+1 yI try to. But in the US it's almost too late in many types of business. The government has allowed so many big mergers that it's just about impossible for small businesses to compete. It's just about impossible to enter the market without large amounts of money. There are some exceptions, but they are dwindling fast. "Mom and pop" businesses are already a thing of the past in many business sectors.
Much of this is in the name of global competition. The problem with allowing mergers for global competition is that it reduces domestic competition to a small number of monopolies and oligopolies. There are other ways to compete globally without consolidating all the smaller businesses into giant mega corporations.00 Reply

Good business is good business. I'll support a small business if it's a business I like and or friend/families business.
My favorite local pizza place is a small business. They also have damn good pizza that's probably the best in the area. Several places like that around here.
I'm not gonna support a business that doesn't deliver a good product/service and many times overcharges. If the local business doesn't deliver then they're not getting my support.
Because that's how business works. Big businesses go under for the same thing if they don't deliver. With big businesses most of them will. just sell instead of going under. Like Baskin Robbins and Dunkin Donuts were bought out by a parent company.
If you look around most Baskin Robbins are merged with Dunkin now.10 Reply
Yes, I do. But just if we can see future for this business according to the market nowadays.
Every business begins small, but if it has what it takes to grow. Why don't support, right?
If their business is promising even tho small yet, it's just a question of time till it go to the top.
Even Microsoft started in a garage, so...🤷♀️11 Reply
+1 yI definitely do, but some people unreasonably jack up their prices and it’s hard to support. My friend has a small business for make up. Her lip glosses are like $6 , but then her shipping is $7. I simply can’t support something that is relatively cheap, but costs an arm and a leg.

I also frequently circumvent the franchise my own company collaborates with to pass on relevant business to the smaller group we used to contract with because his outfit does a much better job at a comparable rate. At the end of the day, I care about quality of service as the most important factor.

A lot of these "small businesses" are actually fronts, affiliates or offshoots of big chains and franchises.
You're probably confusing "small business" with "independents" as they are not one and the same.
But regardless, what the hell do you think the giants were before they became giants? Everyone started as a small business.10 Reply26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes, they are the backbone of the country. Small businesses got the short end of the stick during the pandemic. The little hardware store was shut down but Home Depot was allowed to stay open. I suspect that it was because 90% of small business owners voted for Trump or that the big chains donated lots of money to the Biden campaign.

+1 yI believe in supporting a business with good customer service. If you're a small business and have shitty service, I'll support someone else. Size is less important to me than service.

But all small businesses need to be supported evenly by the government. Not giving non American owners a seven year tax break so that they get an unfair advantage over American business owners.00 Reply452 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. So I'm very curious.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yNo. They keep putting their prices up. If they want our support, make it a decent price. Don't be greedy.

Understandable. I, too, find their higher prices annoying, but also realize that it's generally due to something else: Bigger companies can spread their overhead-costs on far more products bought by the public en masse, while smaller businesses have far smaller supply of stock (& percentage of that sold in a day).
