Why is Trump and some Republicans praising Putin by calling him "smart" and a "genius" for invading a peaceful nation?

If they are a fan of Trump they are a fan of Putin, they even sound like each other. So not far fetched to me anyway if you love on mad man you love another. Even though it's of course already proven how ridiculously stupid all of this has been by Putin, Russia is going to suffer hardcore over this for decades, even more so than Ukraine, assuming unless nuclear war happens of course, then we are all screwed, but for these people death and suffering is always genius I bet, as long as it doesn't happen to them.. which dumb again.
It's just brainwashing though really, sadly. People are too gullible. Once they are hooked too, I dont know if there is any way to get them out of it. Cause they basically get taught to reject reality in favor for their own delusions, they also get taught to project their own flaws and madness onto others, why they are often fond of using words like brainwashing too, cause they been brainwashed, so they accuse everybody else for being brainwashed who doesn't think like them, it's sadly effective. Cause if you accuse them for being brainwashed, even though it's true, it proves to them that it's "us" that is brainwashed.
@crmoore Is that supposed to be a Trump quote?, here is one too.
"Well, what went wrong was a rigged election and what went wrong is a candidate that shouldn’t be there and a man that has no concept of what he’s doing. I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, “This is genius.” Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful.
So, Putin is now saying, “It’s independent,” a large section of Ukraine. I said, “How smart is that?” And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s strongest peace force… We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy… I know him very well. Very, very well.
By the way, this never would have happened with us. Had I been in office, not even thinkable. This would never have happened. But here’s a guy that says, you know, “I’m gonna declare a big portion of Ukraine independent,” he used the word “independent,” “and we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.” You gotta say that’s pretty savvy. And you know what the response was from Biden? There was no response. They didn’t have one for that. No, it’s very sad. Very sad."
@crmoore " i said this is genius putin declares a big portion of the ukraine of ukraine putin declares it as independent oh that's wonderful so putin is now saying it's independent a large section of ukraine i said how smart is that and he's going to go in and be a peacekeeper that's the strongest peace force we could use that on our southern border that's the strongest peace force i've ever seen there were more army tanks than i've ever seen they're going to keep peace all right "
But you stick with the sanitised version.
@goaded
Actually, I just went with the CNN version, it's the third paragraph down. So yes, it is supposed to be a Trump quote: www.cnn.com/.../
And you say that as if a detective can't acknowledge a serial killer as genius or clever. Diluting a person's words down to "he said good words like 'genius' and 'smart'" rather than something akin to "he's saying 'we're dealing with a truly clever adversary, here'" is outright deceitful and disingenuous.
@crmoore Uhh what you are doing is deceitful and disingenuous. You can not look at the full quote I gave from Trump and not say that Trump wasn't praising Putin, he didn't even say a single bad word about Putin, the invasion or anything, it was just compliments and compliments. To use your serial killer example (which yes of course you can admire your adversaries intelligence etc, but that's not even what's happening). It be more similar to this. "So I saw Mr murder killing someone, and I thought.. hey that's wonderful.. here he is just murdering.. doing what he thinks is right... the way he did it too, was genius!.. he's really smart.. I know him well.. he's savvy very savvy... oh and wanna know what is sad, that Person nr 487 didn't say anything about this.. sad."
Cue the irony.. being more sad about that, than the people being killed and not say anything but something positive about the killer, which of course shows that He even didn't condemn it at all. So trying to downplay the madness of Trump is.. yeah deceitful and disingenuous. Even your shift blaming is as well. Hell your whole narrative is.
@Malgaran Absolutely not, where in the quote that you made did Trump say anything along the lines of "here he is just murdering.. doing what he thinks is right." And you say "Trump only complimented him" but use only that quote, but disregard Trump calling it a travesty, or disregard Trump saying "this deadly Ukraine situation would never have happened" if he were in office.
Do you mean to tell me Donald Trump thinks this invasion is "deadly" as well as good and admirable, AND if he were president he would stop this thing that he considers good and admirable? What sense does that make?
In fairness, I’m the complete context, he said all that stuff and wrapped it up with “Never would have happened if I was there”, the painfully obvious and feeble spin he wants to put on this. He wasn’t saying he was pulling for Russia, he was just doing what conservative media does for him too, making sure the overall narrative is “Biden can’t do anything right.” Whether that’s fact, fiction, or anywhere in between, I PROMISE YOU, no matter what happens, FoxNews’ writers are hard at work every single day taking every action and inaction —of the world, not just Biden— and spinning it into “welp, Biden screwed it up AGAIN.” It doesn’t matter if it’s truth or not, that’s their desired angle.
As far as Trump goes personally, I actually think he sees Russia as a place he wants America to be like: militaristic, nationalistic, authoritarian. Honestly, the general tenor I get from most American conservatives is that they want extreme law & order, but the contingency is that the existing laws must accommodate what THEY want to do, and heavily persecute anyone who is not like them, and a police force who will bust heads to send a message. They don’t seem to have a problem with that kind of model, they just want to make sure it’s specially tailored to protect them and doesn’t target them.
Maybe there's something we don't know, all this situation seems sketchy to me. President Ukrainian nearly guilt tripping the UE to enter Ukrainian in the UE (there's more important stuff right now than that).
