the earnings. There is no reason why most people can't do the exact same thing i did. But people just dont want to put in the hard work or risk their paychecks like i did.
So you choose to ignore the wastefulness and negative effects what their doing has on the climate?
As for this idea of becoming a business owner wouldn’t you say that’s extremely unrealistic especially when most Americans are living pay check to pay check to make ends meet.
It comes off as ignorant to say most don’t want to be capitalists because it’s stressful and they’re just too lazy when America has some of the most overworked workers in the world. The average Americans job (s) are hard enough and if you as a capitalist are making money without even working how do you not feel guilty that the hard workers are struggling to make ends meet while you look down upon them despite you yourself being in an especially privileged position since most people just don’t have the time or energy outside of the time and energy that their current jobs take from them?
I mean i worked 80 hours and lived on ramen for a year... so unless they are already working that hard and living that cheaply... they just dont want it as bad as i did. And i dont look down on them, thats just what they prefer, and i did what i prefer. Part of capitalism is realizing people have unique desires. Just because i did what i did and got where i got many people wouldn't want my life for anything. So its silly to pretend everyone wants to be a ceo for example.
there is no reason to work harder if you aren't going to get rewarded so everyone becomes lazy bastard and thus everyone, even the "poor capitalists" are poorer. Jeff bezos being rich isn't costing you a dime. In fact it's helping you tremendously
Why do you believe people are incentivized to work harder for being rewarded under a system where workers are disconnected from the fruits of their labor. Why do you believe this if there have been several systems in the past other than capitalism where workers owned the means of production and weren’t lazy at all.
How is Jeff bezos being rich helping me?
Talk about disconnected from the fruits of your labor... you work harder than your buddies in the gulag yet you get the same pay as everyone else... where are your fruits? They are feeding the politboro comrade
Amazon put great pressure on retailers like Wal Mart to lower prices and provide better service like free delivery. In order to survive every retailer has had to improve their operations and accept lower margins as well as providing more choice for customers: Winner: the consumer. I read a study that one year, (can't remember the year) Amazon alone was responsible for keeping inflation at near zero. Something around half of the products sold on Amazon are from small businesses that could never afford to do business with say Wal Mart and therefore would have no effective way of reaching into every home and selling their goods. Amazon has produced thousands of millionaires this was. Now tell me how Jeff's wea;th hurts you
work hard at your job, get educated, get promoted and make more money. Work overtime get more money. Right?
I don't think Capitalism is a 'good' thing per se. It's just human nature and we shouldn't antagonize human nature for the most part. I see it as a natural thing like government and war.
Something similar is said in this vid
https://youtube.com/watch?v=LuN5jpsSX3s
It's illogical, exploitative, and psychologically deprived
To the idiot that disagreed with me. It is EXTREMELY simple. The hard part is providing an alternative this late in the game. But the question specifically said not to bring up alternatives.
The undeniable concrete fact is that we live on a planet, a natural planet. Capitalism exploits nature, rather than working with it. Recipe for disaster, period. It's that simple. Why else would you enslave entire populations other than to exploit nature?
The biggest issue that will slap humanity right in the face not to far from now is that Nature will win. We are fragile, nature is not. Nature doesn't give a fuck about us, and it will only take a blip in the grand scheme of things for humans to realize how quickly nature will sweep us. It's so simple to understand.
The good thing about capitalism: My greed becomes a justified ''virtue''.
So I can feel better about myself while I look down on those who can feed themselves with less waste of effort.
Capitalism has brought the most wealth to the most people in the history of humanity. There are no successful socialist or communist countries (and also no successful socialists)
Because its the best we have atm i guess.
I do t have in depth knowledge about it, but at least it didn't cost millions of lives of average people to establish a powerful economy
The only way you can come to that conclusion is by denying the history of chattel slavery, murder and stealing of indigenous land, ignore the millions that die every year due to not being able to afford basic human needs for survival under capitalism, the many more who have died due to the imperialism by western countries, etc etc
Than sure, capitalism didn’t cost millions of lives, it actually costed hundreds of millions
🤔🤔 umm... thats kinda the point of capitalism. Merit. Its cruel, but if your homeless, its up to you to fix that.
