Zero
I have had some guilt killing certain animals, but only because the death wasn't as quick as it should be. One time it was a rat I had to deal with. Didn't die right away. Felt sad about that for several hours actually
But a week later I got rid of a snake that got into my mom's house. Maybe 3.5 foot long. She calls me on the phone scared of this thing so I drove across town to her house to kill it. Felt zero sympathy but it was also a quick death so that was probably part of it
If an animal presents real danger I tend to have zero zero feelings about it. It crossed into our territory. It fucked up. Thems the breaks and predators should understand that instinctually.
If an animal doesn't present a danger other than potential health risk like carrying disease or getting into food sometimes I feel guilt there. But again only if it doesn't die quickly.
Like I can't feel bad for a rat causing house repair damage, shutting everywhere, eating your food and contaminating it. Planning to have babies and spread them into YOUR home.
I'll show mercy to some animals, but a lot of the time. Fucked up boi. Your time to go

So many people have shitty justifications for eating meat. The fact is it is wrong. It is slaughter of the innocent. This is why I stopped. “Oh but growing fruits takes up land” yeah, it does, that is not equivalent to raising animals to slaughter.
I can’t differentiate from a animal in a field to meat on a plate. I struggle to eat lots of it. You can go vegetarian pretty easily, I’ve done it before. My advice is to research some online recipes, rather than buying a frozen product specifically marketed for veggies. Cause they can get so pricey not to mention it’s mostly all processed so eat the microwave meals and you can easily gain weight. Home cooking for everything is always the best in terms of nutrition. Don’t be fooled by the labels, even the vegetarian ones
I feel bad so I left it few months ago and joined my mom in being a vegetarian. Well she left it few years before. When I was a toddler I even felt guilty eating a plant. I was very sensitive that time and couldn't eat meat at all. I ate it for like 3 years but then I just stopped forcing myself and I am a vegetarian now by my own choice. I can't become a vegan as I love milk products so yeah.

It's impossible for animals not to die when you eat. Even your lettuce contains thousands of small animals, that you're eating with every bite.
When it was harvested many other larger animals died (like larger insects, birds and rodents) and to create the field required ruining the habitat for bigger animals like rabbits and deer.
You can't have food without someone paying the price. It's impossible. And... How do you even know lettuce isn't feeling horrible pain too? Just because they don't have a nervous system doesn't mean they're not reacting to injury. They do, and it's scientifically provable.
Just stop over-thinking when you eat and try not to be wasteful. Like some of the native Americans who would pray for the soul of the animal that died, give thanks for the sacrifice and maybe it'll help you feel better. But you can't avoid causing harm to some other creature as long as you're alive.
All those other animals are in the same boat as we are. Whether they eat plants or meat or both, they also cause death whenever they feed.
So, you can keep that in mind and try to realize there's nothing that could be done to avoid it and therefore you have no need to feel guilty for something that's utterly unavoidable.I used to... I was vegetarian for over 2 years, but honestly I just decided that I'd eat meat because there is enough meat wasted / thrown out that any personal choice I made was irrelevant in the greater sense and that it must really suck to be a farm animal... like, your whole existence is centered around being a food product... Also, I figure I'd have no complaints if, after I'm dead ofc, animals or fish or bugs or whatever wanted to eat my corpse that's fair too.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/FQMbXvn2RNIThe thing is nature doesn't care about feelings. It cares about reproduction. Like it or not humans are currently one of the most successful and dominant animals on the planet. We didn't get here on our own. we got help from various other species to help achieve our dominance. By being domesticated these species directly tied there own success to ours.
You shouldn't pity them there evolutionary strategy is extremely successful. Currently there are as many chickens in north America as humans worldwide. Compare that to tigers who have a wild population in the hundreds and more tigers alive in zoos than roaming wild. To me the more successful species is clearly the chicken.
Should we treat animals better? yes. But we should not pity them. Some just have a better game plan than othersFeel guilty? Absolutely not! God gave those animals AND plants for us to eat. Thinking about what you said, what did that carrot or potato do to you to deserve ripping it out of the ground and killing it? The same applies to plants as animals. (By animals, I also include fish in that category.)
If God didn't want me to eat meat, then why did He put omnivore teeth in our mouths. Our bodies are designed to eat both plants AND animals, and derive the nutrients from both!
If you don't want to eat animals, that's your choice. But please don't take the idea that those of us who eat them are wrong or that we're screwing up the planet by doing so.Nope. I feel guilty after eating plants.