The tv is working while when NATO was in Serbia the first things they did was destroying all Tv and such (like this no infos can be given).
They said 13 Ukrainian soldier were bombarded and the president was saying they were war hero while since yesterday we know that's it's false they have been made prisoner of war.
Etc...
Seem like there's something the West is hiding us..
I don’t like trump and I hate what Putin is doing but I’m not sure if Trump calling him savvy was necessarily agreeing with what Putin is doing or not. Trump is an old man that rambles and doesn’t think before he talks. I really don’t see a lot of people of any part agreeing with Putin. Maybe a few but I think for the most part this issue seems to not be politically divided.
I'm not coming here from a place of combativeness, as you clearly are skeptical of the poster's stance (I figured dropping a quote could be interpreted that way). But here is what Trump actually said:
"The problem is not that Putin is smart, which, of course, he's smart. The problem is that our leaders are dumb... and so far, allowed him to get away with this travesty and assault on humanity."

I can call Hitler a brilliant orator without endorsing his beliefs or values.
Because put in has had all of this planned for years. He figured out a way to possibly recreate the soviet union without having to submit to the rest of the world.
I'm not saying what he's doing is a good thing but the way he went about his plans has been very clever. Everyone on the world stage has limited options on how to deal with Russia and he as a single country kind of holds all the power. Especially since he's probably got China backing him.
So yea, people are calling him a genius because in about 5 years he went from a country that didn't really have much going for it and turned it into an entity that's in a frighteningly good position to take over the entire world and did it without anyone really blowing the whistle on him.
He has spies all over, including in high places in America. He made it so he could be president of Russia probably for life.
Have you ever seen this guy on camera before? He NEVER gets nervous. He always looks like everyone around him is just so out of touch with how big he's thinking that it's funny to him to think that other people believe they could stop him.
I'm not a fan of what he's all about but he is an amazing person. Probably one of the brightest minds in humanity, this is just an example of one of the times someone like that ended up on the evil side of history.
It seems you are missing a huge problem with Putin's 'clever' plan--he will destroy Russia's economy and he will become a war criminal and be held accountable. Plan failed.
Putin isn't affected by sanctions. He is separated from global banking which means he is the only world power who's money isn't controlled by America. He currently has (probably) the largest reserve of gold in the world to back his money with.
The Ukraine has everything Russia needs to be self sufficient. He's not really any more of a war criminal than other entities who aren't held accountable and his plan is probably to take over all of Europe so I'd say its totally irrelevant to him.
Held accountable? I hope so, I truly do. But he's a very smart man. He has nukes, an effectively unlimited supply of money, land, extremely rugged military equipment and again, it's very likely that China will be joining him. The Chinese military is very comparable to the American military at its peak, which it is not right now. China and Russia have a very, very good chance at taking over the world.
Again, you are not informed. The world is closing off Russia. Yes, they will feel the wrath just like North Korea and Iran. It will be pitiful for the poor people of Russia to suffer because of a Trump-like insane leader as Putin.
How is putin like Trump? Also like I said, he doesn't care if he's being cut off. Russia doesn't really rely on anything from the outside world that China can't provide for them.
I think you're just under informed. How long have you been following this?
I want to answer your question and I will never open my mouth unless I can find out every single person that has said that before I leave you with the honest and brutal truth how I feel. I'm not sure if it and what was said by the people you are speaking of. It's not a reputable or democrat that should say anything like that. What and from who did you hear or see that? I am not arguing about it but I was hoping you could take me to make sure it was before I leave the answer to anyone in the leadership of our country and how I feel. I'm willing to go to war to defend our country and a serious thimg to do.
For the people trying to suggest that the sanitised version is what Trump really thought.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/gNxvSxaGeDE"i said this is genius putin declares a big portion of the ukraine of ukraine putin declares it as independent oh that's wonderful so putin is now saying it's independent a large section of ukraine i said how smart is that and he's going to go in and be a peacekeeper that's the strongest peace force we could use that on our southern border that's the strongest peace force i've ever seen there were more army tanks than i've ever seen they're going to keep peace all right"
Let it be known that the "sanitized" version he's referring to was from CNN (likely unbeknown to him). But it was said by me, a known right-winger, so he felt as though it must be right-wing propaganda.
I'd also like to point out, as I've said in multiple other places, it's not wrong for a detective to regard a serial killer he's been following as clever or ingenious. Acknowledging traits of an adversary is not siding with the adversary.
And let it be known that @goaded apparently has an issue with deciphering sarcasm. He thinks Trump is speaking literally when Trump refers to Putin's invasion with tanks as "peacekeeping."
But never mind Trump saying (in the initial discussion Goaded mentioned, before the backlash and "santized" version) "but here's a guy who's very savvy, I know him very well, very very well, by the way, first never would have happened with us." (Link, 0:59 : https://youtu.be/zmlZjLDZg4I )
This means that if Trump WAS being literal and genuine with his remarks like @goaded is trying to make it seem, Trump would be saying this genius, peaceful move would never have happened with him in office. According to @goaded, Trump is explicitly and publicly saying he would prevent peace from happening. Because apparently that's a reasonable take.