Like, why do i have to pay taxes because some people can't get a job or whatever.
My ancestors were slaves, so you kinda dont get to play the slavery card here.
Stealing of indigenous land? You mean war? You can't steal land. You have to occupy it to claim it as yours... duuh.
And the indigenous people did to each other all the time, seizing their enemies land and ritually sacrifice them and massacre them. Genocides happened literally all of the world. As did slavery.
So you dont really have a point
@grega239 so you’re admitting you’re so incredibly selfish you’d rather let people stay without a home than advocate for a society where no ones homeless or going hungry? Why would you want that when there are alternatives.
Your ancestors being slaves doesn’t argue any of my points, you’re just ignoring them. No one said your ancestors weren’t enslaved and that wasn’t the point of bringing that up.
War? You mean genocide, it was genocide, you aren’t making a point you’re just deflecting and instead of making an argument you’re taking the “well this happened everywhere so it doesn’t matter” stance which is a logical fallacy.
No one said it didn’t happen anywhere else, no one said slavery didn’t exist anywhere else. Why are you even making these shitty arguments, taking a pro genocide stance? No one is telling you it wasn’t the first genocide or first enslavement.
I’m saying that this is stolen land, it’s a nation that was built off of genocide and exploitation. Even the founding fathers, they had capitalist motives for forcing the natives to bring back gold and would have their hands chopped off if they didn’t bring back enough.
Our founding father created an entirely new system for slavery which was race based and generational.
Columbus was so evil and outrageous that Governor Francisco De Bodadilla arrested him for inhuman and widespread crimes against the Taino/Arawak/Lucayan population and shipped him back to Spain in shackles.
American slavery was a unique type of evil, you can’t deny that. And you can’t deny that this is stolen land, you would have to spit on the millions upon millions of natives that were murdered in order for them to steal and occupy this land.
And yet again your not making any arguments you’re deflecting. Who made the argument that indigenous people didn’t have fights and disputes between tribes, but to compare that to the kill count cause once the colonization occurred which wiped out tons of different tribes and killed
56 million. You’re just making excuses to justify a terrible system that doesn’t work in the majorities favor, has never worked in humanities favor, and will most definitely kill our earth if we don’t do something immediately
Explain to me why its my responsibility to pay for adults who didn't pull their shit together. Name an alternative.
My point in bringing it up is to show you that its not a point.
Im not deflecting. War and genocide used to go hand in hand. Its happened everywhere so you bringing it up in the case of native americans is not a point. Im mot pro genocide, i just dont have a reaction to it. It happened, it can't be change, get over it.
Its not stolen. Military conquest isn't theft.
Again , this happened all the time so whats your point.
Your founding fathers laid the groundwork for the eventual end of slavery. Which in case you didn't notice , came to be.
Ok , Columbus was a cunt. This isn't a secret.
"American slavery was a unique type of evil"
Ahh yes america. A nation so arrogant , it this even its past cruelty is special.
Slavery is slavery. Chattel, sexual or otherwise. It makes no difference. Its just slavery so whats your point
Colonization killed 56 million people. What does that have to do with capitalism. Colonization happened under monarchies.
Capitalist countries dont have kings or queens.
Capitalism doesn't work in humanities favor? Is that why capitalist countries are as rich as they are?
You're complaining about human cruelty and blaming it on capitalism.
It will kill out planet? This planet will die no matter what system we have.
Just noticed you're 15. Of course you're a bleeding heart idealist.
What’s good is balance. Nature is an eco system. Same as economics. We can take advantage of peoples natural greed and still regulate them via the government.
I don’t agree people have natural greed. Capitalism just reinforces this idea, humans have actually always been a species capable of empathy and consistently surviving in groups working together to survive and grow while forming meaningful relationships.
Even think about hunter gatherers, it would be impossible for a single hunter gatherer to survive in those time by simply working by themselves. They needed a group of people to survive, humans have always been hard wired to work together. This is why when a human is lonely and lacking this meaningful connection is effects us so deeply psychologically that we end up depressed.
Humans have always grown and evolved by working together for the good of all.
