Russia has wanted Ukraine since the collapse of the Soviet Union. And, boy oh boy, have they been trying. 2014 and the coup d'etat in Crimea was just the most jarring attempt to date that reminded the world.

Y'all can arm them, sure. But troops on the ground is just cause for another war between Russia and the US, and seeing as their army is conscriptory there rather than voluntary like the US, they have way more soldiers, and they don't have to draft and train them. That's a war you WILL lose, or you'll have to call in allies and start WW3.

There's no good result from kicking off WW3. Especially since WW3 or 4 will be the "world ender"