But no, in actuality, Trump is being facetious and sarcastic. He is not saying it's peaceful, he's saying it's bad and that he wouldn't have let that happen.
@crmoore Oh for God's sake, it was obvious even Trump knew Putin was lying when he said peace-keeping, everybody did. The difference from most people is that Trump thought it was a great idea. It matches up with Trump's approach of doing bad things then moving on before he can be held accountable. You're just failing to defend the indefensible.
Okay, that's tangential and doesn't refute the point that Trump is explicitly expressing opposition to Putin's actions.
You stated that Trump thinks Putin's actions were good ideas. I stated that Trump expressed opposition to those actions (implying he does not think they were good). Then you responded that Trump doesn't actually have the ability to stop him, rather than refuting the notion that Trump is in opposition to Putin's actions.
Should I interpret this as you conceding to the point that Trump opposes Putin's actions, and that he is not in support of them? Or would you like to refute that point now?
Because Trump called him genius and Russia is an authoritarian hell hole that likes to force propaganda down the throats of their civilians.
Now let me ask YOU if what Trump said was truly supportive, why are they only showing the "genius" part and not the "travesty" part or the "this wouldn't be happening If I were president" part?
The answer is because Russian state media isn't showing their citizens the truth, they're showing a twisted, warped perspective of what Trump said.
@crmoore Don't you think an ex-president should be self-aware enough not to hand their country's opponents who are attacking their country's allies such a propaganda win? Or mature enough not to act like their opponents are mentally or physically disabled like he's a badly brought-up primary school child from the 1970s? Or realise that basically all bleaches that kill viruses kill lots of other things, like, say, people?
Haven't you realised yet that he always leaves himself a get-out clause like saying "peacefully" (once) on Jan 6th, while the overall message is disgusting? Vaccines are wonderful, but freedom! They were marching with Nazis, but they were very fine people!
Yes, I do (although I wouldn't fault someone for someone else misrepresenting them, that's like blaming a rape victim for being raped). Trump is very careless with his words. He's very childish in many ways and I wish he wasn't. I've never been of the opinion he is an exceptional individual in this regard, quite the contrary.
And he never used the term "bleach" he said "disinfectant," so your remark about "almost all bleaches kill pots of other things" doesn't apply.
And I don't agree with your remark about him being sinister and leaving an ounce of doubt. I think that's your flawed perspective.
And and there's literally nothing wrong with the statement "vaccines are wonderful, but freedom!"
And the people who he said were very fine people were not marching along Nazi's. If Nazi's show up to a town meeting about which ice cream shop to erect, it doesn't make the people nazis if they happened to agree with the ice cream shop that the nazis wanted.
Enrique Entario (as one of countless examea), a black man, showed up at that rally opposing the vote-less removal of public statues. Do you mean to tell me this man is a white supremacist nazi?
@crmoore "like blaming a rape victim" Yay! Victim complex.
Almost all disinfectants kill lots of other things, too. You certainly wouldn't want to inject them. Just admit he didn't know what the hell the scientists had been telling him, it's so obvious.
When did I say "sinister"?
"And and there's literally nothing wrong with the statement "vaccines are wonderful, but freedom!""
Yeah, there is, when your "freedom" affects my chances of surviving. See, for example, speed limits.
"And the people who he said were very fine people were not marching along Nazi's."
Yes, they were. If there are people on my side of a protest that are holding swastikas, I'm either on the wrong side of the protest, or the protest should be against the Nazis, forget the original reason.

Turns out that anti-Semitism can override racial prejudices.
Yes, it is like blaming a rape victim, it's not a victim complex it is literally blaming the victim. If someone misrepresents someone else, it would be victim-blaming to blame the person who was misrepresented.
But to be clear I'm not asserting they're victims to the same extent. I think your "victim complex" remark blows this out of proportion. I wasn't saying "Trump can be accurately described as a victim in this scenario" I was saying that blaming someone for someone else misrepresenting them is conceptually the same as blaming a rape victim for being raped. The rape victim didn't choose to be raped, thus, claiming they're at fault is unreasonable.
"Just admit, he didn't know what the hell the scientists were telling him." Firstly, I've never claimed Trump is knowledgeable about science or medicine. Secondly, his remark wasn't about what "the scientists were telling him." He wasn't trying to reference things they have said but he then failed to do so, he made a suggestion about something he seemingly came up with on his own. So "admit he didn't know what the hell the scientists were telling him" doesn't apply. Lastly, his remark (as I think I've already told you in the past) was already a medical procedure being practiced, AND it was actively being looked into a treatment for covid at that time. It's called H202 Nebulization Therapy, where a mist containing Hydrogen Peroxide would be injected into the lungs. So while I'm not saying Trump is a genius, the people criticizing him are biased and medically ignorant.
And I didn't say that you said sinister, I used that word myself to describe the thing you're referring to. Do you consider "sinister" to be an inaccurate representation of someone (allegedly) supporting invasions/warfare?
And the only reason you're supporting governmentally forcing people to inject substances into their bodies that they didn't consent to is because you happen to agree with what they're forcing into your bodies. If the government was controlled by someone you didn't like, and injecting something into your body you didn't trust, you'd be saying this is absolutely horrible and despicable.