Yeah... but self preservation is evolutionary. We only formed societies to because its beneficial to us. So yes we can be empathic but more likely greedy about ourselves or family.
Not really, a lot of those concepts are socialized. There are several cultures where your neighbors are regarded and treated just like family. It’s also a flawed idea that family ties mean anything which isn’t true since just because someone’s related to you doesn’t automatically mean you’re going to be close to them or even have a good relationship.
This is also a no brainer, if societies are good for humans than sticking together and working for the good of society is good for all.
Yes some societies are community driven but I guarantee you put an invading army or alien monsters nearby and watch the mayhem of people eating each other.

Having the government own the means of production is such a terrifying system. Even the Scandinavian countries with social democracy still have capital markets which i don’t think a lot of “progressive” people understand.
Well, I think the great thing about capitilism is you can decide how much money you want to spend. Companies can always tell you what you "need", doesn't mean you have to buy it.
Everyone has a chance to start from nothing and through hard work build there own business and be on top
It's the worst form of economic organization known to mankind. . .
except for ALL OF THE OTHER ALTERNATIVES!
Capitalism is the only economic system based on consent.
@doopayo I doubt you could understand the Difference between Capitalism and Corporatism. Long run short, i've invested into myself well enough that I can out compete others in my field. I put out results and it pays off.
The US is close to being a corporatocracy now anyways thanks to capitalism. You can’t deny that fact

Capitalism as a system inevitably leads to the wealth being unequally distributed and the vast majority of power being in the hands of a small few.
It’s so bad we might as well stop acting like we’re even the slightest bit Democratic and tell the truth. We’re no better than a representative monarchy, with corrupt politicians and presidential candidates as our kings and queens with no actual power but are being funded constantly by the people with actual power while we just sit here and consume the propaganda like loyal subjects.
Now are you going to answer the god damn question?
I did. I have trained into multiple industrial arts to the point where I can make a decent living anywhere on the planet. And how is your psychotic tirade about the obvious any different that what went on in communist Countries? A Party member in a Communist Government lived like aristocrats.
Everything, only lazy people hate capitalism and as I have shown in the past if it was a choice between capitalism and death, then give me death
Well that’s a hasty generalization
You didn’t even answer my question
Everything this is good about capitalism and look at the anti-capitalists usually they are well funded but act like they are broke
Your disgust when you see wage slaves complaining about income inequality
Go get a job and try being an adult before you call yourself anticapitalist little girl
Well you're not making the same salary as a mcdonalds worker
This has already been debunked several times, try again..
Proof? You're also not fleeing America to a new country
Capitalism is the only thing that works unfortunately. I used to want everyone to have good money like you but it doesn't work like that.. I'm not the best at explaining it honestly. What do you think would be best though? If it's been debunked, go ahead and tell us how it works then?
The question shouldn't be what's so good about capitalism but what's so bad about socialism
@Darksign Bad take. How are you drawing correlations between UBI’s and moving to a different country?
If capitalism worked than serious issues such as climate change, the growing wealth gap, and wage theft shouldn’t be problems at all.
I want a system of economics in which humanity will actually progress further rather than getting our jobs replaced by robots and getting paid increasingly less while businesses exploit our limited natural resources which will eventually lead to irreversible damage done to the only currently known planet capable of holding human life.
I want capitalism to be overthrown immediately.
I can spend time explaining the damage that capitalism has already perpetuated and why It’s important for humans to dismantle the system of capitalism into something that can work for our earth that’s more sustainable in the long term before it’s too late.
Climate change has nothing to do with capitalism and what you gonna do? Take all the rich peoples money away? Lol. Socialism will be the same
Obviously someone hypocritical that advocates against capitalism, who is also benefitting from it has spoon fed you all this info. They have talking heads everywhere. I suggest you look into socialism. You can't just fix the problems by removing capitalism. I'm not the person to debate on this shit but I've listened to a debate on it and it's clear capitlism is the only thing that works
You said my original statement has been debunked but that is EXACTLY what socialism is.. A doctor make a penny more than McDonald's worker. There's no motivation to work hard and set your self apart from everyone else
Can you explain to me what you think socialism is cause I’m not sure you understand
Its getting rid of the middle class so everyone is poor except the rich. You're asking me instead of telling me because you don't know
I wonder if any anti-capitalist buy shit off Amazon.
