Yes they are the same
They are similar but one is worse to say than the other
No one of those words is bad, the other isn't

A slur is a slur. Depending on who you are, who you roll with, etc its either offensive or no thing. I know not everyone gets that though. I have been assured that I get the N word pass but have ALWAYS declined it. This is because I have been told I'm "a brother still" or in spirit or honorary because of my Sicilian heritage and because I've rolled with a crew and had people's backs plus gave back to the community multiple times and stuck up for them against racism. But even so I tell them look I dont like being called the G word and actually got someone fired for their job over it. I dont like being called a wet back either or a dago unless the people saying it were also Italian.
Otherwise I would have problems with it too. So when people say its an issue when black people use the N word I actually get where the black people using it come from and I'm not gonna really pay much mind to it. Should all these words be a forgotten part of history? yes I'd love for that to happen! But do I see it going anywhere anytime soon? No not really. But people need to understand that just because people from the hood call each other this N word with the "A" at the end does not mean that white people or anyone else has a license to then start using it against black people. I've rolled with black people who said this word, use it frequently, doesn't bother me. It's their word reclaimed and changed up.
After all the trauma if that's what they want to do, let em. They honestly mean nothing bad by it anyways. Also dont stereotype like all black people talk this way either, they dont. But for those that do just understand its not meant harmfully and to just chill and let it go, especially if you yourself aren't black. As far as getting called cracker or rather "cracka" yeah it pisses me off because I never owned slaves and no one in my family ever has in our recorded history. We had no dealings with people of African descent prior to moving to the states in '52 and our dealings were only in the aid of their communities through local churches and I even personally risked my life a few times to help in my contributions. So if a black person doesn't know me and starts spouting that I will get pissed because it's like spitting in my face in a way.
They blocked me because they don't want any debate they're a black supremacist and you sound like you maybe one as well.
You seem to misunderstand language evolves over the years. New words can use and words change definitions. This is a natural occurrence in language and thanks to this occurrence n** has actually became a positive word thanks to rap culture.
It is very racist to think the color of your skin changes the definition of a word the modern definition of n** is actually positive thanks to all of the culture it's just black supremacists want their special word and want to have the right to kill people who say their special word. We live in a black supremacist country it's very sick in disgusting we need to start treating people based on merit not the color their skin
Also just proves how racist you are by thinking anyone who doesn't think like you must had a perfect lis at a perfect life the fact is black people have massive amounts of privilege and much easier lives Is there anyone else born into the same class thanks to the color of their skin in this black supremacist country leave we live in
I grew up very poor my father murdered my mother when I was 17 and stole our government assistance leaving us with no food throughout most of my life you just cry because you're not getting more handouts because of the color of your skin black supremacists like you make me sick I want a merit based system but you are very racist and will not allow it
You think black people should have special rights to say words like white people cannot say and literally think the black people should be able to attack them for it you're a black supremacist racist you make me sick I'm done speaking to you you'll never understand because you're just that far gone and sick and disgusting
Two different things her she has to understand what the word cracker means and where it came from way back in the 1700s or before that even. Racism is taught two-week individuals who are followers who need a reason to be angry and then try to justify it
I was 5 years old driving down the road with my dad my step dad and the car cuts us off. I never heard this man say one cuss word in my life and the day that happened he yells out you fucking Niger and I looked at him and I need my heart just started pounding and he kept going on and on trying to get up next to the guy and he's yelling it and he looks at me and he tells me say it call him a fucking n** and I just look at him. And he told me say it and I just looked it in. And then he started getting pissed off at me he yelled at me say it. And I remembered you shaking my head NO. The guy turned. We kept going straight and now his Focus was on me we pulled into the driveway and he tells me to go to my room about three minutes later he walked into my room takes off his belt and this is what I tell you to say something you said and he smacked me and smacked me and snack me about an hour and a half later my mom got home from work.