I assume back when the US government was secretly performing hysterectomies on native American women, you'd have said "this is horrible. Those women have a right to their own body, the government can't make them do that." Or back when the US was indirectly making gay practices illegal (like banning sodomy). While the US was clearly wrong in these instances, they thought they were doing what's best. Does that make it justified? Since the government thought they were doing what is right, it's okay to have performed those hysterectomies? It was okay to disincentivize, and in some cases arrest people for partaking in anal sex?
And if you're scared of dying if you leave your house, then stay in your house. The answer isn't "forcefully inject people with substances they didn't consent to." A long time ago when government was comrpised of mostly Christians, if they found a substance that when injected into people it would lessen people's ability to deny atheism or other things, would you be in support of them using it? I assume not. The issue isn't "the vaccine is good." The issue is "does government have the right to forcefully inject you with things when they think they're right?" And the answer is no.
Not to mention, nearly everyone who is dying from covid has other medical issues. The world quite frankly is operating more or less as normal right now wothout mandated vaccination and I'm entirely certain you've left your house countless times.
And alright, so, in my ice cream example, if one side wanted a Baskin Robin's and the other side wanted Ben and Jerry's, and if Nazi's showed up with swastikas and were advocating for the Baskin Robin's, then those who were also advocating for Baskin Robin's were on the wrong side, according to you?
And I'm not sure what you mean to convey with those pictures and that last remark.
@crmoore It's an interesting pattern that people who respond to a couple of sentences with hundreds of words aren't all that all that confident in their arguments.
So in your opinion, a president should neither understand what his advisors are telling him, nor avoid undermining them. Great.
Then we get on to the bullshit idea that people are being forcibly injected (they're not) and that healthy people aren't dying of covid (they are). There are still thousands dying every day from this pandemic, and most of them are unvaccinated, But somehow, the people who chose not to protect their neighbours should be allowed to wander free, and the ones who do should be locked up.
Based on what are you claiming I'm not confident in my argument? And if you're expecting things to be explained in a couple of sentences, then political discussion isn't for you.
And I don't know where you could have gotten "a president should neither understand what his advisors are telling him, nor avoid undermining them." I haven't said or indicated that. It seems like you're saying random things that are vaguely related to the topic. But if you'd like to point out where you think I indicated such, that'd be very helpful.
And if "the vaccine is great, but freedom!" is a stance you oppose, aside from mandatory vaccination, how could someone interpret your opposition to that statement? Because you now are stating "people being forcefully injected is bullshit," but that's what mandatory vaccination is. So, do you support mandatory vaccination or not? And if you do, how do you mandate someone get vaccinated without forcing them to get vaccinated?
And you're either being deceitful or you're misreading. You say "and that healthy people aren't dying of covid (they are)." I didn't say healthy people aren't dying or covid, I said nearly everyone who is dying from covid is dying due to co-morbidities, which is true.
And a neighbor has no obligation to protect someone else. And I don't know what you mean by locking people up who get the vaccine. That's the first I've heard of that.
I'd also like to point out you failed to address many things in my last response. I'll take it that you're conceding on the following points:
1. Trump not being at fault for Russia misrepresenting him.
2. Trump's suggestiong about injection actually was valid.
3. Government forcing people to do things with their bodies is wrong.
4. Nazi's showing up doesn't make everyone else a nazi.
(Let alone the numerous other topics we've strayed away from).
@crmoore Well done on keeping to a single message this time!
Every time you defend Trump from consequences from what he's said you indicate that he shouldn't be expected to understand the effect of what he's saying, when half the time he clearly knows (like the saying people marching with Nazis were fine), and the other half he's clearly clueless (injecting disinfectant because it kills the virus in seconds on surfaces).
The point about "the vaccine is great, but freedom!" was that the "but freedom" was his get out of jail free clause, like saying "peacefully" once on Jan 6th and his mild condemnation of a group that included someone who ran down dozens of people with their car.
And you're here to amplify the get out of jail free clauses and ignore the obvious facts that he didn't want people to be peaceful on Jan 6th, he's not being misrepresented by Russia, he was clueless about covid treatments (he was corrected on the spot), he only said "freedom" as a way to avoid being booed by his dumbest supporters and yes, marching with Nazis makes you a Nazi.
Anyway, I'm off for a couple of days, have fun defending the indefensible.
You're misrepresenting it. People weren't "marching with Nazis," Nazis showed up to protest something normal people were already protesting. So when Trump says "there were very fine people on both sides" he's not saying "it's fine to March with Nazis." If what you're saying is true, which it's not, you're saying that he said that both sides marched with Nazis. Which clearly doesn't make any sense.
What is so "get out of jail free" about "but freedom?" It seems like you're segmenting his sentences as if they're dissectable. When he says "protest peacefully" you can't be like "well he only added peacefully on at the end to save ass." Like, no, that's a fundamental, integral part of the sentence. The sentence doesn't apply without that. Same goes for "but freedom." It's not this modular thing he added to the end, it's the essence of the sentence.
And you're honestly incredibly biased or delusional if you think it's an "obvious fact" he wantes people to be violent, or that he's not being misrepresented by Russia. As I've already said, he literally said "this wouldn't be happening If I was president." If Russia only shows people the "genius" part and not the "I wouldn't be letting Putin do this part" then he is objectively being misrepresented. That's not even debatable, THAT'S obvious. I'd like you to point out what is "obvious" (and not speculation) about his speech that shows he supposedly wantes violence.
