Attention seeking behavior + being too basic/boring/pathetic to have any other way to stand out or be an individual. The results of the Millennial Generation, aka "Generation Me."
But I like seeing it and knowing right away who to stop taking seriously. If you're a grown adult and not at least a YouTube or professional "social media influencer" (which in itself is already something to not take seriously) and you've got pronouns in your bio or business card and it's not something your job is making you do or whatever; it's 100% by free will... Then I immediately lose all respect for you and deride you as a man/woman-child. I just shake my head, think of you as an ass, and walk away. I believe this is why BannaCookies blocked me on here.00 Reply

If by mental health you mean leftist indentitarian politics, then perhaps. I mostly see very stable and nice people who are tricking themselves into thinking their position is even remotely acceptqble because they are otherwise decent human beings.
You may happen to bump into less stable individuals, but I wouldn't pathologize the whole group like that. I call woke leftists crazy, but that is supposed to mean they have extreme views = very far on one side of the spectrum or not statistically normal. Not that they are medically insane. I don't think it's a good idea to actually pathologize your opponents unless you have a really solid case.00 Reply
Why is that people who post on here worrying about people pronouns seem to have mental issues? Do they not have enough going on in their own life and are too depressed to focus on their own issues that they have to make an issue about a pronoun on someone's profile?
Weird if you ask me.262 Reply

Weird if you ask me.
Asker+1 yWhat are your political views?
- +1 y
It's in my profile. I'm a political centrist. I like idea from both sides of the aisle like small government, less social programs, and a well funded military, but I am also heavily pro LGBT and pro-choice.
I wish both sides would just talk to each other instead of acting like radicalized *ssholes and getting nothing done.
Asker+1 y*Pro mental illness and pro murdering innocent babies because a woman can't handle the consequences of her actions.
- +1 y
Uh, being gay is not a mental illness.
Also, how dare that woman mind her own business and get raped by her uncle which caused her to become pregnant! Amirite?
Seriously, I swear you pro-life people insist abortions are only being used by women who just wanna whore up their entire life and not realize there is a whole multitude of reasons a woman may need one. - +1 y
Centrist supporting small government and heavily pro lgbt
I smell bs every pro LGBT droid supports authoritarian government - +1 y
@disgustingweebtrash
Every one huh?
Because you have spoke to them all personally? - +1 y
Usually blissfully unaware
- +1 y
Trump still fancies himself the leader of the Republican Party. Members still look to him for support and the possibility of another run for the presidency is still on the table.
Itās not really that hard to understand why people still talk about him.
Your comparison of Trump to those who cry about how others refer to themselves is really stretching it. - +1 y
@disgustingweebtrash
You? Or every single liberalā¦. because you have personally spoke to all of them? - +1 y
Ah yes because most people are individuals and fully understand their beliefs, good one
Let me know why supporting the state censoring mean things is a good idea - +1 y
@disgustingweebtrash
What does any of that have to do with you pretending to know the thoughts of every person who supports the LGBT community? - +1 y
Well hate speech can actually be deadly so it is a matter of public safety. Common sense.
Now as for lgbt protections, they wouldn't even be needed if a certain portion of the population could stop being *ssholes and just work alongside with us whether they agree with us or not.
Me being a lesbian is not going to suddenly make everyone else around me gay, but lord some of these people act like it.
Someone adding their pronouns to their profile isn't going to make the user want to throw on a dress and start calling himself a woman. That's just not how it works. If they have to put up working next to someone who actively makes their workplace hostile just by knowing their stance on transgendered individuals, then the poster can just put up with using a pronoun for the person requesting it. It's a pronoun, not them asking you to help them move a sofa. Just don't be a dick about it. - +1 y
As I said, blissfully unaware. :)

