Seems to me the Russian military suffers from the same thing the now defunct Afghan Military suffered from only last year. To highlight that specifically
1. There was a great deal of corruption among the military and political leadership. This meant that vast resources were never put where they needed to go. Instead, many of the leadership enriched themselves by selling weapons on the black market, skimming off the funds, and making backroom deals. I have no doubt this is happening in the Russian government and military
2. There was a massive morale collapse due to a lack of resources, paychecks, training, etc. Many Afghan soldiers went without pay for months, and when push came to shove they surrendered without a fight. Its clear that the Russian military suffers from something similar to this.
3. The information war is being lost. The Afghans were often forced by their government to fight in situations they had no stomach for. We clearly see this with the Russian military as well

The main difference is that the Russian military is considered the 2nd most powerful military on the planet, while the Afghan Military was relatively weak to begin with.
The fact they have suffered so many losses is simply proof to many of these structural problems.

Poor intelligence feedback due to a fear of questioning decisions at the top of Russia's political system, sent Russian military into that mess.

Raising concerns or highlighting potential flaws in invading Ukraine could be viewed as challenging Putins authority and that is dangerous.

Despite the many issues in Western democracy, one strength is the checks & balances nature of our politics, there is opposition and scrutiny and that is important. We're not mistake free, but people are free to voice concerns or stand in elections.

Because most of the poor souls don’t want to be there. Simply, they don’t want to go, and they face being shot if they try to leave.

The world has become so rotten. People are on social media, cheering at the scenes of these young boys being killed.

Anyway, it’s a relevant question you asked, I’m just so deeply upset at the lack of humanity in this world at the moment. Somebody’s daughter, somebody’s son means nothing anymore. Praying for Ukraine and the innocent Russian soldiers. What an absolute mess.

This is why I can’t celebrate when you see videos of tanks exploding etc. I completely understand why the Ukrainians can, because they are saving themselves from being killed. But I can’t celebrate and I won’t celebrate, because I know so many Russians are literally stuck in a nightmare they can’t get out of. They shouldn’t be there, if they had one wish most of them would be back at home. Really hurts me to think about it.

Morale is low for the Russians. Most of the Russian troops probably don't even want to be in Ukraine, but they have no choice. If they try going back to Russia they'll be shot. On top of that, I heard the Ukrainians are jamming up communications on the Russian side, so the Russian commanders and generals have to step up to the front to find out what's going on. When they do that, Ukrainian snipers kill them. Several Russian generals have already been taken out by snipers.

It's not motivated because the soldiers don't share the leaders visions, it's corrupt so all money goes to the leaders not to equipment. So it's badly equipt. It's top controlled which make it inefficient, because you can't give people power in an authorian regime. They attacked with to few men compared to the enemy. So they bleeding resources fast, instead of winning overwhelming battles quickly.

It's not, the Russians are fighting the war the way they planned it. They're not fighting the same way Americans fight. The Western media is lying about the number of Russian vs Ukrainian casualties. People are talking about sending weapons and military equipment, Western militaries getting involved, WW3 etc. If Russia is taking such a huge ass-whooping, why? No need to get involved, leave it to the Ukrainians who are already easily winning the war - unless that's bullshit.

Russia can keep this up since they have a conscription, that allows to give all males a military specialization. Besides, the Russian doctrine of war doesn't value soldiers lives as Western countries do. The WWII was an example to it.

There are many reasons, but the most prevalent is that, they thought it would be easy so they came with no real contingency plan. Putin thought he was hot shit, but it appears he is just shit.

Outdated/under funded with incompetent leadership. Putin is very isolated and gets told what he wants to hear. Hard to lead without an accurate or realistic perspective.