@goaded No, I do not think that. You're not reading/following what I'm saying. You said "every time you defend Trump from consequences from what he's said you indicate that he shouldn't be expected to understand the effect of what he's saying, when half the time he clearly knows (like the saying people marching with Nazis were fine)" and what Trump said is "there were very fine people on both sides." So since Trump referred to both sides of the protest as "fine" and you're saying "fine" means "marching with Nazis," then by your logic, both sides were marching with Nazis since Trump said both sides were "fine." You're having difficulty understanding this because it quite literally doesn't make sense. The argument you're adopting is fundamentally illogical.
The fact of the matter is you're incorrect and Trump was not saying marching with Nazis is fine. He was saying there were very fine people on both sides, not including the Nazis (which he later explicitly clarified, even though any logical person wouldn't need that clarification to understand his words, like they weren't cryptic or anything lol).
Better question, why is the left trying to shit on him for it?
It's propaganda, the media and tribe will take any opportunity to misframe something no matter how small to make Trump look bad.
Putin being wrong and bad doesn't mean he's not smart. That's what makes him dangerous -- in combination with our establishment politicians being dumb. But of course the media will take Trump talking about how challenging an opponent Putin is and somehow turn into a story about Trump and Putin are in bed together. How many times to do the media have to blatantly lie to people's faces before they see it? The most recent big one was the truckers, wasn't that enough to see the establishment is completely full of shit?
Because Trump and Putin want what's best for the world, in their own crazy eyes. Republicans don't think for themselves they just cheer for the winning team.
They want to make Russia and the USA the most important.
It's incredibly fucked up
How do you feel about the fact that you say "Republicans don't think for themselves" while also rationalizing this post, indirectly implying what it says is truthful, while what Trump actually said was "the problem is not that Putin is smart, which, of course, he's smart. The problem is that our leaders are dumb... and so far, allowed him to get away with this travesty and assault on humanity."
Does that sound he's praising Putin? Does is sounds like him and Republicans are cheering for him (let alone think he's winning)?
You know you're being hypocritical, right? You're not thinking for yourself, you just assumed this person is right because they are on your side of the political aisle.
@crmoore @crmoore " i said this is genius putin declares a big portion of the ukraine of ukraine putin declares it as independent oh that's wonderful so putin is now saying it's independent a large section of ukraine i said how smart is that and he's going to go in and be a peacekeeper that's the strongest peace force we could use that on our southern border that's the strongest peace force i've ever seen there were more army tanks than i've ever seen they're going to keep peace all right "
But you stick with the sanitised version.

Actually, I just went with the CNN version, it's the third paragraph down: www.cnn.com/.../
@4eyes2mouths Is there something I can clarify?
It’s important to understand the difference between praising and condoning. In Jurassic park, the man says “clever girl” to the raptor that outsmarted him. Is he glad to be eaten? No. Trump said if he were president, he’d have stopped all of this. But “clever girl” is just to say clever girl. Not “you go girl”
@DrHonesty that’s because it’s that kind of attitude that pushes topics into emotional responses instead of logical ones. You’re not doing yourself any favors talking down like that
They are sucking his dick. Anyone can see that Putin is smart.
But obviously he miscalculated, which is why we are on the brink of nuclear war. He didn't think Ukraine would kick the crap out of the Russian army. And he thought Trump had sufficiently damaged America's relationship with Europe.
Because he is Smart and Genius. Master strategist on the level of Lenin and Stalin. 40-50 years in KGB qualifies for SMART.
-Aligning with China (you can have Asia…I want Europe…Deal, and here’s North Korea as good faith offering): SMART.
-those two creating their own currency with the end game being USD collapse:SMART.
-appeasing the Old Soviet Guard:SMART.
Must I go on….
Russia is on the point of collabs currently wtf are you smoking? Putin is completely retardet.
@Hdjdbsuxbsusbshy don’t spout off at me, you Child.
Show me your evidence⁉️. I’ve been there. The public’s expectations and standards have been extremely low since 1970s…. The public is conditioned to go without.
They simply kill Rebellion/Dissidents and both Christians and Muslims are considered Rebellious too.
Go travel and study Soviet Union….
I could be wrong about this, but my understanding is that Trump said that specifically about the provinces Luhansk and Donetsk. Everybody was expecting Putin to take those, and this was honestly the right time to take them. He was able to do that with relatively little conflict. Nobody was expecting Putin to try to take the rest of the country though. I don't think that move made sense to anyone.
I don't believe that's the point Trump was trying to make. he basically said he wasn't an idiot and that he (Trump) had good relationships with the scumbag dictators - the keep your enemies close thing. he was calling Biden an idiot for not keeping good relationships Putin. I'm not a Trumper but I think your taking things out of context and generalizing conservative thinking.
why does everyone ignore that america does the same fucking bullshit all the time? invading random nations in order to "help" them and leaving them more fucked than they were before. i mean the iraq debacle isn't that long ago. how did everyone already forget?
Show Peace through Strength.
Not here’s an oil pipeline when you already own 60% of Oil.
