#metoo scared the shit out of most men including the ones who would never dream of assaulting or forcing or raping a woman. Men took note of what happened to other men who were simply *accused*, and decided that prostitutes and abstinence were the best way to protect themselves.

Divorce-rape is a thing. Divorce-rape is when you and your husband get divorced, and the court gives you everything, and gives him a child support bill and a bill for alimony. No man with any brains will marry you or have children with you now.

False accusations are a thing. Men see that pissed-off women will falsely accuse a man of rape, assault, or just being “not nice”, and will watch that man get trashed in the court of social opinion, and often in a real court of law.

Men have no power to stop any of this, but they do have the choice to ignore women, and they are doing that.

You made a statment on another post about non-rape victions suffering from rape trauma. My comment was a result of some men (not all) getting offended by me telling them that I would like to take time and get to the them before inviting them over and being alone with them. This was long before #metoo but I had a few dates look hurt or offended and give me the "why don't you trust me" look. No, we don't think your all rapists, but we also know that going home with a guy we don't know that well is also not safe for a variety of reasons. STDs, maybe the guy is just looking for a short term fling and will break out hearts, and sexual assault being the worst case scenario of course. Clearly there are people who don't have sympathy for women who get assaulted by a guy she just met and goes home with, just sayin. I think it's a complicated issue from both sides which is why I think it's not a bad idea for both men and women to take their time before jumping into to the sack together, find out where both stand on these issues, and learn to trust each other by taking their time to get to know each other rather ther than take each others word for it that they trust worthy. I didn't communicate that very well before but that is why I took offense to your statement.

Being a victim is very fashionable and many women will say they have been raped when all that happened was regret sex. They also say they are DV victims when all that happened was a bad breakup but no physical violence. Being a DV and or rape victim can result in a lot of social status and/or actual money for many women.

Okay, well I would never do that or have the desire to do that and don't know anyone who's accused anyone of rape so I can't say I have any personal experience with that. I'm not saying it couldn't happen I'm just saying I don't know or relate to that. Plus, I own my choices and mistakes so if I sleep with the wrong guy and he breaks my heart I only blame myself for falling for the wrong guy. Anyway, I was merely trying to explain why some of us might act distrustful of men in the beginning.

Do you know of Brian Banks? He was in jail for 5 years until he was proven innocent, cases like that happen and people need to serve their time in prison for crimes they didn’t commit.

What do you think should be done with the woman who makes these false accusations? What should be the punishment for her if she does such a thing?

I absolutely think there should be charges towards someone making a false accusation. When I was younger I rememer a case where I girl pretended to get kidnapped and the police spents hours looking for her and wasting a lot of the city's resources and taxpayers money. When it was found out that she was lying she was charged, I don't remember much beyond that. Luckily she never named any false assailents so no one specific had to do time for a false accusation. I don't believe there is never a good enough reason to ruin someone's life with a false accusation.

@OneManOnly01 Forgive me I made the mistake of using my iphone to reply and textig isn't my forte but I'm not disagreeing with you, there should be punishment for making false accusation. I work in healthcare with patients, any man or women could make an accusation against me, that's why I always have a chaperone present for exams where patients have to be unclothed or anything sensitive is going to happen, they could get pissed at me for not getting them a narcotic or something, I don't know, trust me I get it, no one should be falsley accused.

And it is unknown whether she ever even paid that amount. And the guy though, he had to spend 6 years in jail

This is a strong statement but in some cases it is true. I know a few guys that make good money but had to move back in with their parents because the ex-wife took them to the cleaners. Divorce lawyers know which judges to pick. Usually the judge looks at what the monthly expenses were and that is what the guy pays. He gets to live on whatever is left.

I agree, I keep my circle small now, especially at work.
