+1 yIn the US it is, except parts of Nevada. Usually the question here is, should it be legalized.
Mixed feelings on that, cause generally think it should but at the same time, we've all had shitty jobs we hate and feel stuck in. Can you imagine that being your shitty job, you don't want to do and can't get out of?
Would anyone want to have sex with someone who doesn't really want to do it, but needs the money? I'm sure there is plenty of people who would say yes.
Can you imagine boyfriend's pressuring their girlfriends into, so they can get money? I sure can.
Far as I know though, it is only generally legalized in other countries, not the US. It does happen though illegally.10 Reply

+1 yNo, I believe that prostitution should be legalized and regulated. There are always people willing to pay for sex, prostitution is acknowledged as the world's oldest profession, so why not make it safer for the women and for their clients by regulating it... like Amsterdam and Nevada do... including regular medical checkups for the women. It can also be taxed, creating revenue for governments.
If you ban prostitution, it just goes underground, as it does in most of the United States, hiding under the guise of "an escort service".20 Reply

+1 yLegalized prostitution can ensure the women can operate in a safe environment as well as having better access to healthcare for whatever purpose they need.
I would never use a prostitute but there are times when for certain people it is actually necessary. Disabled people can have a difficult time not being able to be sexually fulfilled and I have known some that use prostitutes.
Its all about taking care of the people who think prostitution is their only way to provide for themselves and besides, some women are so sexually active they become prostitutes as they get satisfasction from the role.10 Reply
+1 yIt should be accepted and legalised.
banning it would be really hard, increase the level of abuse and control organised crime has with it, likely increase trafficking.
Also banning it …. Do you think kids should starve?
it’s the stuff that means a girl or guy goes into prostitution that needs to be looked at and that slope into prostitution stopped. Things such as drug addiction, poverty, not being able to afford food and heating.20 Reply
+1 yProstitution has always been around and always will be. I think it should be legal and regulated properly for the safety of those involved. Shut down the questionable brothels & give the prostitutes the means to protect themselves.
- Prostitution here is legal BUT they can not hire protection, they can not hire support & they've no laws protecting them.20 Reply
+1 yI'd support a total ban. However, the enforcement would have to be more consistent. And the penalty be reasonable. If we immediately start public electrocutions of whores and johns, there will be rioting. But no enforcement at all is de-facto legalization!

+1 yUnless you're going to sort out dating so the guys who are getting ignored find compatible partners, it's an impossible task. Rather legalise and regulate it, at least that way the business taxes go to support civic works as well rather than crime.
Plus, at the end of the day, why should it be illegal to charge for something you can legally give away for free.10 Reply335 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. it already is.
doesn't stop it.
so may as well legalise it with protection laws in place instead of letting folks be abused and such illegally.
bit like abortions, banning doesn't help as all it actually does is stop safe ones. people will do it either way13 Reply- +1 y
Dunno if you we're aware but Escorts are not illegal over here. It's already legal to be paid for sex. However it becomes illegal if a pimp is involved. Our country, stands by that women should be allowed to be paid for sex then also stands by the parts that should be illegal is when it's been abused by a Pimp making it a different case.
So it is already Legalised over here. Just like abortions are too over here.
It's already illegal in many countries, and it's only makes rape more common.
https://journalistsresource.org/politics-and-government/legal-prostitution-reduce-rape-holland/00 ReplyData shows that legalizing prostitution only causes a net increase in illegal sex trafficking and sex slavery, because it generates more loopholes and makes prosecution harder and more costly.
The harm outweighs the benefits, so prostitution should remain illegal.00 Reply12K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I respectfully disagree.
Sex work should be decriminalized, licensed, regulated and taxed. It is the only way some people can earn a living.
The regulative eye should include focus on sex slavery and criminal activity like drug abuse. .
And I oppose government bans. They always mean more power for them and less liberty for citizens.10 ReplyAbsolutely not, it's a victimless crime. Consenting adults can have sex all day long and it's perfectly legal. But if $1 is exchanged, now it becomes illegal. Absolutely idiotic. Who cares what consenting adults do? And if it were legal, it could be regulated and taxed. It would be brought out into the open and made much safer for not only the prostitutes but the Johns.

It is not a choice for many women especially outside the Western world.
It’s already illegal where I am. But there are loopholes. You can’t stop adults who want to exchange money for services. They are gonna do it regardless. They just call it “escorting” or sex work. Guys want to bust nuts, and girls want money. Supply and demand. Even if you increased the punishment to death it still would not stop it.
10 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No... it is the OLDEST profession in the World... and it will never go away. in reality... humans NEED human touch... and if someone is willing to provide that in exchange for money (man or woman) I say, God Bless them... Mary Magdelin was a Prostitute, and Jesus did not Curse or Shame her, He Loved Her...

+1 yNo.
Honestly, it is the oldest profession in the world, and any form of contractual or standardized relationship is technically exclusive/contractual prostitution.
Some people have no other source of income.
Regulate it, absolutely, but there are people that depend on it as their profession.
What good is imprisoning them going to do, aside from none?10 Reply
+1 yIt is already all but illegal in many countries and it happens anyway. They say that it's the oldest profession and it probably is. It has always been around and always will be. Banning it just allows it to be regulated by criminals.
10 Reply3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Prostitution aka with pimps yes. Escorts aka without pimps no. And my country already reflects this law. It's not illegal for a girl to get paid for sex, it's illegal for a guy to abuse a girl into using her body to get money for him.

+1 yNo, its impossible. Women and men with little values have to make money somehow. It's a supply and demand situation. You would have to influence the demand before the suppliers give up their business model.
00 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. The world's oldest profession. Regulate it for workers' safety yes, but ban it no. Don't think any attempt to ban it would succeed anyway.
30 ReplyNo, because that would be slavery. Slavery is when someone else claims to own your body and decides what you can and cannot do with it. If you wanna sell your body, it's your choice, not any kind of government's choice.

10 Reply 11.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No way. Why should it be banned to charge for something you would be allowed to give away for free?

I don't think banning things works in most situations, but legalizing it would just make it more common here, which I don't want.00 Reply 817 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Why? If men are willing to pay for sexual favors, and women are willing to perform sexual favors for men for money, who gets hurt? If the man and woman are clean with no STDs, what's the harm?

+1 yIt's already illegal, what does banning do? I don't think anything should be banned. The laws that are already on the books should be enforced.
00 ReplyIts banned in most countries anyways. Even if you ban it, it'll still take place under the table. So since it will exist, best to regulate it so that its in the best interests of the people and safety is guaranteed to the sex workers.