The simple fact of knowing who he is and respecting that on an entirely different level seems to go past you because why didn’t he attack under Trump? Why do you think he didn’t?
You’d rather have someone who is formidable think you’re praising him.
Besides, once again the whole Trump thing is a sideshow. Masking their real agenda.
Because he is. He's rolling over the Ukraine and no one will lift a finger to stop him that aren't Ukrainian themselves. Joe Biden can spew all the insults he likes at Putin, but insults will not save the Ukraine anymore than praise will hasten its defeat. Biden greatly underestimated Putin, and now Putin is walking all over him. Maybe Biden should have called Putin smart, too.
They get billions in aid while Russia is on the verge of collabse. Putin is done.
Trump is a garbage human being that enjoys the suffering of innocent human beings. Putin and him get along great because both are human waste.
Because Trump spits out diarrhea and you believe his every word.
Firstly, that doesn't answer my question. You're being childish and trying to derail.
Secondly, according to what? Everyone seems to think that if you call people, or the media, out on their bullshit, you must be sucking up to Trump. That's not the case, if you're really determined, you can go through my posts and comments and seen that I've expressed my discontent with Trump on a many occasions. He's not a god to me or hardly anyone.
Now that we've got that out of the way, how about you actually answer the question?
Then why are you responding like I have something for you? It’s like your here to defend Trump and his pedophilia with Jeffery Epstein.
I would not call him smart because of all the economical dmg he will have to face after.
True. Russia will take decades to recover from this action. Putin will need to be removed so I hope his people stand up against Putin and throw him out.
Yes agree, totally insane.
its just more trump bullshit...
its a power hungry narcissist patting the back of another narcissistic ass and 47% of the US for some reason thinks that’s ok
Simple. A person making evil decisions doesn't mean that the decisions made aren't strategically or tactically effective or beneficial to their ultimate aim. This applies to political, military, and economic situations. It doesn't mean that the decisions can't be or aren't planned and executed with calculus, patience, discipline, cunning, or focus.
The bottom line is that intelligence doesn't necessarily result in good moral or ethical conduct, outlook, or decision making.
Oh yes, and this is very important, looking at someone's intended end state and acknowledging the effectiveness of the decisions made in order to achieve that end state is NOT a show of support or approval.
Trump may like the planning but is not stating it should have never been done. There is a HUGE difference. Where is Trumps standing up for American values that a nation should be free of tyranny? Wow you missed the whole point.
When did Trump say he liked the planning? Or when did I say he did? Saying "this is a smart move" is, again, like I said in my follow-up comment, not a show of support or approval.
peaceful?
It's amazing all who have no idea what's really going on and speak their mind as if they do.
Do you know why the right calls people like you NPCs? It's because you take what the people you don't like say way too literally a lot like AI does. Satire, sarcasm, context, teasing all go out the window with leftists who have nothing to smear but words alone.
Why are you asking "why"? Isn't the answer obvious? Trump's an idiot, and a traitor to boot. So is any politician who supports him.
@goaded
Actually, I just went with the CNN version, it's the third paragraph down: www.cnn.com/.../
I have to add this - it's sickening enough to hear what Trump has to say about anything at all, but what's worse is the airtime it gets. He "could" be made irrelevant quite easily, but no "leader" in the Republican party has the guts to do it, only Cheney and Kinzinger. Notice how quiet the ass licking Susan Collins has been, supposedly representing Mainers.
You're mistaken. He mocked the person, but not for his disability. Trump, while exceedingly childish and off-putting, mocks people like this in general, whether disabled or able-bodied.
Assuming you're not a person of bias (and thus willing to at least look at contrary evidence) here's a very short video (but if you're busy or impatient, you can go to the timestamp 0:54), where he does precisely the same thing while mocking Ted Cruz (a non-disabled person): https://youtu.be/-eoyfu2BsQs
The video shows him mocking, in precisely the same way, numerous people, all of which (to my knowledge) don't have a physical disability (let alone a mental one).
Trump gave a speech yesterday. He explained his comment. He explained the Putin was smart to make his move now after witnessing the total failure of the Biden Administration in Afghanistan and how Biden's anti-American energy policies have further enabled Putin's agenda.
He further expressed his dislike for the situation and commented on how it never should have happened.
I see. So Trump is trying to take credit for being out of office. hahaha Putin will suffer under Biden and the world's sanctions. Trump would have done nothing except praise the move. Wow.
Putin is laughing at the sanctions. Biden just imposed sanctions that will not cause much harm. If he wanted to really put the boots to Putin he would get the US to stat producing oil and natural gas again and sell it to NATO allies like Germany to cut off Putin's money supply. Biden has already been bought and paid for by Russia so there really is not much Biden will do.
Because from a strategic standpoint he is smart.
He knows that nobody is gonna stop him, and clearly he is correct. The only people with the balls to fight back is the people he is attacking.
Sanctions aren’t doing shit
I have no idea. trump is a disreputable fool, I don't know why anyone gives him the time of day anymore.
Trump is orange faced clown that lies, cheats about everything in his life. He has total idiots that follow him.
Can you give me an example?
You can call evil people smart or crafty. That sure as hell doesn’t mean you like them and support what they are doing.
