Does anyone else get the serious urge to homestead or otherwise live off grid?

I am so sick of the lies, corruption and constant stripping of our buying power.

All the time, it's natural. We derive satisfaction and happiness from creating and producing, and in modern society most don't do anything.
The solution is to do as much as you want/can. It sounds simple, but so many people really do nothing outside of their job which isn't really their work.
Like cooking with mushrooms? Start growing mushrooms (I find this fun and can be grown indoors easier than plants I think), start a garden, instead of consuming create your own solutions, if you have a problem make something to fix it.
The creator has an answer to "What do you do?" other than work.

Yeah I do, I'm a big fan of Alaska: Homestead Rescue. While I don't currently have the option of moving off grid, I am working on becoming less dependent. Growing my own vegetables, generating power etc.

I hear that is a great place to go if the US falls to totalitarianism. The distance from DC, harsh weather, size, terrain and very few drop off points for troops makes it very difficult for the government to touch you.

Don't do it unless you have practical experience in it. Otherwise you're very likely to die in the woods.

I might as well learn. Something tells me I might get thrown into that situation whether I wanted to or not.

I have gone camping a lot during my childhood and had undergone some wilderness survival training where I had to build my own shelter and stay the night in it. That's pretty much it.
