Oh sure, every year I stock up at least a months worth of food, propane, toilet paper etc etc in case I can't get out during a snowstorm or power outage. Grew up on a farm though so probably a different reason than most, when ya get snowed in out on a farm it might be days before anybody can even check on ya let alone get ya out

Propane heater and propane camping stove, if the power goes out not having a way to keep warm or cook food can be deadly! Especially in a bad winter.

I got a little out of control when the Y2K scare was upon us.
I had $15,000 cash in small bills in my gun safes.
Just as the Covid crisis started, I stocked up on non-perishable foods.
Bought an extra freezer for meat.
In December 2019 my doctor told me that this is going to get bad and get ready for it.
So, I was well prepared for this and it never really affected me.
Didn't lose my job, just the opposite worked more during the 20 months that this was bad than I had for most of my life.

I have a pantry that is always stocked up on staples, and I am stocked up on paper products and toiletries.

Yes, to an extent. Some long-lasting food, water, precious metals. Things like flashlights, batteries, lighters, battery powered lamps and radio. Oil lamps and candles. Guns and ammo for hunting and self defense.
We also have a small fruit orchard and raised beds with herbs and veggies.

No, I can't afford to stock up, especially with how bad prices are with everything. I saw some old prices on things and holy hell the world is falling apart

Yup. Not to mention the smaller portions of products now. Like smaller bags of popcorn and tubs of butter.

Nope. Probability of a financial crisis is very low, even in a 2008-like situation. Social crises in developed countries basically always are nonsense made up by people who love drama.

Inflation is heavily focused in a few industries experiencing supply chain issues, which implies it is not a systematic issue.

And yes, even with inflation. The financial system has become far more resilient than it ever was before. The stress tests show it can now take the 2008 financial crisis very well.

Sure, it can limit economic growth and such, but it’s not causing a financial crisis

I stocked up on toilet rolls before Brexit. My flat is still full of them. It wasn't really necessary because the changes to customs arrangements are being phased in so any shortages haven't become critical yet except for things like water purification which is out of my hands anyway.

Yes. I have several months of long-lasting food, as well as silver and bic lighters (for trading), and quite a few munitions to defend things. I also installed security blinds on my windows and own a full brick house.

Just bullets lol. During the pandemic my neighbor bought a bunch of toilet paper and was asking if I stocked up and I told him no. He then asked if I stocked up on anything. And I said " just bullets and I figure that'll get me as much toilet paper as I need when the time comes". 🤣

@ChefPapiChulo yeah I thought the emotional would've been the tipoff it was in jest. But it was my way of poking fun at the unhingedness of hoarding toilet paper.

Not really, but I try to keep at least 2 weeks to 1 month of food and bathroom products on hand just in case, you never know when deliveries will be disrupted.