You REALLY need to let that guy go. The great and terrible Orange Man is just another citizen now. He can't hurt you anymore.
I don't know if you follow politics at all, but the real question is why can't right wingers let him go? He's still viewed by them as the de facto head of the Republican party, almost every Republican candidate still fights for his endorsement by showing who is the most loyal Trumper, Kevin McCarthy who sadly might become speaker if the Republicans retake control of the house still punishes anyone who dares to disagree with Trump or speak contrary to anything Trump says, he is still the main event at CPAC and other right wing conventions and he is constantly teasing another run for the presidency in 2024 which unbelievably more than a few people would welcome. He is still a former president and his comments make news as they would by any former president though all the others both Democratic and Republican seem to understand the impact of their words and refrain from making any insanely stupid remarks unlike Trump.
I feel confident we would be happy to let him go if the right wing would let him go, if loyal Trumpers would let him go and if he retired from politics to his compound in Florida and kept his fucking mouth shut. If that sounds like something you can make happen, we on the left, would be more than thrilled to "let him go".
That crazy orange man is the only former president to endorse Putin's actions. Really? It shows how out of step he is with normal Americans and the world. Praising a dictator for invasion? It goes totally against America's values. So glad he is not and will never be president again.
Trump does it because he like Putin, and the other people do it because Trump does it.
Calling Putin smart, doesn't mean that he does good things. He's about 1000 times smarter than Biden.
This must be ugly ass using Anon. He also said he was for Ukraine and he also said this would not have happened if he was allowed to be in office he won last election. He also pointed put Biden invaded other countries only when Obama and Biden were Presidents. All of these statement 100% true.
Too funny. Trump would have allowed it and praise him. Do you not understand what he is saying now. It is ok to invade a peaceful country. Wow. Trump just cowed to Putin and has always been afraid to say anything against him. I just you are one of those idiot supporters that do not know the facts. hahaha
So this is the stupid sexy ass chick , who has an ugly old ass?
Trump is the controlled opposition, a con man and a Pied Piper, he is leading his followers over the abyss and they don't see it.
Trump is still living in your head rent free and loving every minute of it.
Every time he farts you people say his ass gas is radioactive. How funny is that!!
this is a fake news talking point by the left wing media. he did call putin a strategic genius (which he is) but that doesn't mean he endorsed putin or condones what he is doing
his literal next sentence was (sadly biden isn't smart enough to stop him or w/e) so he clearly isn't on putin's side
recognizing the talents of our enemies is mature. it helps us defeat them
No other leader is praising Putin for his 'clever' planning. Trump is clearly still afraid of Putin and has never and will never say anything against Putin.
there are 2 explanations here:
1. no other leader is honest
2. other leaders ARE admitting that putin is a genius but you don't see it as the media only makes a story out of trump
3. trump insulted putin, sold weapons to ukraine, killed russiain soldiers directly in syria... he isn't afraid of putin. but you're afraid, you post anonymously
The Republicunts are known to be messed up in the head.
@crmoore Chump is a Nazi, if you haven't figured that one out yet. His rule's ideology was so similar to the Nazi ideology, that it's obvious he's one of them. "We're white religious sheep and only sheep are worth to live. Everyone else who is not a white sheep like us should suffer in every way imaginable - LGBTQ people, black people, Mexican people, atheists" - that was his ideology and because of it USA was on the verge of a civil war.
Firstly, you're trying to derial the conversation. Why aren't you addressing what I said?
Secondly, you just put quotes around something, then said "that was his ideology." Not "that was his words." So you're either trying to be deceitful and pass on your opinion/perspective as fact, or you're paraphrasing something and you should quote the exact words and include the source. Because quite frankly, you're incorrect.
But to emphasis my first point, if you fail to address the topic in my first response to you, let it be known that you concede that point by default. As an adult, I know you have the ability to address it. If you don't, it was entirely willful and an indication of invalidity on your part.
Because he's smart and a genius.
Specially politically, specially with geopolitics.
Enemies can be smart, same for xi, by the way.
So smart he's tanking Russia's economy, credibility and shows the world their terrible military performance.
@Hdjdbsuxbsusbshy He had no other choice. Well, except keel and die, basically.
Putin is not afraid of being invaded, he's afraid of losing his keys of power and being ousted.
So, he took a gamble, a gamble he took several times.
He took transnistria and abhkazia with bush father, he attacked chechnya lost once and managed to install a pupet state during clinton, same with georgia during bush, nothing happened, he took crimea with obama, nothing happened, he waited out trump, and now he's trying to take donbas with biden.
The only reason anything happened was because his days are ever more numbered.
From bush father to biden, it didn't happen with one guy. God, bush father and clinton got a double. Consequences were nothing.
The picture above is funny, but I can't look at it because it's also incredibly disgusting. Two men kissing on the lips - PFUY!
“Praising” him is a stretch. It’s simply understanding that your opponent has an objective and a goal and yet, Biden can’t even use the bathroom properly.
I love how powerful this question is and how very few trump-tards are responding to it!
he's right in my view...
you have to listen to the rest of what he said.
be careful what media you watch as things get biased and twisted on both sides. our media is junk food for the brain.