She walked into my room and said what was wrong I told her she turned around and walked out and next thing I know they're arguing my mom came back into my room and I said I don't even know what that word means she explained it to me right then and there I had a choice I couldn't use it became like him or I could be like me same person that I am to this day I don't like that word the n word so what I'm trying to say is I don't really give a flying fuck I look at it this way no matter what color you are no matter what race you are we are all still 97% of the same DNA God gave people and they're less 3% of their DNA eligibility to adapt to their environment it's common sense because of the harsh conditions on this planet our guys have common sense and love to make people so they could adapt their bodies could have tapped to the extreme art conditions on this planet. I also look at it as if you were part of the problem are you a part of the solution if you want change you need to be a part of the solution
I use gag to evaluate where we're going in this world who we are becoming the greatest evil on this planet is ignorance e 100% is the greatest evil on this planet being ignorant being a follower
I keep saying the path that we are headed down right now the manipulation is going on right now to our government they need to back their ass I'm when they get caught doing what they're doing they want a fall-guy they want something to take away all eyes on them they are playing both black and white we will have food shortages you can already see the gas prices you can see right where we're headed is common sense we are going to need each other if we're going to make it through this time instead of fighting each other we better be there for each other
How honest can you be with yourself are you a part of the problem are you part of the solution pick one they get the fuck out of the way I don't think you'll ever stop racism but if you want to slow it down you want to almost get close quit using black and white in the same sentence we had nothing to do with racism but there are many people out there each and every day in our government and in our media that push and push it and push it let's be smarter than them like I said we are going to need each other one day and it's coming up pretty quick
Both are things that shouldn't be said, but there's so much horrible and hateful history associated with the N word.
@ShaTTeredMasterpeace he apparently didn't like what I had to say either. No one knows struggle till they face that struggle first hand. some people are too far gone to have any empathy left in their hearts.
@t-8900 pretty much.
He really really wants to say the N word and get away with it it seems. Pathetic
@Still-alive look at his asinine responses on my post... says a lot
Here's a thought:
Let's just call people by their names because that's what they should be called.
Agreed but this doesn’t answer my question though
Oh. I answered "yes".

On a more obvious note, they're the same in that they're both insults. They're also both insults that are a bit silly in that they're factually incorrect. Whether you think being called a black slave or a white slave owner is more offensive is a subjective matter. Despite the direct hierarchical implications of the word, the recent state of that hierarchy has been flat, and now has been inverted; victimhood has become a currency sought by many. It's probably better to be called a slave today.
Cracker is similar to n** as a function of language. They both refer to skin colour (niger = black, Latin) (cracker = white/cream, English, food) while also referring to master/slave status; n** was commonly used to mean black slave, while cracker was commonly used to mean white slave owner, also relating to the sound of a whip.
They're the same insofar as establishing a collective responsibility to individuals that didn't do or suffer anything themselves. Calling a white person cracker is similar to calling someone a Nazi for no other reason than they are German, or a black person murderer because they are black, or a Muslim a rapist because they're Muslim.
On a less explicit note, cracker has within it a subversive connotation. It attempts to pin slavery on "white" ethnicities. This could almost be forgiven within America exclusively, except for the previous point, as well as that the vast majority of white ethnic groups in America at the time didn't own slaves; they couldn't afford them.
However, outside America, and across time this is even more egregious, as most slave owners today, pre-abolition, and across all history alike were mostly not white. Slavery was a global multi-cultural phenomenon done by virtually all cultures, where all ethnicities have been both slavers and slaves of other ethnicities. And, coincidentally, it was the "white" Brits at the time that bullied the rest of the world into abolishing the practice against their wills.
I suppose you could also say that n** also has a subversive connotation insofar that it might reinforce a victimhood mindset that could trap black people in a self-fulfilling cycle of inferiority, and if that's the case, then all the more reason they shouldn't identify with the term.
It's a question of intent. The N-word can obviously cause a lot of offense when used in the original manner, but the more modern use is just as a form of address between friends (supposedly it's the difference between "n**" with an "-er", and "nigga" with an "-a", although GAG will probably auto-correct both of those).
The word "cracker" on the other hand, is never used in anything but an ironic, joking manner these days, and so would always be taken as such.
These comments are living testament of the shameless double standard some people want inflicted on the world.
Who gives a shit what's the history behind a word is. If you're racially identifying someone using a degrading slurr without their permission of course you're in the wrong.
Unless what comes around goes around these divisions will never end.
If a certain group wants some kind of respect they need to be respectful first, antagonizing someone isn't the way to get their respect it's the way to ignite hate, hate that might not even have existed in the first place. Having once been a victim doesn't justify victimizing others and that goes beyond race it's common sense among humans.
Pretty sure anything that is intended as a racial slur carries weight regardless of race. One shouldn't have more weight than the other.
So in my eyes n*gg*r, cr*cker, sp*c, b**ner, g**k, ch*nk, d*go, h*ji, etc. All horrible and shouldn't carry more weight than the other.
They shouldn’t but some obviously do…
I will be straight up with you, I do not see it that way. Sure, we can say n** has more weight because of slavery, but in my eyes I don't see it that way as a guy who is black.
