Man, I love it. I love the desperate attempts to twist this into something bad. This is nothing new of course. But the truckers are new in the combination of effectiveness to innocuousness.

The establishment just has no idea what to do against it. Violence is easier for them because all they know how to do is to tell the cops to go beat people. With things like guns rights portests where a bunch of people stand around with their families having a cook out and circlejerking over each others' guns, although it's utterly innocuous as well, it looks scary like ooh men with guns. They're easier to call nazis even though they're not because people are weak like that, they're also not as disruptive. They aren't honking as munch and neither are they burning, looting, and murdering like the progressives. They go home, CNN and buzzfeed spin up some propaganda, and it works.

With the truckers, what can you say about them that will actually stick? Some bullshit like they're Nazi terrorists holding the supply chain hostage? No, they're just regular people, *they are* the supply chain and they're just simply refusing to work and enacting a non-violence protest to create change -- as *should* be their right.

Amen. We can finally agree on something. To me, "honk honk" has always meant: "And [sanity / reason / intelligence / etc.] has left the building!" It's the sort of situation or statement that anyone with a functional frontal cortex will encounter and take a step back, and say: "Wait, what?"

So now, these Canadian "leaders" see fit to make literally every reference to the greater meme be about the edgelords that made Nazi jokes. Which, they use to regurgitate the age-old slur that Trotsky insisted always be used when deflecting: "just call everyone racist." Alinsky embraced that same lowlife tactic, for this reason: "Because it's instantly damaging; yet totally irrational. The power of it, is in the irrationality of it. If you can scare the public with an irrational claim, reason will become useless."

On TVTropes, this tactic is also related to what's known as the "Chewbacca Defense." Essentially, shock and confuse the audience / jury, until you win by default, eliminating from your opponent the possibility of being able to get anyone to want to listen to a reasoned defense regarding the main topic.
