I don’t think so. I think who you are referring to is the higher up and elites. Those people carry lifestyles where it’s nearly impossible to have any empathy. They are the devils work. Even when they donate, I don’t even buy into it as kindness because 1. Most of them donate to big branded charities 2. Money is nothing to them at that point. As for rich people that aren’t associated with Hollywood? I think many of them are kind hearted, some of them can be assholes

@babygirl_S like I said I’m sure some can be assholes, but they aren’t super rich to the point where you wouldn’t catch them hanging out with someone of less. Do you notice celebrities mostly never ever hang out with people that aren’t celebrities? If they do , they are paid or it’s some kind of promotion of theirs

Yes and it’s nothing more than promotional and beneficial to themselves. My personal opinion, the more you disconnect from regular middle class - average class communities , the less empathic you become towards them.

Yes. Contrary to what people believe or might perceive, lots of riches and privilege makes you lose touch for the struggling common man and woman.

Your perspective and experiences of life will be totally different and you just can't simply relate which causes you to not feel compassion and empathy for others.

Power, riches and privilege doesn't effect negatively only a select few.

Money makes people selfish so in a way yes. But it's not the losing empathy like having damage done to your frontal lobe. It's more of thing a person chooses to be selfish cause they have it.
You could become rich and choose to ignore that therefore not losing it.

Not necessarily. People who have been poor but became wealthier remember what it was like to be poor. People who have never been poor may be less sympathetic.

Well they do say money corrupts, whilst not an absolute truth I would argue a lot of people once they come into significant money does diminish their ability to empathize with other people in less fortunate positions

I reckon people are born with a certain amount of empathy, But it doesn't necessarily grow if they become Richer.
