In the countries that have gender equality, why do men get a higher salar than women even though they may have the same education, experience/skills?

Possible causes that are talked about: women are weak, gets pregnant and need to stay at home. Women get more days as maternity leave than father's get?

In some countries, a mother and father do share the same amount of parantal leave.

Is it fair or not that men get pays more than women for the same job.

This is for my school essay. Thats why I' m asking about gender equality and more. The work stuff is just an example i chose.

The Nordic countries like Sweden and Denmark are universally considered to be the most "gender equal" countries in the world. And you are correct that there is still a gender pay gap there. But you are not correct that men get paid significantly more than women for the same job and same qualifications. I challenge you to find any credible evidence to support that claim.

Well i tried to ask people about that and they said there is a gap between men and women salary. And the only explaination they gave me is "woman get pregnant and get parental leave after.. blah blah blah. And some complained that women do/would get less salary than men just because of their gender even if they had higher salary. For example, i tried to randomly search about Jobs that pay men more than women for the same education and I got " lawyer".

Firstly, there is a ton of misinformation and disinformation on the internet about this stuff, and you shouldn't take your information from people's opinions on the subject because there is a lot of bias. And you also shouldn't use biased sources such as feminist organizations. Try to find unbiased ones like the PayScale one I linked above.

The whole concept of 'wage gap' is based on comparing all salaries of all men to all salaries of all women. It doesn't take into account career choices, hours worked, etc.

And how could you possibly compare salaries between two individuals who led unique lives and experiences? You and I apply for the same job. But you have 15 years experience doing the job but I'm fresh out of college. Should I be paid the same as you? Does your experience count for nothing? Maybe I'm a better negotiator, they offered you 100,000 and me 100,000. I said that due to my experience and the work I bring, I should get $110,000. The company agrees. How is that "unfair"? Maybe you have skill XYZ for the job but also have skill ABC that the company may feel the need to utilize skill ABC in the future, so they offer you more to attract you to the job over me.

There are different variables that factor into this. Education is just a basics. 2 people regardless of gender dont share the same experiences and skills. There are thing that you have gone through and know that other have not. Performance, how well are you able to do your job. Attendance, how often do you take leaves. Hours worked, do you do overtime or come in early. Attitudes and behaviours. Communication skills. Are you able to negotiate contracts or ask for raises. Versatile, are you able to work in different areas and learn new things. Leadership qualities. Loyalty, come companies offer raises every year or so. so if you worked at a place for a number of years over your other counterparts then pay will vary. There are lots of factors that play in to pay gaps and its not a gender thing also. 2 men can work the same job but get paid differently because of these characteristics. Some characteristics are show more in certain individuals

For exempel men are more brave and direct when it comes to asking for a raise. But women are nicer when they ask for a raise, which cause them to bot be feared and don't get raise often. It can be caused vy biological different skills or society norms.

It can be a cultural thing as well. For example
I worked in one department where it was majority females. I was making the same as some and more than other but not all. Why because I came from a different department (versitily and experience) that had a different pay structure. I stayed back and finish up work left behind while the others left (Hours worked). A lot of the women I worked with are mothers and some travel a long distance. Where I am a lot of mothers get the child benefits from the government so if they exceed their income bracket they can lose those benefits. The guys i worked with didn't stay back either (1 was there for over 40 years and didn't have a reason, the other bused to work and the bus timings are less frequent at the time we finished) choices do matter. A lot of the females I worked with didn't have strong communication skills with the leaders. It was a cultural thing as well. I used to be the medium between both parties at time. As for years work it is important but not super. I have only been at my work place for close to 4 years and make more than some that have been there for 8-10 years. Too many factors so many personal qualities to look into that it is easier to blame the system

Usually it's cause men ask for a higher salary than women when they get hired. They were a huge fight in a company I worked in cause a guy earned much more money than everyone else (and for the simple reason that he asked for a bigger salary than his coworker did).
As for other reasons I don't know. I was the one doing the salary and all and I did notice the difference but I don't have any idea for it except the things where the guy would ask for a bigger salary.