Ummm all other normal world leaders are not praising Putin. What is there to misunderstand? All other US presidents condemned the invasion. Trump is alone in his insane statements.
being smart doesn't mean someone is kind
brain and heart is actually the opposite
but you accept the current dictator we have in office because he claims to be a Democrat. This political hypocrisy keeps me young by making me laugh so damn hard every day, so thank you.
NO Republican has EVER said that, no wonder You hide behind "Anonymous"
Don’t know. He’s an idiot wasting money. As bush did in Iraq.
Where are they saying that? I've yet to see that once.
Wait you mean the quote "The problem is not that Putin is smart, which, of course, he's smart. The problem is that our leaders are dumb... and so far, allowed him to get away with this travesty and assault on humanity."
You call that praise? Acknowledging that your enemy is smart is praise? Praise while also regarding their actions as a travesty?
What is with you people and your love for propaganda? Do you seriously value power over truth and honesty?
It took a long, grueling two minutes.
Unsurprisingly that's after the massive outcry about his original comments.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNxvSxaGeDE
Does a detective who regards a serial killer he's been following as clever or ingenious mean that he is siding with the serial killer? His original comments aren't condemnable. You may disagree but for someone to say "you can't regard bad people are genius or smart" is just silly, childish, pedantic, and narrow-minded.
I agree it is fiendish, and I'm not familiar with military strategy, nor familiar with exactly what Trump was referring to, so I can't definitively state genius is an accurate or inaccurate description (I suppose it's also opinion). But I know that someone can have that opinion and it not being support. And I disagree. Criticizing your own president, as nearly everyone is doing, is justified and a hallmark of this country.
Putin was smart, because he waited till we had a weak and pathetic man as President.
Remove weak and pathetic with someone who wouldn't use a nuke over his steak being cooked wrong.
Our true enemies are the Beast System WAR-MONGERS.
The best thing we could do for our literal survival, is to stay OUT of Russia's business.
Russia is the war monger.
Smart and good aren't the same thing
they're a cult of evil idiots.

Everyone has been "bashing us," few people are happy with the Biden administration. So that's not an indication he's siding with Putin. And I asked you "what about this context means Trump is siding with Putin" to which you respond with "he's bashing us and he's siding with Putin." You can't use "he's siding with Putin" as an explanation as to how someone is "siding with Putin." That's like explaining a banana as "a banana." You didn't explain anything.
You mean the Russian bounty hoax?
abcnews.go.com/.../story?id=71694167
www.msn.com/.../ar-BB1fGUwy
news.yahoo.com/...story-falls-apart-192123174.html
there was no real investigation... as one might've expected: www.nytimes.com/.../russian-bounties-nsc.html
Stop trying to avoid things and derail the conversation.
Most recently, you asserted I trust the words of the enemy, but I referenced out pentagon. Be the adult that you are and take responsibility for your words. Admit that you were wrong and quit it with these childish antics.
Secondly, address the fact that you asserted he trusted the enemy, when in fact it was out intelligence, the pentagon.
@crmoore No, you're talking about the unproven bounty claim, he was obviously talking about the Russian interference in Trump's election which was known before and after the election. That's what @Sabretooth was talking about, and also what proves you're part of the cult of evil idiots.
@goaded Yes, I am. And I literally asked him if that's what he was referring to.
I asked him how this context suggests Trump is siding with Putin. He responded he "once again, sided with putin" (which doesn't explain anything). I mentioned how trust doesn't answer my question or explain anything, to which he responded "look at his history. He literally chose Putin over our intelligence!" To which I responded "you mean the Russian bounty hoax?" To which he responded could hare this counter as well."
If he was referring to this election thing, he would have said "no, I'm not referring to the Russian bounty hoax, I'm referring to *this election thing*".
And you claiming "it's obvious he was referring to Russian interference in Trump's election" is just silly because all he said was "he literally chose putin over our intelligence." That's not obvious, that's ambiguous and indistinct. My assumption about the Russian bounty hoax (which he didn't deny) applies just as much as your election thing.
And @Sabretooth, you're just saying random things. I know precisely the point I'm making, you tried to assert that Trump trusted putin over our intelligence when it was our intelligence discrediting the bounty hoax. That's my point. There's nothing uncertain about my point. (As well as your inability to stay on-track and address any sort of refutation whatsoever)
They don’t know. They are so confused right now.
I know you want to post links.
Bro, did you actually listened to what he said or did you just read the clickbait headline?
Trump never condemned the invasion. Praising the planning of the invasion is one thing but standing up against Putin for a nation's freedom is what is glaringly missing. Enough said. Trump is terribly afraid of Putin.
He never condemned the invasion? He literally called it a travesty.
"The problem is not that Putin is smart, which, of course, he's smart. The problem is that our leaders are dumb... and so far, allowed him to get away with this travesty and assault on humanity."
If you actually provided the context that your very post regards, you'd know that.
@crmoore Context: " i said this is genius putin declares a big portion of the ukraine of ukraine putin declares it as independent oh that's wonderful so putin is now saying it's independent a large section of ukraine i said how smart is that and he's going to go in and be a peacekeeper that's the strongest peace force we could use that on our southern border that's the strongest peace force i've ever seen there were more army tanks than i've ever seen they're going to keep peace all right "
But you stick with the sanitised version.