That’s the laziest critique communist and socialists get. Just because you participate in a system doesn’t mean you can’t critique it, we just realize the evils of said system and work to dismantle said system. While we dismantle it we’re forced to live under the system we dislike?
Like what do you want us to do, live in the woods away from society, lol
it's easy to reap the rewards I guess
it employs the free market, preventing government intervention; no regulation
What do you consider to be downsides to government intervention, and do you support an absolutely unregulated market or do you believe some things like food, water, and other essential needs should have regulations
Downsides to government intervention is basically that it would cause people to get upset with how involved the federal government is getting involved in "states rights".
I do though think that at least some regulations should be put in place. Just look at how the u. s. is without regulation. HORRIBLE
What type of instances do you believe should be left for states to decide and what should be left to the federal government in regards to government intervention
www.ehstoday.com/.../which-industries-should-be-more-or-less-regulated
Good read. I agree with most of it
Capitalism pays back if someone is ambituous, hard working, and know what he wanna do.
It's great for the wealthy, not so good for the rest of us.
It mainly gives people an incentive to work hard. It isn’t perfect, but far better than socialism.
Are you asking us to do your homework assignment?
That's funny! I never really thought about it until now!
You can become a millionaire with onlyfans but factory workers can't even afford proper nutritious food and their pay rent.
It rewards those who are ambitious and work hard.
Here you are complaining about Capitalism and yet white people are ruling the world because of it.
Capitalism fucking works.
Yet you’re an incel that complains about women on a daily bases? You’ve got not right to talk, now please go back to complaining about how shit your life is and how evil foids are
I dont complain about women on a daily basis. Where’s your evidence?
nothing... its killing us all
That it's a ticking time bomb
You are able to use this website and ask this question thanks to capitalism
Phones wouldn’t have existed without government funding. Look it up, I’m not engaging in bs takes
Lmao 😂 sure! How about you give me the links first? Then we will see about bs
I’m not obligated to do research for you, i have you information and now I encourage you to do your own research on said information but I doubt you’d do that since your only argument is “ source?”
No source means you're bullshitting. I don't think anything else can be expected from a kid who is trying to act like an adult.
time.com/.../
Apparently your fingers don’t work so you’re incapable to start up a Google search engine?
Lmao 🤣 "Alexander Graham Bell (/ˈɡreɪ. əm/; born Alexander Bell, March 3, 1847 – August 2, 1922)[3] was a Scottish-born[N 2] inventor, scientist, and engineer who is credited with inventing and patenting the first practical telephone." This is how phone came into existence. What government did and created was not for the people to use. It was for the military. Government didn't fund internet because they wanted then civilians to use it. They did it for warfare. My comment was about how you are able to use this website and ask this question is thanks to capitalism. You're using this technology. This "military technology" as the article says was not meant for you to use. You are able to use it because of capitalism. Technology is advancing so much because of capitalism. Do you think if there was no capitalism you'd be able to use phones? 😂 You should read my comment. Then you should read your bullshit. My comment still stands strong.
I’m not engaging in conversation with someone who can’t fathom the concept that Alexander Graham Bell is often credited with being the inventor of the telephone since he was awarded the first successful patent. However, there were many other inventors such as Elisha Gray and Antonio Meucci who also developed a talking telegraph.
You never even read the full article, just one part to try and justify your incompetence. Despite the fact that the article clearly points out the fact that stuff used to make phones today such as batteries, the gps, etc have been created with government funding.
You also aren’t even making any argument as to how technology is improving because of capitalism? These are still incredibly weak arguments as you neglect the negative effects of capitalism and consumerist consumption which leads to damaging our environment
Nothing. And trickle down economics do not work.
Competition and innovatation
Capitalism is how wealth is generated.
That’s capital, not capitalism
Not really. Capital doesn't produce wealth without investment.
One word , EVERYTHING.
How do you define capitalism?
It makes liberals mentally unstable.
Liberals are capitalist.
Pro capitalism is a liberal principle
you're anti money?
Not starving
Free markets
Communist.
