It’s a right wing thing. Nationalistic fascism. Tell me what what to do so I don’t have to think.

Putin supposedly wants to restore the soviet union so I don't know where you are getting "right wing" from unless communism is right wing now to the left.

@Snakeyes7 the actual politics of Stalin is up to debate. But Putin’s proven support for republican candidates in the US should be proof enough.

That was never proven. In fact it came out of the very people that wouldn't shut up about Russia that there was no evidence of that.

Because that is what totalitarians do.

You can thank the October Revolution from 1917 for that. Ever since then - apart from a few years in the nineties - they are stuck with an extremely strong state and little individual freedom. "Czar" Putin is just another continuance in that tradition. Face it, after four generations, most people either just emigrate or accept it.

To be fair, life was pretty bad under the czars as well. Nicolas II was a shitty czar as was is father and grandfather. The only czar of notable worthiness was Catherine the Great and she was pretty early on in the line of czars.

Point is, Russia has changed very little in terms of freedom in the last 500+ years.

They are controlled by misinformation. The cold war was basically a fight between the U. S. A. and the U. S. S. R. to see who could better control their own constituency. The US only won because the game was thrown by the Chernobyl incident. But that, too, was part of the play - in that it adhered to the Soviet philosophy of "cheap quantity over expensive quality," not to mention all the misinformation that kept their leadership in a constant pissing contest which manifested as not letting each other know when they made a mistake.

COVID could have been our Chernobly but fortunately we at least wrenched ourselves away from the seductive power of misinformation long enough to let a Democrat clean the mess up before we inevitably plunge right back in to letting republicans deceive us with the illusion of the promise of riches while they take all the real life loot.

They do a lot of things right. Love their stances on gay rights. Their feminists are even better than ours, I saw a thing about feminist women working hard to be thing and cook well desperate for a husband. WTF. I thought all feminists were fat with purple hair and refused to make sandwiches.

You have much fewer freedom and rights in Russia than here. They are communists

But i dont value the freedom to make bad decisions at the cost of making good decisions. Ie in the US you can be trans but try not baking a cake for a gay wedding. While my understanding in russia you are not obligated to participate with gays but you can't be trans. So in this particular way Russia is far superior and more moral.