I have been called n**, nigga, hershey, oreo, half-nigger, all across the racial spectrum, meaning whites, blacks, Mexicans, etc. I can't take it seriously and just see it as a childish insult these days.
Now, to preface this, I don't say these words and I have no desire to say them. My point comes from I got hit with these slurs from every race at least once and it doesn't bother me because I view it as a universal words that is not exclusively said by one race or directed at me by one race. All races can be and to a degree are racist to each other is what I am getting at.
Just say either of these terms in a crowded area and see all the different reactions you get.
If I call a girl a cracker, she’s gonna be hot.
if I call a mate a cracker, he or she’s done something stupid.
if I’m playing pool, football etc, then a cracker will be a great shot.
never ever does it have anything racial about it.
You Americans seem to turn everything in to a racist thing.
weird really weird
Well we americans have a racist chattel slavery past that still has ramifications to this day after all
It is bizarre
A bit like Fanny lol
It depends on what you mean by "the same." Like obviously one is more stigmatized but the ways those words are used are identical. They're words to regard a specific race in a demeaning way. The only difference is the history tied to those words and while I'm sure some would disagree, I'd say that doesn't make one worse than the other. That's like saying if one type of weapon was used throughout history to kill a specific race, then using that weapon to kill that race is worse than using a different weapon to kill a different race. Like, you're still using a weapon to kill a race. The intention is the same, the use is the same, and they're both equally wrong.
To say they’re similar is truly missing the mark. But if you’re not a person of color, you’re probably not ever going to truly understand the magnitude of it being said to you with such hate and venom. The power dynamic is where the gravity of the words differ. Which side has inflicted more pain on the other? That should be an easy answer.
Calling a white person Cr*cker isn't as bad as the n-word. One slur originates from the country Niger in Africa and the other one is just used as a joke that is still wrong and disgusting. People just shouldn't be racist assholes and worry about other stuff. Also, thanks for the free block list in this comment section 😂 I was able to block a few racist.
No name other than your first name needs to be referred to. Because it makes a physiological difference to how you treat people when you use a bad word on every and any race. All disparaging names influence the behaviour you have on others, which is stored deep in your conscience. Be wise with your words. 🙂
I don't do that whole objectivity nonsense when it comes to what is deem to be offensive to a group. If "White" people deem it offensive, then it is offensive.
But I wouldn't really care what racists think. I just kind of put those guys into their own special clan.
On a personal level, no. Because I'm not bothered by being called a cracker, whereas many blacks are bothered by the N word.
On a societal level, I don't know or care. I have no control over what society deems acceptable, so it's not worth thinking about.
From my understanding each word, I don't wanna say originated, but came from a troubled past. As one word was used as a word to address slaves and one was used to refer to the slave owner. The cracker refers to crack of the whip the slave owner used on the slave from my understanding. Both words carry hate. But you also really only see of the words taken and reshaped by a culture and used in a different form. But any word used in a racial, derogatory matter is wrong. There's plenty of those words out there. I've been called a cracker by a group of Hispanics and was once call a "nasty ass white boy" while I was at work simply trying to do my job. I don't think its so much the words that bother me but the fact that some people truly believe only white people can be racist.
I don't understand why a person of color would even call a white person a cracker. Back in the day this was reference to a slave owner or anyone who'd dicmscipline slaves. Slaves would get whipped the sound of the whip making contact with the slave would make a craking sound. So no the word cracker isn't as bad as the n word.
I don't know much about that word.
But racist words shouldn't be said period🤷🏽♀️
Wasn't cracker a term that came to be due to white slaves? Wasn't the other came to be due to the black slaves?
If so there the same.
Yes but saying one is clearly worse than another in todays world
Do you get the history behind the N word and who traditionally used it and to who?
Sure it might be hypocritical but that still doesn’t escape the reality that using the n word is wayyyy more harmful and impactful than using cracker. This pretty much isn't disputable, just see what reactions you get if you say either one in a crowded area.
One has more weight, and power behind it, the other doesn't.
Would you say either of these words?
No apart from when it comes to been in songs. Because mostly Rap songs just throws out offensive words but everyone knows that Rap is not saying such things for the purpose of been literal.
And i wouldn't say other racial slurs too. There is hardly a need for them unless if your racist.
What would you do if someone you knew said either of these terms around or towards you?
I am not a person who likes to start violence but it would highly depend on the context of the way the word is said. Words need context to there meaning. If they said it just to be offensive then no doubt i would just punch them.