Some poor animal could have eaten it instead and converted it 100% to food. I could have eaten that animal and converted it 100%
Instead here you are stealing from that poor defenceless animal and converting 5% of that plant matter (humans cannot digest cellulose like herbivores can). All because you're a chicken shit coward that would rather eat a limp plant, and steal from a dumb animal.
Joking aside vegan food is largely highly processed GM food. Meaning it's likely carcinogenic, and most definitely bad for your health long term.
Veganism is also largely a cult.If you do, you don't understand how food is produced. For any fruits or vegetables you have to clear land. Clearing land ruins the environment. Harvesting and planting kills all kinds of rodents, ground nesting birds, etc. Not to mention all the chemicals needed for monocropping. Fuel used for tractors and hauling the food, seed, and chemicals.
There are ethical ways to get meat. There are meat markets where animal are raised humanely, don't get pumped full of hormones and medicines.
You could hunt for your own food as well. No, I'm not a pussy,. wimp, beta male snowflake.. fuck animals, I don't give a shit about what a less superior being on the food chain with less intelligence thinks... They was meant to be eaten... I feel sorry for. humans being killed in real life murder videos, I feel sympathy and. bad for the victim... But you should see the comments there... people there call me a. pussy cos I care about human victims... imagine what they would think of you... They're jus animals dude... So what... They probably don't even have thoughts, they're too dumb... brains. are probably too small to care about anything so I doubt they care they get killed or even feel pain...
Sometimes I feel a bit grossed out and I have definitely felt guilty at times. Have had a few stints at being vegetarian and about to start again actually. Seeing animals squashed in the back of a truck is when the guilt really kicks in and I tell myself I’m going to quit meat.
No, because I don't feel that other species that eat meat are evil.
Predatory wildlife are very important to ecosystem health, without them many other species die off entirely, or are forced to migrate to new regions where predator influence still exists.
Crops take up space, it results in higher death rates of wildlife to homogenize ecosystems with crops and spray them with toxins to keep pests off.
Humans are not plants, scavengers, filter feeders, or coral, we have to kill things to live, it's not ideal for the species we eat, but it's reality. What they did was taste delicious and are easy to raise and kill and skin and cook - That's all they need to do - They know their role in the universe - They also have a lot of proteins so 200 years ago talking like this you'd have looked like gandhi..
No. Because if it were objectively wrong, I imagine I would not have evolved to be compatible with it or even capable of benefiting from it.
However, I can empathize with others on this topic as I'm a living being that has experienced suffering, has survival instincts, etc. So I'm well aware of how ruthless our substructure can be perceived.Never once in my life, and I never will. I love meat, I'd post a photo of one of my deer kills but it would get deleted because there's blood in them. So here's a couple of rabbits i killed with a shotgun and ate, get mad
After 14 years of eating foods and vegetables if I eat a little bit of a meat now even by accident I’ll be on the toilet for about a week and I feel my consciousness gets less when I drink water my consciousness goes up even when I eat something cooked my consciousness goes down even if it’s meatless.
Not guilty, but questionable. I wonder why our human bodies are capable of being Omnivores.
I mean there are days when I get tired of eating meat 🥩 , yuck. That I want steamed vegetables or something.I definitely would if I did eat it because I love animals, but I’m a vegetarian.
Don't feel guilty at all. It tastes amazing and humans are made / evolved to eat both. I don't think I would have the stomach for the killing or the gutting of an animal / fish though. I'd have to pay or barter for that, but do it happily.
Well I'm a pescatarian so I eat fish but not other meat. I don't feel guilty about eating fish and I like the taste of it. I would feel bad about eating other meat though. It's my preference to eat sea creatures instead of land mammals.
How can you not afford to be vegan? It's much cheaper, as long as you avoid foods that are trying too hard to appear to be meat. I'm not vegan myself, but a lot of my meals are. I like Indian food, and a lot of that is vegetarian, and most of that can be made vegan by just using oil instead of ghee (clarified butter). My daughter, who is vegan, can bake amazing cakes that are really delicious.
I did around your age and turned veg for a while, sometimes I still do. guilt may not be what I feel.
I feel worse when I see it wasted... an animal died for this cause.God's admonition to Noah -
“Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. Like plant vegetation [which I permitted to Adam], I have now given you EVERYTHING. ... Only of the blood of your own lives [ie MURDER] will I demand an account.” (Gen. 9:3,5). emphasis added
