Depends on who you ask. The rich keep getting richer. They’re loving it!
For the record, they would continue to get rich under socialism. The economy is and always has been rigged to predominantly benefit the few who need it the least. You can scour the annals of human history and you won’t find a broadly applied economic model that hasn’t done exactly that.

there's always a tension between efficient capital allocation and govt investments which generally, are not efficient.

For once in your life, try to read something and understand it:

Socialism = an economic system
Communism = a political and economic end-state

Socialism involves significant social or government ownership of major industries within a society that can still have private property, markets, and democratic institutions.

Communism is a classless, stateless, fully communal society envisioned as the final stage after socialism.

Communism lends itself to abuse and authoritarianism because, JUST LIKE CAPITALISM, THERE ARE JUST A FEW PEOPLE IN CHARGE.

Socialism is likely to be more equitable, BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE ARE IN CHARGE.

If you cannot understand this, please go back to school and take a civics course and also a political science course. If you have already taken these courses, please take them over and demand your money back for the first time that you did it because you didn't learn anything. You keep repeating and repeating the same garbage that turns out to be just obviously untrue on its face.

Oh yeah, Capitalism is working out great for billionaires. Meanwhile the middle class is being systematically destroyed and the poor are being bled dry and then killed off by age 50 when they become too expensive to have around. Government are being bought and Democracy is being made irrelevant. Capitalism is working like shit for 99% of the population. This only ends one way.

You will always believe this no matter what the real evidence is because you have been conditioned to believe this and anything else but belief would make you very uncomfortable. That said, you might try stretching your cognitive limits just a little bit and put aside your proclivity for instant conclusions and consider the evidence instead. You might be surprised at what you realize!

The fact is tht more people have been lifted out of poverty with capitalism than any other form. The saying goes that with socialism you vote it in but you have to shoot your way out.
