If he spends it all for a big mansion then also people will say that he is such a selfish person who spends all on himself instead of spending on donations. According to me he did the correct thing. I don't hate someone who was born into money. What I do hate is the competition that goes on between the billionaires which is senseless. Jeff Bezos is going to dismantle a 140 something-year-old bridge in the Netherlands because his yacht won't fit through it. Excuse me? You can't find another place to sail your boat? The dutch are going to throw rotten eggs at it, and I hope they ruin it enough so that he needs another boat. You would think that these people would use their money to better the world, not show off with it. By the way Jeff--you are #2.
All billionaires contribute to society in a much larger fashion then you seem to be aware of they employ vast amounts of people , and they often fail as much as they succeed. Mr. Musk does not owe anyone anything but he is a man who will accomplish things for the human race on grand scale. He is already doing so. He is very likely to succeed in his mars colony and his dream is to make humanity a space faring multi world species. I am excited to watch and am sorry I am to old to sale the winds of space. What a grand adventure awaits the young.
I hardly doubt spending billions of dollars on a yacht contributes to anything on a large scale. Sure it keeps those people building it employed but that vast amounts of resources are still being wasted on a damn yacht and could have been used on scientist for example to do research on how to better the world. And that is why i will definitely agree with you on Elon Musk of all the billionaires i have seen in my life he is the only one i truly respect because he is not flaunting his wealth and wasting it but he is actually pursuing a very admirable dream and actually trying to advance humanity unlike everyone else
Well sir , the thing is those billionaires have more money invested usually then they have on hand I mean it’s not all in a giant treasure chest in some bank , it is working. I normally do not like anyone so that is saying something for me. I am a very distrustful person. I know the world as it is I have traveled it extensively. I've never met him so can't claim to hate him. My only impression of him is that he seems intelligent but gullible, self absorbed but at least trying to maintain an appearance of trying not to be so (could be genuine - again, I haven't met him), and lucky by birth but in a little bit of denial about it.
It's called modesty, maybe he realizes he doesn't need much space and his money is better spent elsewhere. Either way ur kinda just being a hater. Why be mad at the guy for doing well. When you do well do you think it's fair or rational for a stranger to hate you one whome you've never met?

One of the faces of capitalism so yes. I don't know why people have the sense of falsification that he is better than the Facebook owner or Amazon owner but he's not. I feel like they may give him a pass just cause he works with NASA stuff but honestly he does a bad job at that and creates lots of space waste which is actual real problem space has.

I don’t have a problem with him. It makes no difference to me how much he spends on a house. If anything, that makes me admire him for being good at managing money and not blowing through it.

Regardless of the number, you can feed them all today and they're all going to be starving again tomorrow. And who would spend thousands of times as much on other peoples' problems as he spends on his own home? Never mind the fact that his yearly tax bill is thousands of times that 50k home value.

No, I don't hate him, but I agree that he has the ability to help a lot of people, and thus the responsibility to do so but chooses not to. And that greatly disappoints me. But I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate him for it. I hate that decision, but I don't have a strong opinion of him overall.

For some reason rich people tend to be very stingy in my experience. I know a rich family that owns so many supermarkets but can't even stand when their sister/brother opens a small supermarket since they are afraid of the rivalry. Ok i can understand it but they are already so rich and well known in the city. They dont even have to work anymore and so they could stop working and many generations after this family can even survive due the money from the supermarkets
