Are you worried about the Obamacron Variant?

When I was at the gym, the closed caption was enabled on a monitor I was watching the news on. The closed caption called the Omicron Variant the Obamacron variant. It did make me think.

I’m concerned about it but far from panicked. I want to know as much as possible about new variants as it pertains to my own health care decisions but the media tends to sensationalize these things. Delta wasn’t as bad as the media initially speculated and the same might be true of this. Covid isn’t going away. The virus is likely something we’re all going to have to learn to live with going forward and it will continue to mutate. Be informed and take whatever precautions you think best for yourself and your family but don’t live in a constant state of worry.

Thank you. I like to be realistic. This virus is not the flu. I’ve lost 2 uncles already and one of my co-workers had to bury her 30-year old son. He went on a vent and never came off it. It was one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. That being said, we all have to live our lives. We can’t hide in our homes forever and be in a constant state of panic over every media report of a new variant. We’re just going to have to accept that this virus may not go away and life may not ever be quite the same as it was before the pandemic.

A virus doesn’t care about a perception of winning or losing and you largely don’t have to change your way of life. You just have to accept that you won’t be as safe as you were prior to the pandemic. I do everything I did before covid but I take certain common sense precautions. I just got my booster shot and I’ll keep my vaccine current. I’ll wear a mask when I’m in a crowd but I’m still going to live my life. I’m still going to visit family and friends. I’m still eating out and shopping. I saw The Rolling Stones earlier this month. You can’t hide forever out of fear but it’s responsible to take some precautions to minimize the danger because none of us live in a vacuum.

Like someone else pointed out, they always say the "New variant is worse than the last variant." I believe we will never see another day without COVID because there will always be a new variant. What would stop another varients? Nothing.

I still cannot believe how much America has changed since January when we got new people in the White House. There will always be variants of the SARS2 coronavirus, just like there are annual variants of the common FLU coronavirus. We have to learn how to deal with it.

Yes I am, new viruses can mutate from existing viruses. This might be more like a new virus. It has the medical/science/ goverment people really worried. It is still too early to tell if the present vaccine will have any effect on it. A booster might have an effect on it or maybe a new vaccine will be needed. One thing is certain the more people get infected that have not been vaccinated , the more chance mutations will occur. There is no reason why everyone is this country that can be vaccinated is not already vaccinated. No excuse, Africa has plenty of reasons not to be fully vaccinated.

There were a bunch (of variants) in between Delta and the Onimcron, but they came and went SO quickly, that even the news media didn't mention them.

People need to use some common sense. Reasonable precautions, not mandates, will pull individuals through.