If a mate is been dumb and say's a slur because he found something funny i would probably just ignore it because the context here is he is not saying to be racist.
Myself just stay's away from saying them at all. But I agree on context always matters.
To be fair, one word has a bit of a... troubled... history. While the other one is just a cracker
I've never called a black person the n word and have never been called a cracker. In my part of the country, only black people who are over 65 or 70 still use the word cracker. If somebody called me cracker, I would laugh my ass off. It just sounds so funny and it has never been used towards me as a term of racism.
Depends on who's saying the word "cracker" and how they are saying it, and yes, it is a highly offensive racist slur for white people everyone knows that it didn't start as that but that's what it is now. There are so many racial slurs for white people
Neither of them should be used & that is all I will say on this subject.
I think it's supposed to be an equal insult (cracker) but it doesn't carry as much weight. I certainly wouldn't care. you could call me a cracker all you want and it wouldn't phase me at all. personally I think the word n** is kind of a shitty word and everyone should stop using it.
Tbh I find the n word even harsher than the b word (for mexicans lol) too, there's just something about it.
They're meant to be the same but only one of them works.
Works in what way?
Makes the target actually mad.
Cracker is used as an insult, but nobody gives a shit about it (unless there's an opportunity to hold someone to their own standards).
n** is also used as an insult, but people fucking flip out at its mention, and actually use it to justify murderous rampages. You're not even supposed to say the word at all.
It's the difference between a sling shot and a gun. The purpose is identical, but one is way more effective at that purpose.
So would you use that word?
Awesome you are a racist then :) see ya
Same personally but The N word is more offensive because of the History to be honest if someone called me a cracker I'd be to busy laughing to get mad but I guess America is different
They are similar because they're both offensive but I think the N word is much worse since it has a story of suffering and violence behind it.
To be honest I don't like the N word I make a lot of racist jokes to my co workers bit I never said that word I have a friend who is Hispanic and he calls me a cracker and I tell him I'm going to send him back to Mexico but it doesn't offend either of us I'm a comedian so it's hard to offend me but I feel weird saying the N word and never understood it unless I'm making a joke about it
No, their version is a reference to the horrible things they went through. No idea about 'cracker'. I see that as a 'nutter', a crazy person, it's all okay
Cracker is referred to a slave owner as they whipped the slave owner the whip would make a cracking sound. Cracker isn't as bad as the n word.
Both are completely unacceptable words but the N word hold more weight compared to saying cracker considering of it disgusting history behind the n word.
One is worse than the other but really nobody should ever call another person any kind of slur
Historical issues makes one of those words worse. But logically or philosophically using either word, or singling anyone out by their race is wrong. But it’s the real world…so we have affirmative action.
The purpose of name-calling is to hurt so yes attacking anyone's race just as bad no matter.
Do you notice how in this question you are saying the word cracker but not the N-word which shows that the N-word is a million times worse than the word cracker.
I just wanted to add the first Ns were poor Irish men who were slaves under England. England called them this word, long before blacks were.
And?
I just don't care. It was derived from the slavery period and like Redneck, I can't be bothered.
They are both said with the same racist sentiment, which is what matters.
They are similar but one is worse to say than the other
It depends on the context. Overrall, most people would say the N word is worse. But , if you're white and a person is calling you a cracker with malice it's gonna hurt a lot.
Don't call me a n** if I didn't call you a cracker! They are the same and shouldn't be used. Along with the N word, which is actually worse.
Cracker is a slur against black people not white.
I get this whole right wing wanna be victims. But you don't even know what you're talking abot.
1. That’s wrong
2. Im not right wing
Where did I say YOU was right wing?
“ But you don't even know what you're talking abot.”
The word “you”
They're both offensive, but one you can't type out on social media or say out loud in public.
Ironically, Justin Bieber and Morgan Wallen haven't been canceled for using the N-word.
I don't know do white people find it offensive? im not white so i wouldn't know
I wouldn't take offense if someone called me cracker, so no
Technically it’s a slur but it’s not on the same level at all
Yes. Both words are insulting to the opposite race
Equally? Or is one worse than another?
They’re just bad in general. I've never cared to weigh words. I also dont like the B I T — curse word, C U N — word and others
They're similar but saying the N word is worse.
The n word is by far worse
The N bomb is worse but both are derogatory
Nope. Cracker was never used to oppress a people.
No the n word is worse
I’d laugh if someone called me a cracker.
because i think it's true
Yes, it’s the same.
