For instance, charging apartment tenants for water when it was always free before. That is basically a rent increase. Or how about bus fares rising, or pizza delivery?

I added a new column to my spreadsheets last year - tax load for each line item entry. Our utilities average about 13.5% taxes, sales tax is nearing 10%, etc. I assign a tax rate to each line item category (my car, her car, food, house maintenance, toiletries, etc.) and right now, we are at about 30% of our total expenses being taxes. This does NOT include our sewer bill which is separate from the sanitary district which is already in our tax bill (read that as "double charging"), tolls (road tax), and other stuff like that. Add that in, and we get something like 34.7% of our total expenses being taxes.

Fed tax, state taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, utility taxes (including taxes to pay for people who can't afford something), excise taxes (included on things such as tires, another "temporary" tax that somehow is still there), amusement taxes (motels, hotels, and restaurants in some areas), environmental taxes, and on, and on - -- - -

I LOVE my Freedom of speech, religion, and affiliations;
I LOVE voting to kick COVIDIOTS out of office;
I LOVE drinking clean safe water in my home, instead of having to go down to the lake every day;
I LOVE my cheap public transit;
I LOVE my FREE healthcare;
I LOVE my cheap daycare;
I LOVE driving my safe car on safe roads;

I LOVE buying and eating ALL kinds of food year round at home, without having to till the soil or raise and slaughter cattle or fish or hunt for my food;
I LOVE cheap electricity that gets powers my computer & video games

You want everything for free, eh❓I see a reference to Boston. Are you from there❓ If so I have a 9000 net 3 family home and 40% of that I never see. And, as for my other units where water is “free”…. you can pay the 125.00 increase to cover those costs or exercise your free will and move on… I’ll re-rent for more anyway‼️

Great song from the Kingston Trio. My father was a big fan and I have all his old records.
We had a governor that promised not to raise taxes. He kept his promise but raised all the fees. Things like renewing drivers licenses and car inspection stickers were suddenly a lot more expensive, So did tuition at state schools.
