I think Roe v. Wade will be whittled away, essentially allowing red states to outlaw it and blue states to continue to allow it.

I’ve said this on another opinion before, but I think the Republican Party always wanted to get close to an overturn, but not quite reaching the goal line. If Roe is overturned, it’s possible (possible being key word), a lot of single issue voters may lose motivation to get to the polls. Religious organizations have given millions due to this issue alone, so the pro-life cash cow may not be as prevalent. It’ll be interesting how an overturn will affect the midterms. Typically when politicians take away something from voters (such as the ability to have an abortion or the ability to not have health insurance for example), this hurts in elections. Ask the Democrats in 2010.

Again my theory above is possible but not certain, so I may be wrong.

Once it’s back to the states, allowing California, NY, and others to continue to allow it, my guess is the new conservative initiative will be to outlaw it at the federal level, so we may see court cases where states are suing states, which would lead to an interesting landmark case. Highly unlikely any law is passed outlawing abortion nationwide.

If roe is over turned blue states like Washington California Oregon New York will still have abortion Texas Florida Alabama will get rid of abortion, Purple states there will be more of a debate but the country is getting more and more polarized so I doubt we will have purple states for much longer

Even if Roe v Wade were overturned, all it would mean is that abortion becomes entirely a state issue and no longer a federal government platform. So yes, most blue states would still allow abortion, and frankly almost all red states will too at least to limited extents.

Not unless there was a federal law against abortion. That could get proposed much further down the road, but isn't likely to pass. All RvW effectively did was prevent states from outright banning abortions, when prior to that it was entirely a state law issue.

I disagree. Almost all of them want to see the federal government stripped of that authority, but the more libertarian-leaning Republicans and moderates don't want it banned outright. I would love to see that happen, but it's extremely unlikely because the Republican party is a coalition of people with some overlapping common goals, not a hive mind like the Democrats.

It will be legal in blue states, and there will be more and more blue states. Texas and North Carolina are close to the tipping point. Georgia is already there. Republicans can only hold power by gerrymandering and by making it as difficult as possible for the urban poor to vote.

I think so but as far as the number of abortions go, I don't think anything will change.

The only reason RVW is even trending right now is because the Supreme Court is questioning why we have it there since the state no longer gives a shit about our medical privacy anymore. Whether it will actually get removed isn't really known yet.

Roe will prob be overturned. And states will have the power to choose. So all right wing legislatures with enough votes will outlaw abortion as much as possible.

what's funny about the federal government is, republicans only like it, when it benefits them, but, then, it's all about "states rights" when it comes to anything else.

It will definitely remain legal in blue states, but as for the red states it seems like women don't like have any rights.

It will probably be mostly made illegal , but not 100% , some abortions will always be allowed. Democrats break laws they don't like , so there will always be abortions. Like there are always murders.
