Prostitution is the most useless "job" that can exist in a society, and it causes a lot of problems. First of, prostitutes have no ethics when it comes to family structure, and they do sleep with married men on a consistent basis feeling absolutely no guilt about hurting another women. Is it the married man's fault? Yes of course he takes most of the blame for breaking up his family by cheating, but homewreckers should also take some of the blame especially if they are doing it repeatedly.

Prostitutes can also engage in other elicit activities, like drug distribution. If you are already part of the underworld, wouldn't it be tempting to you to make more money? There's a lot of money in the narcotics business, so as a natural consequence, you see a lot of prostitutes dealing with clients.

Remember also that it encourages young women that their bodies are a source of income, which is completely messed up. It's really ironic when feminists complain about objectification of women's bodies in movies and ads, but then support this kind of behavior due to its "empowering nature". If a man is selling a woman's body = objectification, if a woman is selling her own body = owning her sexuality? The end product is still the same regardless of who is selling it. You will encourage incels that they don't have to make something of themselves and become a great man to find a woman they can marry, when they can pay 50 bucks for half an hour with a complete stranger every Saturday night. Do you not see why that's a problem?

Now, you will have those who say "but it's the oldest job". Excuses, more excuses. The ban will not completely stop it, yes we are aware, but it will make people think twice before they try. If you have prostitution being celebrated and encouraged, it's only a matter of time before your sisters and daughters start applying, and I don't want to live in a world where that is normalized. Drugs are banned for a reason, but cartels operate from the shadows to reach their customers. If the drug trade was legalized, more and more people will suffer due to the legality of another harmful agent being allowed to be sold to everyday people.

Prostitution is banned for a reason, and that reason has NOTHING to do with "oppression of women" and everything to do with keeping families together and maintaining the social fabric.

I make improvements to myself that I think make me a better person. I think I’m pretty awesome but I’m not without flaws and I know I’m biased… that being said I don’t see a happy marriage in the future for me. Years of effort and I’m spinning my wheels. Being a good person while making good money isn’t enough. Can’t fix something if you don’t know what the problem is… frankly. Ide rather enjoy a prostitute then continue to improve without any recognition for my hard work. If women don’t want to be in a relationship with me that’s okay I’ll take the prostitute as the backup option. And I really don’t care if that helps or hurts others because those same others don’t care about me either.

I'm only 20. If I thought like you did, I would have no purpose in life or motivation to wake up everyday in the morning and go to med school. I would have no purpose to think of having a good influence on the future if society is already doomed forever, but I do have purpose and I do have motivation. The story is not over.

What you need brother is self-belief. You may not know the problem, but there's always a problem. Do you excercise? Do you have any addictions? How have your past relationships gone? Are you good at vetting your partners? How do you come across as? Do you lack confidence or charisma?

See, more than anything I realize it's very easy to get laid. I have had women who were interested in me that I turned down because I want to wait for marriage. What's very hard for a lot of people isn't getting the action, rather settling down with someone who meets all of your beliefs and expectations. THAT is very difficult to find.

I'm not a dating expert, I don't claim to be. I'm just a 20 year old who answers questions on the internet from time to time, but this is something I learned. In life, you get what you negotiate. Depending on your priorities, you don't get what you think you deserve, but what your negotiating power allows. Attractive people get with other attractive people, and if someone doesn't find you attractive, most likely it's your fault and not theirs. The good news is that there's always something that you can do. Maybe it's some of what I mentioned in my questions, or maybe it's due to something else I'm not aware of, but I don't have all the context.

The workers are safer without pimps and allowing law enforcement to deal with abusive customers. Prostitution should be 100% legalized. As a person who voted "no" pointed out, engaging in illegal behavior invites other illegal behavior. Make it legal, and you reduce that "side crime".

But the most important aspect of this which I don't think many people have addressed is the ethical and moral perspective of STOP SEX NEGATIVITY. Most if not all of these "no" answers are based on the idea that sex is a bad thing, that it's something for behind closed doors, it's dirty and shameful to have sex with people. It's not, and it's time for society to turn away from those unhealthy Puritan ideas that the natural act of sex (which by the way, is the reason you are alive right now reading this, and the reason anyone is alive) and just accept that humans are horny animals who want to bone down. If they want to exchange sex for other resources that can be traded for other goods and services, that should 100% be allowed.

We allow people to sell so many other useful services, but this garbage attitude people have about sex is ridiculous. So many people are sexually frustrated because of these unhealthy attitudes. They don't get laid, then they go buy an automatic rifle and kill a bunch of people. Not only if prostitution were legalized, but the underlying attitudes about sex were changed, there would actually be less prostitution because people would be more open and getting laid naturally without buying the service.

That being said I would actually go the opposite direction and say that we should legalize it entirely and regulate it heavily. Lol, prostitution is already illegal in MOST of the states in the US. However, I feel like it should be decriminalized because making it illegal would not stop people from engaging in sex work. Since it is illegal, there is not going to be any regular testing to check whether these workers have STDs or not. Prostitutes and clients who seek their services will be protected by the law.