@disgustingweebtrash
Admitting it is the first step

You went through a lot of mental gymnastics to basically say "Yes"
You just confirmed you are a centrist - just an authoritarian leaning one - +1 y
I suppose authoritarian one in the same sense that a parent has to watch over their kids because they can't stop fighting and just get along for 5 minutes while I finish washing the dishes.
Don't touch your brother or sister and stop being mean and when I finish this I'll take you both out for ice cream. That's basically the mindset. You are acting like a child when you can't even be adult enough not to get along with someone just trying to exist. - +1 y
Wow, you really compared the state to a parent, how deep in the "the state should be my daddy" are you?
- +1 y
Yes and you compared the state to a parent.
For someone who says they're for small government.. not looking so good, big government where it benefits me right? - +1 y
The government shouldn't need to be involved. That's the point. It's the same as a prison. They wouldn't have to exist if people stop committing crimes. The government wouldn't need to pass laws if you would stop acting like a child. We all have equal rights. If it could have just been that then that's great! Except people decided to circumvent that and still find ways to discriminate so additional laws came through that said "hey stupid, since you can't grasp the equal rights part let me spell it out for you with this law."
- +1 y
It's more like "hey I'm upset go to jail"
- +1 y
Sure, for now
- +1 y
Doomsday scenario? You've not been paying attention
I agree - we should use sex as an indicator of an individuals gender status. - +1 y
Well, let's see. I've seen other countries where people are killed for being gay. I've seen here in the US, transwomen being killed strictly because they are transgender.
Still missing where someone was sentenced to prison for not using a pronoun. Help me out with some articles if you can.
If not, doomsday mindset indeed. - +1 y
UK has malicious communciations act, possibility of being arrested for nothing.
It's just working class members advocating more state control against other working class members.
- +1 y
"There's no evidence of it now, therefore it will never happen in the future"
I mean - you're asking for an article, but I surely imagine you already would support something like this if it were to come.
- +1 y
Why would I? I think the US prison systems are abused enough for minor offenses. But im all for someone facing civil consequences for their intolerance of something that simple. You can't just be civil and call someone by their preferred pronoun? Cool, well according to the law if it continues I can terminate you. No prison time, a law is still in place. You still have every right to be an *sshole and an employer has every legal right to send you packing. Win/win all around.
- +1 y
I don't support working class members being fired by corporations for such menial reasons but it is preferable to any state repercussions.
- +1 y
Hostile work environment is not menial, but I agree, way more preferable than government repercussions.
Like I said, the laws wouldn't exist if people could just act like grown adults and not pout about having to use a pronoun. They didn't choose how they were born. If they could have, they sure as hell would have picked differently. They are choosing to fix a mistake. You can choose to just not be a jerk to them while they go through one of the hardest times of their life.
I mean, if you were married and going through a very painful divorce where you'd lose access to your kids would you want a religious co worker to be sitting there telling you that you are going to hell for getting a divorce and that you are a failure as a parent because you aren't getting custody? Would you want them telling you "oh you just need parenting classes and counseling to be a better person and then you wouldn't be getting a divorce"? - +1 y
Grown adults wouldn't run to the state (like a child would to a parent) for help because some mean person said some mean things, just say mean things back lol?
I've had some pretty abhorrent shit said to me but never once did I want the other person's whole life ruined for it, unfortunately, i'm not sociopathic. - +1 y
Why say mean things at all? That's the child like behavior. Seeking justice against bullies is just you having to face the consequences of your actions. You said something mean and they are saying something with a bit more power behind it. You ruined your own life by running your mouth and being a jerk.
- +1 y
Often I imagine ignorance, but they're not doing anything directly to you, interesting how you view it as justice but I view it as tyranny.
What else would the state deem as offensive or wrong? That's the problem of giving the state an inch, sure, your party has secured many fragile people's safety by banning misuse of pronouns.
But what are you going to do when that same law you passed and celebrated gets abused by a different party - that you do not support in the future? Think very carefully before giving ANY power to the government. - +1 y
"It happens so we'll just give them more power anyway š¤Ŗš¤Ŗš¤Ŗš¤Ŗš¤Ŗ"
One day you'll give too much, don't think for a moment the modern world is exempt from what happened in the past. - +1 y
If you haven't been paying attention, no one has learned anything
- +1 y
Yeah? Then why is it here in the US we went from gay marriage being illegal and in some places a crime to now being supported by a majority of Americans? People learned all their fears about what would happen if we were given the same right to marry were unfounded.
Lessons were definitely learned. - +1 y
I don't think so - we haven't experienced a proper time of strife since we've been living it good since the post war economic boom.
People's morality is not consistent and will change especially in times of strife, extremism will go up as a result as it did during the great depression and I believe people will be fooled again by nice men in suits promising to solve their problems. - +1 y
Oh we are already dealing with it here. People tried to start pushing back against the power structure and asked for tolerance and now a bunch of angry man-children are walking around with guns playing cosplay Call of Duty in our streets screaming about being oppressed by those asking for tolerance and acceptance. They scream they are being racially profiled when people tell them to stop literally doing the same exact thing to others. They scream "my body, my choice" for a vaccine made to save theirs and others lives but then tell women to f*ck off about making decisions for their own bodies.
Terrorist and extremists are already here. They do it dressed in camo, wrapped in the American flag and carrying ar-15s to enforce their will on others. - +1 y
That's literally nothing. If you think that's bad, you have no idea how bad things really are.
- +1 y

- +1 y
You're the only trans person I've met that isn't left wing congrats that's actually a huge achievement hope ur proud
- +1 y
@ElizaPam nor should they judge you for that. For example, there are those who wouldn't even associate with Trump supporters because of misconceptions about them. Politcally, I disagree with them too, but I have also met some incredibly nice people who just also happen to support him. It's fine. I donāt prejudge that way. This also holds true for Biden supporters. I don't have to agree with people politically to get along with them.
It's the same for you when it comes to who you are. I told you before I absolutely see you as a woman. I donāt care what others think about your transition. I can think for myself. - +1 y
@disgustingweebtrash it's because conservatives say mean things about us and break our hearts

And mental issues are a sad standard in new generations, who find problems in every little thing and fear a lack of representation for any reason.
It's a sad state of affair really, and consider that sooner or later your government will have these brainlets in power. I really don't envy you.00 Reply 5.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's just a way of introducing yourself. It's not rocket science and we do not need to exchange hand shaking with a prostate exam to call people out. Let people introduce themselves for who they are.
